EA SPORTS AND UNDER ARMOUR TAKE THE COURT

Rise Up in the EA SPORTS Draft Showcase Powered by Under Armour

EA SPORTS announced today a brand-new career mode coming to NBA LIVE 14: Rising Star. In Rising Star, gamers will be given the chance to write their own history as an NBA player. Whether it’s modeling your career as a scoring point guard or an athletic big, it’s up to each player to decide how they want to dominate the game and earn Rising Star Points to improve their skills.

The first challenge is to make your mark in the EA SPORTS Draft Showcase powered by Under Armour. How well you ball on the Under Armour court will determine your Draft potential, and where you’ll start your NBA career.

Manage your player’s career for up to 25 years in the league, growing from a role-player coming off the bench to an NBA All-Star. When it’s all said and done, will you be the next NBA Superstar?

In addition to in-game integration, EA SPORTS is a key partner for the 2013 Under Armour Elite 24 event in New York. The 8th annual game and activities will take place at, and around, the newly constructed custom outdoor basketball court at the Tobacco Factory in Brooklyn, NY on August 23 – 24. The game airs live on ESPNU at 7 p.m. ET Saturday, Aug. 24.

EA SPORTS will launch NBA LIVE 14 later this fall on the next-generation of video game consoles, Xbox One® and PlayStation® 4.

Career Mode is basically mandatory now. But I'm interested in the ways it will deviate from MyCareer. Right now it sounds like they bit the entire playbook. I'm still interested though. Even if I don't buy Live, competition is good for both products.

If that's your justification, you were probably going for Live no matter what 2K does.Really? Euro ball not authentic enough? So you're going to Live which may not even have Euro ball?

Plus, what have see seen except for one next gen vid from two months ago?

How about playing the NCAA tourney right before the combine workouts and meetings (similar tourney to high school FB in NCAA)? Maybe offering 2 or 3 different paths you can take from jump (start as bum, come in as the starter or come in as the next phenom)? You can't dethrone the champ throwing the same punches he does, AFTER he throws them at you smh.
2K ripped the one game audition from them. There was a one game audition in Elite 11, 2K11 still had the draft combine.

Actually, 2k took the idea from Live. Live was suppose to have "Become Legendary" in NBA Elite 11, but it didn't launch. 2K put the "showcase" in their game since NBA 2K12.

They have a career mode in all of their sports games so im not surprised, just have some good fun gameplay and I may get this over 2k.

Not really. Just correcting some people who said that 2k had the "showcase" first.

Is that all you got, EA? Meh

one nba live was going to have this in 2011 before it got cancel..two the name and logos are different and the way they run that mode will be different from 2k as well..the only thing i can EA not having is the press conference after their games in this mode..if they do i will be shocked! But that style have been in any of their sports games..now i can see them doing an espn video clip with someone talking about the type of game you played..since they did this before in the past ncaa game

2011 Elite was going to have the jordan brand and logo but it looks like they going with rising star and uder humor for its showcase since they just made a deal with them..which i rather them do that since they not going to have jordan in the game lol

exaxtly i was lost on this as well..i remember my roomate playing the combine before going to the draft on 2k10 it was add on mode you had to get if you wanted to give your player better chance to get drafted higher..if you didn't get that add on mode it would just been random..they didn't stick with it because it really didn't make a huge difference if you did the combine or not..but it was 2011 when i saw 2k and EA showing their showcase..being the fact EA showed it first in their demo..is saying something but they didn't come out with the full game so.....whateve..everybody just want two good games..EA is starting over and trying to start the right way..so they at the buttom and working their way back up..its a good thing they put this mode in their so this one thing they don't to worrry about as much once when comes to making 2015, they won't be that far behind 2k in certain areas of the game.

This sounds interesting. It will be interesting to see Live's Animations and Controls. For example, is there commands for cuts to the ball, back door cuts, jumping passing lanes, denying the ball ect. What about post moves? What about shot types, layup and dunk packages ect? Stepback Jumpers, Pull up Jumpers, Spin jumpers ect. Will it be limited.

From the bounce tek demo, it looks like they are concentrating on dribbling animations and controls. But there is more to basketball than just dribbling and shooting. Especially when we are talking about control just a single player. How much will you be able to pull off with your player and will there be control commands to pull off this stuff? Or will it just be random and limited animations?

The draft combine is better than this 1 game showcase. But as far as Live 14 goes its great they are having this single player lock career mode. Im excited to see some footage. Hopefully we get gameplay footage sooner rather than later. Im really pulling for Live and really just wanna try something different from 2K this year. But Live has to show me something to warrant a $60 purchase and not get 2K. I'd like both to be honest.

Nice addition, I mean I'm not overjoyed but I'm not disappointed either. Here's hoping they got the 5 on 5 right.

I'm definitely getting this game.... Kinda getting real tired of 2k

Of course they have, but when you've been as terrible as NBA Live/Elite recently you can't make announcements that are basically a rip off of the juggernaut because everyone knows yours wont measure up yet. Play up the nuances that makes your product worth buying over there's. EA/NBA Live is in no position to say "hey we have what 2k does, buy ours instead", when you haven't had anything on shelves since Lebron was in Cleveland.

EA may surprise us this year after all...

Lets not start about what 2k has stolen from live.. every year they take something from live even when live was out

Oh Lord, can we all just shut up about who steals what? Every game borrows from each other. EA steals as much as it gets stolen from. So why even post it? It doesn't make one better or worse than the other.

I'm excited to check this mode out. I have not been happy with the direction of My Player. Frankly, I'm turned off by it's trend away from deep character development. One of my favorite genres is RPG and I was hoping I would get MORE of it. Instead, it seems I'm not the target audience. If Live heads more in THAT direction, if the gameplay holds up (not a given by a longshot ), I'm in!
