Madden NFL 13 News Post


It looks like Madden NFL 13 title update #3, which was scheduled to arrive tomorrow, is 1 day early and available now for 360 users, weighing in at 19MB.

Feature Additions:

Custom Rosters Offline: Added the ability to start an offline career with a custom roster.

Connected Careers Edit Player: Added the ability to edit gear and information for players in a league.

Coach Mode in Connected Careers: Added the ability to use coach mode in Connected Careers.

Changing Schemes in Connected Careers: Added the ability to change offensive and defensive schemes as a coach.

Offline Play Along in Connected Careers: Added the ability for multiple people to join a CCM game. This applies to coaches only.

Draft Clock: Added a draft clock during the draft that is displayed on screen if you leave the draft interface to view rosters, depth charts, etc.

Draft Filter: Added a filter to the draft screen to display players that have been drafted.

Connected Careers Practice XP: Added the ability for user controlled players to earn extra XP in practice mode through the stats they accumulate.
Gameplay Tuning:
  • Fixed an issue where WRs were dropping too many passes when playing on All Madden difficulty setting.
  • Fixed an issue where it was too easy to time the kick meter on FGs and PATs in user vs. user games.
  • Fixed an issue where punt returners were moving away from the landing spot if you called a fair catch while letting the CPU control the player.
  • Fixed an issue where someone who attempted to bull rush with the R stick once the ball was snapped activated run commit.
Commentary:
  • Added over a dozen logic fixes to make our commentary more intelligent.
Presentation:
  • Fixed an issue where specific offensive player celebrations were not triggering.
  • Fixed an issue where the referee was backwards when calling a penalty.
  • Fixed an issue with the Giants away uniforms (missing a sleeve stripe).
Connected Careers:
  • Fixed an issue where Offline Gameplay AI/Logic did not match the logic in Play Now.
  • Fixed an issue where playing the game on All-Madden is too easy.
  • Fixed an issue where changing the camera setting in CCM game works for single player.
  • Fixed an issue where League Sliders had limited impact on difficulty.
  • Fixed an issue where the Accelerated Clock did not function in an online CCM game when the option was set to On.
  • Fixed an issue where you could not turn on/off GameFlow in CCM.
  • Fixed an issue where you were unable to sign Free Agents during the season.
  • Fixed an issue where 'Starting a League' would reset Player Schemes.
  • Fixed an issue where after declining a trade offer, you are no longer able to accept or decline another offer.
  • Fixed an issue where you could exploit supersim to run the game clock indefinitely.
  • Fixed some spelling and polish issues in the News and Twitter.
  • Fixed an issue where a coach could make a contract offer to a user controlled player.
  • Fixed an issue where you are forced to select a throwing style for a created player that is not a QB.
  • Fixed an issue where turning Auto-Start to off does not save week to week.
  • Fixed an issue where you can see rookie overall ratings by accessing the player card of the prospect through Team Needs.
  • Fixed an issue where changing Auto-Sub Frequency does not change the correct data.
  • Fixed an issue where the profanity filter was preventing offline players from typing in their names.
  • Fixed an issue where you can draft a player and then trade down while the draft is paused. The issue resulted in the user keeping both the traded picks and drafted player.
Stability:
  • Fixed numerous crashes.
  • Fixed an issue with the in-game pause menu disappearing.
Madden Ultimate Team:
  • Changed the Packs button to Store Button.
  • Condensed Leaderboards and Help menus.
  • Implemented the ability to view videos from the hub.
  • Implemented Store Panel Changes.
  • Moved Auctions/Trades to a separate menu option.
  • Fixed several Solo Challenge exploits
Playbooks:
  • Fixed an issue where theHail Mary formation in a custom playbook had a blank play that resulted in a broken formation and invisible players if selected.

Has anyone noticed players freezing since the patch? It's happened twice so far, both on the computer.

One was a wide receiver screen, the receiver caught it but then he froze in place and started shaking.

The second time was an interception where the computer intercepted the ball and he froze in the interception animation and started shaking.

Do you have a custom roster?

So far, that seems to be the culprit of a lot of stuff...

No, this is an Online CCM that has been going on for about a month so no custom.

I wasn't too worried about it when it happened once, but when it happened a second time (not in the same game), it made me wonder if this is going to happen every other game.

It cost the CPU a few big plays.

I had it one time on my offline ccm, but I disconnected from the stupid online EA makes mandatory when booting this game and never froze again. It's a EA server issue.

The games aren't freezing, I've never had a game freeze on me in 13. It's players freezing in place.

Is anyone else not able to get rid of gameflow playcalling? We had an existing franchise when the patch dropped and had turned gameflow off in the options when setting up the online CC. I also have it turned off in the Main Menu - My Madden settings but it is still on for every game. Wasn't this supposed to be fixed?

I like MAdden 13 but after 10 games into my ccm I really dislike the physics engine.
Tackles are not natural at all, The bowling pin syndrom is way to much to take. and everyonce in a while Ill see tackles where a player gets flung 10-20yards from the line of scrimmage. way to many pile ups on tackles.

IMO, tackling in 12 felt way mroe organis

Iv been playing nfl 2k5 since 2005 cause madden hasn't been enjoyable for a looong time, but i decided to pick up madden 13 when i heard there was new physics. I also read a few people complaining that the graphics were bad which was a good sign to me that maybe EA was focusing more on gameplay than graphics this time around.

I acually like this madden, despite its flaws. Is it better than nfl 2k5? In some ways i think it is, but it falls short in other ways. Overall though, i think ill be playing this madden instead of 2k5 for a while, and im a big 2k5 fanboy.

Hopefully someone can resolve this issue for me. I downloaded the third patch and started a CCM, and was amazed how much more realistic it became. I went from destroying the CPU on All-Madden to very competitive games. I played an entire season like this and ended 10-6 with very realistic stats and a majority of the games being close and competitive.

I went through the off-season and started season two. Now the games seemingly are back to the way they were. My first game I won 42-10. In four games I have held the QB's under 150 yards passing. Overall, the stats are skewed and completely different from my first season.

Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Not sure if Emm is ever coming back but Post Patch impression....adding a QB that will not scramble is a game-breaker. No one can say I didn't give M13 an honest and earnest tryout. M13 back into the case and Head Coach 09 retakes permanent residence in my PS3 again. :\ I shouldn't be disappointed because HC is such a great game...but I am.

Are you sure they don't scramble? I had Aaron Rodgers scramble twice against me in one game. I haven't seen much of it but I haven't played many scrambling type QBs either. I do wonder if their player tendencies are working right this year.

So has anyone found a solution to the skinny arm roster bug? Are people just playing with the anomalies or just not editing any players.

I haven't put the game back in my system since I experienced the issue, because I'm not sure how to rectify. Was there any word from ea about fixing the issue or is this just the gallery we have play from here on out?

Just curious to see what others are doing to try and fix this issue. Thanks .

I plan on starting an online CCM with some friends this weekend. After doing some reading, I suppose that the way to go is to use an EA roster update rather than a custom roster due to the depth chart resetting. Also tell them to not edit any of the OL or DL due to the skinny arm glitch. Is this a correct assertion? Is there anything else that I should be aware of?

EA needs to start caring about sliders again. They add them to the game but I don't think anyone tests them or listens to those that do care. The pass reaction slider remains broken and after this last patch the human running game is overpowered. The sliders are so weak that I'm now using human run block at 0 and cpu block shedding at 100 on All-Pro. Cranking up the sliders should have a far great effect than it does. Moving one of those sliders 10 points does almost nothing. And special teams sliders need to be split between human and cpu. I'd love to see a few more sliders added and the ones they do have work better.

Honestly this would go a long way in silencing a good number of the complaints the sim-minded players have.

We get that EA isn't going to make the game realistic out of the box because they don't want to frustrate the "casuals". That's fine. Give the "hardcore" players the tools to tune the game. We'll do the heavy lifting. Tendencies, performance and penalty sliders that REALLY work could address an astounding percentage of the complaints that are out there.
