Madden NFL 25 News Post

After ESPN confused the world earlier today claiming current generation gameplay action was next-gen, throwing the Madden public (us included) into fetal positions in the nearest corner -- EA has finally released their actual trailer for next-gen Madden today.
  • Higher fidelity graphics with more detail than ever before (obvious).
  • Animations wise, there is less compression with each one, resulting in better looking moves.
  • Better uniform degradation looks like it's in, as well as much improved lighting
  • Skin is more realistic, with light interacting with it in a more realistic manner
  • 4x the Texture Resolution, stadiums visually look much better as do crowds, fields, and uniforms.
  • Cloth physics where jerseys can be form fitting and look realistic to towels flapping around.
  • Much more varied fans both visually and with the animations. One shot showed some sitting, some standing and cheering. Oh, and crowds are fully 3D!
  • The sidelines look pretty bare still personally, but much better than they ever have on current gen.
  • EA touts the possibilities of even bigger improvements in the coming years.

You can read more on EA Sports' official site. We just added well over a dozen new next-gen screenshots here.

According to the EA website, we are expecting information on new True Step player motion, new Player Sense (AI), new line play, and the living worlds aspect of the game in upcoming information releases. This confirms several foundational aspects of the game have been redone for next-gen, we're excited to find out what it all means in the upcoming weeks.

Graphics look better then the earlier video. But it seems game play is been avoided by EA right now. While the graphics are nice. How does the game play in real time. That is the big question moving forward in the coming weeks a head.

I'm with the "visuals weren't where you should have used the extra horsepower" crowd. They went from 512mb of RAM to 8GB, and all they can show off is the visuals? Blocking, OL/DL and WR/CB interaction? Can think of a million GAMEPLAY improvements that could have been their opening selling point. This is the worst playing sports game out there. And with them going with the same eye candy opener as last-gen, I'm feeling that Madden team still doesn't get it..... Sad..... Heck, Fifa showed off their gameplay improvements with this year's game. Slap some of the Ignite elements on it, and you have a true next-gen winner out of the gate. This game, it's perfume on a pig. Not being disrespectful, but the priorities are backwards. Fix the game first. Then pretty it up. I might be premature, but I'm thinking not. I've got history on my side. Meh.....

More info is coming. This only week 1. They still have videos featuring the new running engine, ol/dl interactions, player AI and stadiums coming.

I ran across this page while I was looking at the interview that accompanies this trailer. The "read more" link goes to the info released today, and there are several different sections below that with no link. It looks like the order EA's going to release their next-gen info in, with the next being "TrueStep".

And OL/DL is there too, next to last.
Good find mate, definitely excited about seeing the last two the most. I'm a little concerned though, judging by that and the current Gen releases we may not get any gameplay, just hype videos.

LOL engine looks the same? Okay what engine is that exactly and who are they the same?

What exactly is an engine and how does it work in video games?

I bet you don't even know what an engine is or how many engines it takes to make the game work.

Trailers are fine to a certain point. But the slow frame by frame game play kills me. I wish they would just show real time footage and be done with. I understand this is how marketing goes and all. But the trailers are slowly killing us and our hopes.

wow!!!!!! One thing I noticed , is when Doug Martin is running and there is contact you can see his helmet shifting and his head moving inside of it to go with the contact. It is at the 34 second mark in the video.

That is new and welcomed......

I think of APF 2K8, you can zoom the camera in and read the text on the backs of helmets. EA needs to stop worrying about these 5 year old things and start making a game that is playable.
Yeah, the stadium lights, the Field Pass, AP2k8 looks phenomenal on an led tv

It appears gameplay is coming, they have to fill the next six weeks with something...they chose to start with the graphics. Give it some time.

Updated the original post. There are info drops coming in the future it appears:

New True Step player motion (so new player motion)
New Player Sense (so new AI)
New line play (guess they redid this from current gen, the pic posted earlier of a double team on pass blocking tends to indicate this)
The Living Worlds (better broadcast presentation, commentary, etc. I hope)

Love it. I don't understand why people rag on EA for focusing on graphics and not showing a ton of animations in their first trailer. And then they follow that with "2K would be so much better.". When just earlier today NBA 2k14's first next gen trailer showed even less gameplay and did what? Focused on the graphics.

Every developer does this. It's not just an EA, grimey maneuver. I know many people harbor hatred toward EA, but this is a nice trailer there's no room to tout for 2k when they just showed even less footage.

While this is true, it doesn't mean that people should go around bashing EA for not showing gameplay yet.

Essentially people are bashing EA for something that wasn't even shown yet. Let them show gameplay and then you can judge whether or not it's good.

Exactly, this is just the normal marketing routine. Not just for EA or 2k, but for Rockstar, Ubisoft etc.

The gameplay will come, we just have to be patient.

Couldn't agree with you more! I was so excited to see what they had done with the sidelines but they look exactly the same as current gen! APF nailed this.

Excited for the game but disappointed since this was one of their key pillars (living worlds).

IMO not much of a leap in graphics, im mean it looks better and the grass is nice but those running animations at the end didn't look much different than current madden. IMO animation based engines gotta go physics need to rule NOT physics based animations. We'll never have true organic football gameplay with so MANY animations.

As far as the upgraded atmosphere and crowd I know if its right when I play it until then it looks ok.

Broadcasting presentation MUST be done right this time around and I haven't heard much about it.

All the graphical upgrades mean NOTHING to me IF the only time you can really enjoy them is in replay zooming in and out. CUSTOM CAMERA is a MUST this year!!! I don't want to be dictated what angles to play at ever again

I guess they don't allow women, children, or anyone who is not a short-haired, 20- to 40-year-old male to watch football games in Denver:

Spoiler

Maybe this footie is from the XBOX 2 or playstation 5. Either way this train is leaving the station. It's like we found out what was in the McRib and we all decided not to buy it. Then they come out with the next gen McRib and low and behold it's worst then the one we were just eating. I hope they bring back the little ambulance with a stretcher and cart this malarky off the field..
