I figured out that EA's description of how to do the chop is inaccurate.

What you need to do is flick the left stick in a direction away from where your facing while holding the right bumper to activate the chop animation. Tapping it won't work nearly as well.

first..hats off to this guy...makes me wonder if he's really out there to enjoy the game or just find the glitch goals and exploit it online?

if this is not corrected by EA...13 will not be much of a difference compared to other NHL series.

my only gripe in the demo:

1. Sliders - i was hoping that sliders will be included in the demo so we can really test out the game into our likings.

2. Penalties - so far i havent experience penalties on either side.

3. Kinda slow skating - i dont know if EA want it this way in the demo so we could see the speed difference of players which will make it difficult to observe in higher speed sliders (another reason why i want sliders to be in the demo).

How bad could this glitch be for offline or online.

As an offline gamer, I'll never use that move. And I don't believe anyone's seen the CPU use it yet either.

For online, I have a feeling this backward skate will be exploited in different ways, but for this particular goal, using a human goalie should help and I'm sure a good defense can stop it too.

What'll make me drop on the ground laughing is if we discover that checking someone who's doing that results in a hitting from behind penalty, hahaha!

Really enjoyed the demo this morning. Played it about 7-8 times I was pretty happy with the results.

Still somewhat frustrated with the defensive AI on your team that doesn't really make a play for the puck, but the demo felt challenging/realistic to me.

In my 5 or 6 games in HUT I got called for a penalty in 2 or 3 of them. I also got called for a penalty in the NHL Moments Live game.

The CPU had a couple penalties when I was playing. I had a few opportunities to run the PP. So it does happen.

I like the "slow" skating a lot more then the previous speed of the skating. I feel as though it's a lot more realistic and brings a better flow to the game.

Totally unacceptable. A lot of people were asking if this backwards skating thing was going to allow for a glitch goal, and there you go. I can't believe they never tested that. It isn't like that is some bizarre, random thing to try.

I'll probably still get the game just for the offline. For those who want to play EASHL or other online modes... better hope for a tuner set. In the EASHL the D will be playing "prevent D" at the redline just like in 09.

Really like the skating, and the pace of the game overall.

A couple tiny points:

-Why does the default puck size need to be set to large when there is a puck shadow option?

-Reflexes of goalies on default seem to be far too quick.

Gameplay wise, this is the greatest sports game of all time. If Madden had gameplay this good I would probably quit my job and become a hermit. This game is absolutely incredible!

Thank you EA - To those who take control of your goalie in versus mode you can now hug the post properly as to switch back to controlling Defenders it is no longer the trigger as the goalie you have to do LB+A which allows you to fully play Goalie in versus.

skating backwards is so broken, its a blast to do but jeeze louise you can go end to end skating backwards as if your invisible.

I can't believe you fall for that crap either, think about it its a 1vs1 in a game with 10 skaters on the ice that trick will not work. Dam play the game in retail before thinking things are messed up. or better yet why don't you drive to EA canada and see if you infact can do a better job
Dam so tired of complainers before even playing the release of a game. remember this build of the demo could be months old.

So it looks like in overtime you still get a random assignment of forwards out of the selected line when in a 4 on 4 situation. Played a HUT game, went to OT, center (tavares) was out to take the first draw for the first faceoff but not the second, as the game decided to put both my wingers out there for an offensive zone draw.... i know its not major and probably doesn't even have all that big of an effect given how much user input drives faceoff success but man, this has bugged me for years now and i was hoping they'd address it at some point.

The new skating seems to show off a bigger gap in players and opens things up a bit, but i'm almost afraid that its going to be too open, especially against the cpu as i get more comfortable with the new backskating. I'll be interested to see what the sliders can do with regards to trying to make sure that the cpu doesn't just let you skate circles around them like traffic cones.

True broadcast camera is great looking but i can't use it to save my life at this point. I'm so used to being able to see everything at all times over the years with regards to outlet passes and it also screws up my defensive positioning. But, it could be fun to get used to as an additional challenge.

A) Stop the personal attacks
B) Lose the fanboy attitude
C) Go play NHL09 online and let me know how fun it is when a breakaway is a goal 100% of the time.

Just came on here to post this. Woot.

Played the demo. First off, I am a huge 2k10 guy. I didn't like 11 or 12. But I came in with an open mind.

I liked it. Skating feels pretty good. Doesn't have that "EA" feel that I don't like. Felt a little, I don't know, heavier maybe. Played about 9 play now games on Hardcore. Struggled but I'll get it. Looks like it is going to be a solid purchase for me this year.

So far so good. Few things irked me but no game is perfect so I'm good. Very much looking forward to GM Connected with my 4 buddies in coop franchise. First EA NHL purchase since 99 on my N64.

So far I'm just not really sure what to think of the demo. Is it better than NHL 12? No doubt, but NHL 12 for me was the same as NHL 08-11 so really NHL 13 can't be anything but better. The skating is interesting. Some parts of it I really like but there are still some hitches that need to be worked out (totally understandable though).

I'll start off by saying I'm playing Superstar Hardcore. AI wise I'm still seeing a little bit of what we've seen in 12. I'll describe the situation. So I had Kopitar with the puck on the left side board. I skated into the slot past the D man who was defending me. So I get past him but nobody on the CPU goes and tries to knock the puck away from me. The Winger was literally standing still looking like an absolute idiot at my defensman who had nothing to do with the play. The correct thing would have been for that winger to leave his position and come from behind on me and try and prevent me from getting the shot off in a prime scoring location. Needless to say I scored.

So in other words EA said that players are fully aware of things going around them instead of their one job on defending. Well that proved untrue in that situation because it was like the Winger just had their sole job in mind of covering my D man at the blue line instead of trying to help make up for a mistake their D man made when I got past him with Kopitar. It's just infuriating to see it especially on replay. The AI just looked so stupid. I mean Kopitar was literally 2 feet or so from that CPU winger so all the winger had to do is really turn, take maybe one stride and try and poke check/lift stick. I just want the CPU AI to be more aware of mistakes that their teammates make, so that they at least try and attempt to bail out their teammate. Mistakes happen in hockey and that's why you have your teammates to try and help you out. In NHL it's like that doesn't happen.

I'm going to keep playing because obviously the more times you play the more you see. So far though it's better but it still plays very similar to 12 minus the skating. Ultimately what is going to make or break this game is differential between players and teams. Sadly that can't be found out without buying the actual game. Sliders might also play a big role in getting this game the way I want it to play. All I know is I just want variety and different types of games. If I get that, then I will be satisfied. If it feels like the same game each time though, I won't be playing it for long.

Another thought as I'm playing right now is that I still really hate the goalies. I just dislike how they move but I'm not going there again. However, I really like that they are never out of a play. It looks very well done so far.

Good looking out, thanks for the heads up Realm.

Has anyone else noticed that the Net Cam for replays has a lot of jaggies for some reason in the demo?
