Very nice. For some reason 2k took out the NBA Today stat overlays when talkin about the last game. Glad they brought them back. This may be an odd nitpick but the net didn't animate right once or twice only the back part moved when the ball went through.
Loved the way players bring the rock up. Didn't like seeing Gasol handling the rock above the arc though. No matter. Also I love that the CPU tried to hi Howard on an alley, but it failed. Think I'll have to be on my toes this year.

CPU offensive execution was pretty bad for a Lakers team with 2 elite offensive big men and an elite passing PG that is expected to run some Princeton sets. Some of the same problems that 2K12 had upon release (Kobe dominating offensive touches, offense not utilizing the post, offense not utilizing the schemes that would normally be run in their playbook, big men wandering out on the perimeter in non-P&R situations, and ball-handlers moving without a purpose). Most of the above were due to rosters in 2K12, so we'll see if the same issues are there in 2K13.
If this is what we're getting on release day, then we essentially get the "completed" version of 2K12 with speed fixed, bumping on defense, dynamic shot animations, and new isomotion dribbling. Not bad at all, but not the greatest jump in 2K history as we've been hearing.
That's not necessarily a problem, but I base my sports gaming decisions on how the CPU plays and not how a User can manipulate a joystick. This video removed a little bit of the joy/anticipation that I had going into 2K13.
The Association news probably made up for this today.

10 minutes of gameplay. 1 foul called.
Extrapolate that... 4.8 fouls called per game.
"But iLLosophy, they probably put it on low setting for demo purposes. Stop whining so much and get the sand out of your lady parts..."
That might be the case but for a successor to a game which was horrible at contact and reproducing realistic # of fouls with their default online settings, I need to see proof that guys can actually get into foul trouble this year - out of the box. All this new contact means nothing if no fouls are being called.

I'm sure most of the sim-crowd wants at least a few of the above to be called more often and would understand if 1-2 of the above foul types were rarely called to keep the "fun factor". It's not going to be good, however, if we're seeing none of the above called at a decent rate.
It's early footage though so that's something that should be easily tunable via sliders before/after release. Not a big deal YET.

why is the crowd SO hype all the time....they need to tone that down a bit

The thing that gave me a boner was Kobe's animations in the triple threat.
Looked JUST like him... the loose feet, dropped shoulders, the way he shields the ball...
damn, I need some tissues...

It might just be me but year after year the "swish" animation of the net looks weird - the ball appears to come out of the back of the net sometimes...bugs me for some reason...

Though I'm not doubting the possibility of fouls once again being out of the picture, but I just want to see a good player before making conclusions.

Wow that looked good.
Also looked like me playing... running around the court, prob Pro difficulty, try my best to score and do some moves

I noticed that players no longer wait for double teams to come trap them. I know that in the real NBA that makes sense, but in the GAME, it just defeats the purpose of double team.
hopefully this was on rookie.

Looking great so far. One thing that really stood out to me was the improvement on player voices and court noise. Really sounded like i was watching a real game.
I love the audience chatter "dont let him shoot it" I also like hearing the grunts and noise from the players.
Im liking it
