Final impressions.

Not worth $60. Maybe if the game was $20-30 bucks I would buy it day one. But imo not enough change to warrant a full game purchase.

I love the new CC Mode, spend a good bit of time reading through the manual. But the IE just doesn't change the gameplay on the field, it feels exactly the same as 12 to me just sped up a bit. Outside of that 13 has all the major issues of 12 that I couldn't stand.

Some good presentation (Game looks and sounds really good) additions, but gameplay is still sub par. I think I'll stick with 12 for another year.

Demo is cool. Full game would be better.

I don't know you but I don't believe you. If you have really bought this game since 92, you are going to buy it...

Gotta agree with you "B" Ain't no way in hell someone buys this game for 20 yrs straight and decides to skip a year, at least not this one. Now if you had of said Madden 06 I might of believed you

I cancelled my pre-order. I really enjoyed the demo but there wasn't enough there to validate another purchase this season.

First time playing madden since i left it 4 years ago. Physics are good year one i will wait til the third year(or even if they keep it around) and see if it is worth a purchase.

NHL13 has the full physics package after 3 years.

Enjoyed the demo, looks and feels closer to the real thing. However I have one frustration I have, and it's with all sports games, is why can't they get the refs to be mechanically correct? How hard is it to research the correct end of play signals and mechanics? Why do they always move like puppets and are constantly out of position? I guess this drives me nuts because I'm a sports official (youth and HS) and it kills the immersion sometimes.

Raised AI rush blocking from 50-100 to see how extreme it'd be.

They ran for 100 yards and the top rusher averaged over 5 YPC.

This makes me happy. I don't want to mess with sliders all the time, but I'm gonna try 75 next and see what I see.

I just want something close to average for the CPU.

Do you think it is an issue with the blocking or with the RB's decision making (in which case you could toy with the BT instead)?

All in all, I am enjoying the demo and think that there have been great improvements over last year. However, there are a few things I dislike about what I have seen.

1 (this is the big one) - The new replay system
Whoever came up with this idea doesn't deserve to be making a sports game. EA go on and on about how they are trying to make the presentation more like what we see on television. Guess what? You had the replays close enough to correct all along. Now we see three different angles of the quarterback handing off the ball, and when it actually shows a tackle, it cuts out before we get a chance to see the entire tackle. It's nice to have good presentation before and after games, but presentation during the game should be the top priority.

2 - The play speeds
In previous versions of Madden, the slow speed has been almost perfect for me. I feel as if it was a speed very similar to the real NFL. This year however, it seems that slow has become quite a bit faster. Now it is much too fast, and very slow is too slow. They should have a slider which allows us to change speed more precisely.

3 - The physics engine
I love the new physics engine, and in the demo it clearly makes a difference to how games are played. However, from gameplay I've seen from the retail version, it appears that the physics engine has been toned down. This angers me as in the demo, if anything, the physics engine was not powerful enough.

There you have it. My rant about the problems in Madden NFL 13.

I don't know if I'd want to toy with Broken Tackles if I thought the running back's made bad decisions. Doesn't Madden already have too many broken tackles as is? (I haven't played much Madden in years so this may be a very old issue that's been resolved).

My issue with running is I got to the RB way too soon. I like to play the line (insert jokes here about the lack of challenge. But it's what I like to play. I prefer trying to get to the QB) and I seem to somehow have a knack for stuffing the RB behind the line (I don't claim to be a great Madden player at all, but this is the one thing I actually know how to do in the game. Or maybe it's just too easy to do in the game).

So by raising run block, I made it harder for me to get through the line and harder for my AI teammates. As a result, no matter what decisions the RB made - whether good or bad - the holes were there and they took them.

100 was a little much, but I purposely made it high to see if I would see a difference. I definitely did.

But, I think it's all about recognizing what you do too well and limiting it. Perhaps, for you, it's raising broken tackles because you have a knack for hitting backs in the right spot. I don't. I'm terrible at tackling and routinely miss guys even without mashing the Dive button. I just suck so raising BT would probably make me useless with the controller.

Still not able to locate the Madden13 demo for the 360, I tried the route shown on the first page but still no luck. Anyone else have this issue? any suggestions? Thanks.

While playing on All-Madden, with default sliders (most likely my mistake?), the only thing really annoying me in this demo is the poor AI lead blocking decisions. I'll be running a stretch right with Gore, and my FB is in perfect position to seal the edge on the outside... Then cut back inside and block a LB that's not even close to making the tackle.

Other than that, kickoff and punt return blocking is amazing now. I'm averaging somewhere around a 25% Kickoff Return for TD ratio, using Return Middle.

FBs appear to have blocking priority set for MLB then olb. not only on stretch plays but if the d brings a safety into the box on a blitz the FB tends to ignore the safety and pick up the MLB on runs up the middle. I do however like the pulling guard blocking ai. they tend to kick or seal when appropriate.

Yes I agree with the Season Ticket from EA and ability to play it Friday, I am not all the pressed to go out and break the bank to have a game 4 days early.

the return blocking is too good. Ive had waaaay too many untouched KR/PR Td's on All Madden or All Pro.

agree. not at all pressed to go get the game 4 days early unless it was the hard copy of the game. since its not. 8 days it is.
