Madden NFL 13 News Post

Madden NFL 13 Title Update #2 is available now for 360 users. We'll update this post when PS3 users can see it.

This update includes a new instant start option when creating a player in CCM. The team has also fixed numerous stability issues and GameFace improvements.

While the team hasn't added the ability to edit players in CCM, they still haven't shot down the idea completely, in hopes to have it available in a future patch.

The week 1 Madden NFL 13 updated rosters for CCM are not included in this title update, but are supposed to be out sometime this week.

UPDATE: Here are the details on the title update.
  • Added an Instant Start option to Connected Careers as a player
  • Numerous commentary improvements to address when lines trigger and what they say.
  • Added a trade notification in CCM for the NFL Draft
  • Fixed social media sharing post-game to address spacing issues
  • Improved the GameFace feature
  • Fixed Challenge Audio to make the appropriate call
  • Improved Physics Get-up post play
  • Adjusted created players in Connected Careers so that they always have high progression grades despite their backstory choices
  • Fixed defensive assignment issues against the CPU AI when users were in Man Coverage
  • Increased the chances to trade for a CPU team’s starter
  • Adjusted the scouting development trait in CCM to display as (Slow, Medium, Fast, or Superstar) instead of 0-3.
  • Added the ability to post results from H2H MUT games on Facebook/Twitter.
  • Numerous stability issues around the game in general were also included in the update to improve the overall experience and Connected Careers specifically.

I've read conflicting reports on this, so can anyone tell me if the coaching schemes save in Offline CCM with the patch?

First, will acting like a brat help bring this game to be better any quicker? Second, will it matter in a thousand years? Perspective and reality are important to life.

Not a brat just a paying customer that really didnt get what i paid for and if its not important why are you on here commenting?

To try to get things change, not throw a tantrum because things are not perfect. I assure you those devs and employees that do monitor the forums ignore people who ignore perspective and reality. You said you disagreed with "not acting like brats" so...thus the response. I just want a good game, and I don't want them to abandon it because they see that they can never please everyone. We need as many people who are realistic and polite as possible to the game to get things changed.

Not sure why many are intrigued and questioning if the option to forcefully start your player in CCM was there before, it was the only thing EA clearly stated was done in the patch description. Read the first post, mystery solved...

They added a minor feature but failed to address any of the larger features(CCM) or normal functions such as tracking tackles and saving settings that are currently broken. I'm glad many of us were waiting for this patch to start our CCM. They didn't touch any glitches in offline CCM.

I guess I'll wait till November for the next patch, or be done with EA's let down considering 2K is putting out a complete and functioning game in 3 weeks.

Gameplay is an absolute and complete upgrade this year, awesome if you only run Play Now games. The rest is broke and EA is in no hurry to fix.

Every sports game gets patches 1-2 months after launch to tighten up gameplay/issues that require you to restart your franchise mode anyway. Every game, every year. You should assume it and save yourself the annoyance. They have already said they are looking at a few major things. It takes time they have families and deadlines. Many people have been productive and written at length about the problems we want to see fixed and reach out to the devs and community managers on twitter and they have gotten our feedback. If they do nothing with it then I see an issue but they haven't even had a chance to do anything with it yet. I feel that many people are being unreasonable.

I just think you are stressing yourself out over something you can't control. Enjoy the football games and in sometime in October with better rosters and a gameplay patch or two we can all enjoy the glory of Madden 13.

I am patient and know that patches take 2 weeks to be certified/tested by Sony/MS AFTER they are completed but one thing I don't understand is the Gameplay Tuners they introduced a year or two ago which they have said would let them tune things without needing to go through the patching process. I believe NHL 13 already has a gameplay tuner out. It would be nice to see them do something about improving the CPU offense or physics engine with this but nothing yet.

All the floppy/falling stuff that would make people laugh if they were watching you play seems to have gone away as well. Game seems to play much tighter in that respect. The IE is obviously still at play here, but it goes back to more animations now instead of floppyness (is that a word?) everywhere on the field.

I've only played two complete games so that's all I can say for sure right now.

No you don't.
Sounds great, thanks Bolt.

I see people mentioning one of the "fixes" in Online CCM was better CPU playcalling ... I'm assuming that was included in this patch? If so, that's a big plus for me.

If schemes arent saving offline with this patch, which appears to be the case after reading through, then that is just ridiculous.

They managed to fix that issue, as well as the 'team needs' cheat to see rookie ratings, and other things for Online CCM within a day or two of the release of the game. Now, a couple weeks later, we dont have the same exact thing for offline CCM, even after this patch?

I myself don't care much for editing and fantasy draft rosters but when the computer AI is just plain stupid and makes for a very unrealistic play experience then that is where I draw the line. Not everyone plays online or wants to. I could play and have fun against the CPU playing madden way back on the PS2 days so why can't I/we now?

We are on the same page. I am primarily an offline franchise player who enjoys solo play. In other words good AI is vital to my enjoyment of the game.

But given past history (Madden 10,11,12) the big patch (usually in October) addresses these concerns for the most part. AI has never been perfect....but Madden 12's AI was about the best I have ever played (in Madden football history).

I fully expect it to be tuned on the next patch along with the other gamebreaking bugs in Offline CCM.

But the fact is we have to wait. The game came out 2 weeks ago.....we are the beta testers....we have been this entire generation of consoles.

It sucks. But my point is...don't get worked up...enjoy NCAA 13 or The Show or any other game and just wait till it get's addressed.

What other choices we have?

1) Just do not purchase the game

2) purchase the game and play it...discover bugs...which we do and play around them till they are fixed.

I gotta tell ya. Last gen.....plenty of bugs. We learned how to adapt, make house rules all that stuff. Today we have patches.

So it is a double edged sword. The crutch that we call patches has caused quality control to really get loose. But at the same time at least games can be repaired.

I am pretty sure once the bugs are addressed....most of us will be very happy and playing the crap out of CCM.

Sad people are reporting that physics are toned down. I never cared about players falling after the play ended. If it's basically animations again whats the point?

Online CCM (created coach / Bills) AP / adjusted sliders / PS3 is playing quite nicely for me...

I know the official offline PS3 patch hasn't dropped but online felt a little different today (new online tuner?)...

1) Cards beat me with a TD on a well executed and called 2 minute drill

2) Cards got called with a DPI!!!

3) Fitzgerald got flagged for "Illegal Touching"

4) CPU played well in all phases, just wish their D blitzed less...I racked up a couple somewhat big plays due to that...

The new roster is still a mess though...

McNabb ends up starting for the Vikings, after you advance into the fist week of a test CCM...

Overall, I don't have as many complaints re: gameplay...

Interesting...

I completely agree with this. I have been patiently waiting for this fix for offline and considering how quickly it was fixed for online I assumed it was a definite for this patch. I can not believe this was not fixed for offline franchises today.

This one is how I know Online can be "patched" differently from offline.

It's also why I wouldn't be surprised if this patch (or a later one) improves offline play now and CC in that regard. Would make sense to include the fixes they made for online, no?

Its not the same as scripted animations. It is still Real time physics, but not sloppy like the way it was before. It looks way better now.

Guys are exaggerating. IMO its not toned down its tighter and the way it should have been when launched.

The game looks much better on the field now.

No, he's playing online CC with those observations. The patch is not out yet on PS3.

Great to hear thanks for the input man.

People...stop referring to yourselves as beta testers. I am not excusing EA for some of the bugs but my God, the game plays a damn good game of football.

Why would EA "use" you as a beta tester to release a patch? That makes zero sense!

They have your money and they do not have to do anything in the way of patches. Right now, they have hit their stated targets for the first patch and both rosters while acknowledging that they are looking into CCM editing (which they don't have to do).

You got it brother.

When the game first launched I was the first one here bashing the RTP and how sloppy the game looked.

They addressed it in this patch and to me it is a much better experience now. I'am now pleased with this patch and can patiently wait for the next one.

I ws playing on allpro, and Im a all madden guy but it sucks in the online cc, and in all rpo they gave me a good game.

Browns couldn't run well , so I was like ok that was not addressed, but then I played the niners and they were running the ball very well on me , so now im smiling

Im not ready to claim its fixed because I know better than that. I will tell in at least 10 games played if it has improved.

Actually im going to see if all madden is better now lol
