EA SPORTS AND UNDER ARMOUR TAKE THE COURT

Rise Up in the EA SPORTS Draft Showcase Powered by Under Armour

EA SPORTS announced today a brand-new career mode coming to NBA LIVE 14: Rising Star. In Rising Star, gamers will be given the chance to write their own history as an NBA player. Whether it’s modeling your career as a scoring point guard or an athletic big, it’s up to each player to decide how they want to dominate the game and earn Rising Star Points to improve their skills.

The first challenge is to make your mark in the EA SPORTS Draft Showcase powered by Under Armour. How well you ball on the Under Armour court will determine your Draft potential, and where you’ll start your NBA career.

Manage your player’s career for up to 25 years in the league, growing from a role-player coming off the bench to an NBA All-Star. When it’s all said and done, will you be the next NBA Superstar?

In addition to in-game integration, EA SPORTS is a key partner for the 2013 Under Armour Elite 24 event in New York. The 8th annual game and activities will take place at, and around, the newly constructed custom outdoor basketball court at the Tobacco Factory in Brooklyn, NY on August 23 – 24. The game airs live on ESPNU at 7 p.m. ET Saturday, Aug. 24.

EA SPORTS will launch NBA LIVE 14 later this fall on the next-generation of video game consoles, Xbox One® and PlayStation® 4.

Sounding great. Would love to have more details though, sounding way too similar to the other game's mode.

What else is it supposed to sound like? What is wrong with implementing a good idea as it is? Even if it sounds exactly the same, who cares? The mode is fun!

I never said there was anything wrong with Live implementing the 2k premise, but it would be cool to hear a couple details that differentiate Live's mode from 2k's.

And MyCareer is OK...lol

Another career mode, thats how your getting the masses pumped up for your game EA? I won't be convinced of anything till this game comes out, a 2 year project with nothing to show.....yet! 2K Sports has had the market for 3 years and they don't look like slowing down, I've seen claims that 2k is getting lazy, i think its more likely they have kept a few things for EA's return to the NBA arena. I personally think EA is going to bring out a good NBA game come October, but not a great one, and after the canceling of Elite 11, and the massive public relations debacles, I guarantee sports gamers will be judging NBA Live 14 a lot closely than NBA 2K14. Take it to the rack EA Sports, your fans are waiting and airballs won't cut it this year. Good luck!

I was hoping EA would do something innovative. Seeing a point based progression system essentially says it's EA's version of MyCareer. They really had a chance to do something special, but it looks like more of the same from a BAP mode stance.

I honestly have never played career mode, have no interest in it, is it really something to hype up? Maybe to some but to casual gamers its really not that important a feature.

Anyone else out there think EA should have brought out a revamped Adidas Live Run from Live 10? I know 2K have brought crew mode back again this year, and without opening up the "they took this idea" or "they had this first" that game mode was awesome!

Rumors suggest it will be called Ultimate Team like in other EA titles from past year, i suppose its similar to Live Run.

i like this news, and I have a feeling NBA Live will be a pleasent surprise for us this year, and I havent played Live since Live 07 i believe, but 2k didnt really take advantage of Lives absence imo, 2k kinda fell off compared to when they had competion so hopefully Live has paid attention to the things that have worked and the things that have failed for 2k over the last couple of years and made a great product for the next gen.

I mean, is it even confirmed that the game will be out? We're 6 weeks away from release and still not a single clip of gameplay, or really much info at all. It will be interesting to see how this plays out once 2k starts dropping feature videos every other day. I want a good competition as much as anyone, but it would shock me if EA made a game anywhere near 2k's current level. If they had something special, I have to believe they'd be eager to show it off at least a little.

If I'm not mistaken BAP modes are the most played mode in sports games.

I refuse to support a game on some fanboyism type stuff even if it's garbage. I want a complete gaming experience and a strong attempt at trying to compete.

# 54 poloelite @ 08/22/13 11:39 AM
Everyone is missing my points. Both have stolen from each other while they were competing, YES!! But EA basketball is DEAD!! My point is you can't come back in doing something exactly the way your competitor is doing it RIGHT NOW!! Regardless of who had the original idea, the point is 2k has My Player and the announcement from EA sounds like a complete rip of what's out there. Why would someone buy the same thing from a company that has failed recently over a company that has thrived?? Of course you'll get EA fans that will buy no matter what, but the masses want to see things on the back of the box that will warrant a purchase of two basketball games. And I say two because practically no one outside of EA fans is passing up 2k for Live. But if Live took another route with their career mode and style, then you could make progress. But it's hard to beat the bully fighting like the bully, even if some of the moves were originally yours. He has all the power now and you have to be smarter and more innovative.

This is a good thing though because while it may not look better it controls better; something I think seperates Live and all EA sports games.

I'm excited for next gen because one of them will be able to combine the two. From what I've seen from live 14 I think they are on that path.
When did you see some Live 14 gameplay???

# 56 Jakeness23 @ 08/22/13 11:46 AM
To be completely honest, I'm a bit more interested in hearing from Live this year because, one they have been gone for a while and I'd like to hear how they are (hopefully) moving in the right direction, and two because they are discussing a next-gen game, while I expect 2K to only talk about current-gen until it is released.

Live isn't releasing in 6 weeks.... it's a release day launch with next-gen consoles (November 15th for PS4, which I will be getting), they aren't making a current-gen game.

I agree with this. EA are the underdog and should proceed as such. It's similar to boxing as the challenge you have to go out a dominate the champion ( minus the Bradley/Pacquiao fight).

And let's be honest, can anyone really be hyped for Live 14 at this point?? What exactly do we know and what have we seen?? For all of the faults 2k may have, at least we have a recent basketball experience in hand, that has pushed some things forward. I'm not a fan boy either, just the facts. If Live 14 really had things that were going to blow us away, I think they would be out there to reverse the damage that was done with two failed launches of the title. Even with this announcement of the career mode, there wasn't a trailer or anything. A typed press release and a picture and people are excited?? Do I want Live 14 to be awesome, of course I do, I love basketball. Is a CG video and some words on paper worth $60?? ABSOLUTELY NOT!! EA has EARNED the right of us being skeptics until completely proven otherwise in my opinion. If they drop an awesome gameplay video today and some features 2k doesn't have, I will be running to reserve it.

Skopin that is true, they may. But my point is the press release doesn't address or introduce anything new that 2k isn't doing, so why get excited?? Right now they're basically saying, we haven't gotten basketball right in years, but this fall we'll be attempting to duplicate what the champ has already perfected. I just don't get the cause for excitement. Fooled me once with Elite and even second time with Live 13, not anymore.
