NCAA Football 14 News Post

Here is the official statement from EA Sports:

Quote:
"Today I am sad to announce that we will not be publishing a new college football game next year, and we are evaluating our plan for the future of the franchise. This is as profoundly disappointing to the people who make this game as I expect it will be for the millions who enjoy playing it each year. I’d like to explain a couple of the factors that brought us to this decision.

We have been stuck in the middle of a dispute between the NCAA and student-athletes who seek compensation for playing college football. Just like companies that broadcast college games and those that provide equipment and apparel, we follow rules that are set by the NCAA – but those rules are being challenged by some student-athletes. For our part, we are working to settle the lawsuits with the student-athletes. Meanwhile, the NCAA and a number of conferences have withdrawn their support of our game. The ongoing legal issues combined with increased questions surrounding schools and conferences have left us in a difficult position – one that challenges our ability to deliver an authentic sports experience, which is the very foundation of EA SPORTS games.

At EA SPORTS, college football has always been a labor of love, and it is unfortunate that these business and legal issues have impacted our ability to make next year’s game. This franchise has been developed by a team that is deeply committed to the tradition and culture of this sport – that’s why fans have always loved it. We are working to retain the talented people who are part of the team by placing them elsewhere within the EA SPORTS organization.

In the meantime, we will continue to be connected and engaged with our fans who are playing EA SPORTS NCAA Football. Our decision does not affect our commitment to NCAA Football 14 and the consumers who love playing the game."

don't really know if you guys care or not but I was reading on the madden forum that you will be able to use ncaa draft class from ps3 and import to ps4.

That sucks I liked 14 and I was looking forward to see what they could do next gen. What happens to the people that work on NCAA? It would be great if they were put on the Madden team and maybe Madden would be that much better.

I just cant believe for the life of me that as a community, we cant break into this game, let the experts go to work, and keep moving this game forward, be it getting it onto a pc, or whatever.

Blows my mind with all the technology experts out there we seem to have our hands tied with making this work for ourselves....

Cool. O'bannen and his ilk got mine now.

Who cares if game devs lose their jobs and an entire genre of games has been sued out of business?

All about got mine now, right? Only in America.

The only solution would be to implement a team builder mode in future madden games so people can create teams to get a feel of some college football on next gen but it wont be the same as you wont be able to play a college dynasty or use them in ranked online

maybe they could bring back tournament creator in madden and a teambulder so we could create college tournaments

I disagree with the simplistic description of the Lawsuit..
This isn't about Athletes seeking compensation. .It's about the NCAA exploiting it's Athletes .

That won't happen. I remember how they left NCAA Basketball with all it's issues without patching it. .

Well I think people would need the source code and that you can't get off the disc if I have heard correctly...if we got the source code, probably could be done

Over/Under on the average number of sports programs that schools cut when players start getting paid?

# 175 Buckeye Country @ 09/26/13 09:41 PM
Well then patch this game and make it work. Fix the sliders and QB accuracy while your at it. Please?

Why do people think college athletes should get paid? They are paid, by their scholarships and everything that comes with it.
The benefits they receive are worth over double the amount of minimum wage. And if they don't go pro, they are getting a free education in what ever field they choose. They aren't saddled with student loans, ect. They can complain all they want they are getting a ton for these scholarships. It's they fault they don't take full advantage of their education.
If I make my company a couple more million a year, they aren't giving me any of it, they are paying me to do my job. Same goes with college athletes, they are getting paid in form of an education.

Not to mention that they ALL know what they are getting into by signing the dotted line to play at a school. They know that they are signing to be amateur athletes.

yeah, because there is no other choice. what if there was a nfl development league where players got paid? even if it is just a fraction of an nfl salary. think the college game would be around for long? dont think so.

I don't know if this TRULY the end. I think this might be EA's way of saying "Ok...be careful what you wish for." Because now...they're gonna realize just how much revenue will be LOST from not having an NCAA game. The schools will realize it, the conferences, the bowls, everyone.
