NCAA Football 14 News Post

It's official. According to GameZone, we will not see a playoff format in NCAA Football 14. Producer, Ben Haumiller states, "The BCS will continue as the post-season format for all years of Dynasty."

Quote:
"We don’t yet have all the info about how the playoff system will work, including who will make up the selection committee and what their criteria will be for picking the playoff teams, and it’s our policy to not include anything in-game that hasn’t been approved and finalized by the NCAA," he explained. I wasn't told if a playoff system would eventually be patched into the game once all of the details are finalized; however, EA seems content with keeping the current BCS intact, at least for this year.

The hate for the rankings is the broken ranking system, chances are we will still have that next year...just take the top 4 bcs teams and put them in the playoff...also hopefully fix some of the rankings issues...EA could have easily put in the playoff

I think they're mostly doing it so they have a new killer feature to kick off the next gen games

They DO NOT rob anyone of any money. SMH. Here's an idea, if you do not like what they put on the market...DO NOT BUY IT.

You sound like all those people who keep telling me to be responsible and not buy things with money I don't have.

Not at all. Spend your money however you like, but being melodramatic about a company stealing your money on a product you DO NOT need to buy is ridiculous. Good try though.

I have, however you know what you are getting into with these EA titles. There are really no secrets, and being a member at OS you know you are going to get honest impressions about the game. That way, you will be able to make an informed judgement about buying it or not. Since you did not but it last year, EA did not "steal" any of your money last year in regards to this title, and if you do the same this year...you will have $60 in your pocket and actually made a stronger statement to EA by not purchasing it, then those people who buy the game and complain on message boards about a game that they feel never improves.

Gonna wait until next years game (if and its a big if, they include it for Ncaa 15) for the PS4. Hopefully it will be in next years game!

I don't see any reason it wouldn't be in next years game

Do you really think the NCAA would let them NOT include it?

Now I'm going to seriously consider not buying the game this year.

Thanks, EA. I've bought this game every year since NCAA '98 and you're forcing me to rethink my yearly decision.

BAD MOVE.
Yep I've bought the game every year since the College Football USA days on Sega...I have been leery about the game the last few years but I'm definitely sitting this one out

Probably already stated, but it will be the big feature for 15' guaranteed or one of there first announcements. Look we give you what you hardcores want, except for actual football foundation.

"We were too lazy to add that feature. But hey thatll be the only feature well add next year"

Dealbreaker.

The real issue is that this says that "Nothing" was done in respect to FCS/Smaller schools making into and in many cases, beating supposed to be better schools on a regular basis.

Many times when something is not included, it means that other "broken" issues that would have some type of correlation would go untouched.

As stated by other posters, what about the broken BCS functionality in their game that they are sticking with?

That's an under-the-hood issue, so they "Will Not" touch it with a 100ft pole.

This will be advertised as an "All New" feature on the new consoles, better believe that....

Well this blows.

The Show 12 didn't have the new playoff format last year. But they get a pass I guess.

Each of these three components comprises one third of a team's total score in the BCS standings. These components are all known entities and may be simulated, regardless of knowledge of exact implementation. For example, the means of computation for a team's score in the Sagarin rating, which is one component of the computer average, is not public knowledge, but exact knowledge of the Sagarin rating isn't needed to attempt to create a reasonable representation of the total computer average portion of the BCS formula.

In contrast, there are absolutely no specifics as to how team selection will take place for the college football playoff. Any attempt to simulate it at this juncture will have no basis in reality.
Leaving it out lacks more reality than including it in some muted form. It's a reality that a four-team playoff is coming next year. Regardless of how perfectly accurate programming logic replicates the selection of the top four, the playoff format itself is pretty simple.

I also stand by my original statement. EA does not know the specifics of the computer formulas that are used in the BCS rankings, yet they have found a way to implement the BCS in the game. Their own justification for not including the four-team playoff is due to a lack of info on the selection process -- which means a concern over accuracy. I don't buy that logic.

Make it an option that can be turned on where the top four in the BCS standings are put into a four-team playoff at the end of the year. It doesn't have to be perfect and they don't even have to include it. I just find their excuse to be a little thin.
