Just finished two full games... Lost to the Seahawks and beat the Ravens...Both were really good games. For those of you saying that is plays just like 13 c'mon man... really? To me it plays nothing like 13... I could barely play 13... The cut backs in the running game along with the IE upgrade are amazing... It's not perfect but the fun factor is back for me and Madden. I can only imagine hoe great next gen Madden will play if I am enjoying this game. Each to their own I guess...

I don't like the Madden engine. I never have, and the whole "infinity" thing has proven to be a let down with this demo. Yes, there are different expressions of tackling, but there are still numerous occasions where a second defender engaging in a tackle is just too much for this engine to handle. The biggest issue is how a second defender will literally dive through a tackle with zero physics being shown. You can call it "pro-tak" or "infinity 2.0" but this is still the traditional Madden, twitchy animation engine that just can't nail down proper physics in blocking, running and tackling.

That's not to say you can't enjoy the game, but to me this game's engine is just bad for football. You will see some great looking animations only to be interrupted with some quick snatch-back tackle or quirky jolt that makes everything so hard on the eyes. Not only that, but the ball physics are just off. The ball tends to fluctuate in weight, with some passes deflecting onto the sidelines, looking like a wiffle ball. Other times it seems like dead weight.

The demo is enough for me to make a decision on a purchase. It's kind of a no-brainer to me. This series has been a huge letdown this generation. From the very first "target" video we saw, to the various cute names given to a very tired engine, the game just lacks appeal. From the very start of the demo you just know it's the same old Madden experience. Putting another $60 into this title is just not happening for me.
Perfect example of a great demo impression. Doesn't like the game but keeps it classy. What OS is all about. New members take note

After another game, the defense side of the ball received ZERO attention! I feel like the "run modifier" is a cheap way for the player to actually move the way he should without having to hit another button to activate it. It's like Tony Hawk 25 or that passing cone gimmick. I loved every Madden last gen except 06.

8 years on the 360/PS3 and they still can't get the movement to look fluid.

I wish they weren't bringing the Infinity engine over to Next-Gen. Ignite is obviously just a graphical facelift.

They need a brand new movement/tackling/physics/collision engine.

So depressing.

Eghhh this place is a circle jerk. Complaining about things like injuries, assisted tackles and lighting effects in a demo...

If you are commenting about me.. I'm not ripping people for liking it. I wish I did. I am also not ripping anyone else about their opinion. I even helped a member try to get his demo to work that was freezing. I'm just giving my impressions and i think EA should be ashamed of themselves for the trash they have released this gen. This was once my all time favorite game and i haven't liked it in years.

I watched next gen AP running the ball footage and it looked even more atrocious then current gen. Looked even more hyper speed and unnatural. There was one tackle where AP leveled the guy but still shot back 5 yards!! LOL

mini first impressions

Pros-
- improved cut scenes before and during the game
- improved sidelines
- improved replays
- slightly improved announcers
- slightly improved AI
- improved TD celebrations

Cons
-Overpowered user running backs (might be overpowered to show off new moves)
-too many close ups
-close ups are way too close

I echo everything you just said i grew up on madden playing day in and day out i remember when defense mattered when ray lewis was on the cover. When you could actually shut people down.

Hows the D-Line? Is it useless again?

Is assisted tackles a stat?

Madden 05 was probably the best Madden of all time. Crazy we got that and 2K5 that year for 20.00 bucks. I'm just salty to see Madden keep sucking. I feel like it's a crock that they can't make it play right. Come on man!!! It played right on weaker systems. It's done to appeal to the casuals. 48-35 online games, player ratings not mattering, teams playing all alike.

This is definitely the best Madden on current gen, unfortunately that's not good enough for most people and I understand that.

My biggest gripe isn't the run blocking, because I fully expected that. I assume they just copy and pasted coding from NCAA on that one. My grippest gripe is with the coverage. I don't understand why coverage has taken so many steps back. NCAA 12 had awesome zone coverage out the box and I guess guys must have complained about that or something because now only a couple zone coverages are ever a viable option. They need to bring DEFENSE back into these games, especially Madden.

I've always had more faith in the Madden team than NCAA, to be honest, so I have to hope that a number of issues were fixed. I don't want to start another "THE GCs FAILED US" conversation but, man, I just don't know how guys are playing this and telling the public good things. What I am playing right now is not "sim" in the least bit....

Of course I am still buying day one, I just hope they changed a heck of a lot in retail...
NO defense? i played a half and was down 13-3 i was picked off once i picked rogers off and stopped the cpu a couple times, and i whole hardly disagree with you rin blocking has improved i can run up the middle now i dont haveto run the stretch play and have the fastest back in the game and when i get in the hole ( yes the lineman made a hole for me!) i can cut it off a guard or tackle who is on the second level, if thats not run blocking i dont know what is.......i swear i think some people just love to complain about un sim the GAME isnt and enjoy what the game has to offer, just my thoughts. my only beef with it is that camera angle to start off i will changing that

# 199 theranhog @ 08/13/13 12:59 PM
JP, Did you like Madden 10?? I thought that one was by far the best of the gen. What did you think of 11? that was the worst to me.

# 200 BigD @ 08/13/13 01:02 PM
Love the field degradation. Lambeau was a mess after the 4th. It's very similar to NCAA's degradation, but a lot more divots and tears. Very nicely done.

Cut scenes are decent but totally not digging the coach cuts scenes where they are the only person in the picture, zero background images of players or anything behind them. I guess they're off alone, by themselves somewhere?

Hate the new camera angle as others do to, wayy to far back, at least for me.

The sideline reporter after the half is nice, she talked about coach wanting to make adjustments and whatnot. Hopefully these are varied and stay relevant. It's also nice to see real clips of plays for the half, other than those stupid canned-cut scenes of players flexing their bicep over and over.

End of the game features a play of the game which is nice.

Other than that, feels exactly like '13. Will not pick this up but will without a doubt get the nex-gen version.
