2K Sports Announces Jay-Z as NBA 2K13 Executive Producer, 24 Song Soundtrack Included

As mentioned yesterday, 2K Sports has officially announced Jay-Z as the as Executive Producer of NBA 2K13. 2K Sports has been promoting this "BIG" announcement for weeks.

In an article, over at ESPN, Jon Robinson describes some of the details he brings to the game.

-____- , i actually have a good clue .. i taped some gameplay and they even gave me a spreadsheet of whats new or improved in the game .. i will put it up tonight in a forum or some sort

I'm sure there is more to the announcement than the soundtrack. 2k didn't announce the whole announcement yet. The soundtrack was was just some leaked details to the announcement.

The only think in the game that the new soundtrack is going to make better is the game's soundtrack. I'm sure 2k is going to show some gameplay video in a few weeks.

Jay Z didnt just want his name slapped on the box. It sounds like he really wanted to help with this game. I dont think they thought Jay Z would do much outside of Soundtrack and resources. I didnt know he was a "huge gamer". He doesnt seem like he has the free time to be a huge gamer.

Like others(and I) said before it is a wait and see thing.

More like "biggest disappointing hyped up announcement in 2k history". I can't wait untill Sept when we hear and see more about the meat & potatoes of the game. Regarding the gameplay & game mode improvements, which are the most important things.

You touched on it... resources. Bringing resources and notoriety to the brand is what has 2K hyped. I don't think it's bigger than integrating the greatest basketball player of all time, but Jay-Z is bigger than Michael Jordan to a lot of people. His name could help finance the development of the game. We only see it so far in the rights to popular tracks, but who's to say he can't also leverage greater technology, or official TV network graphics and integration?

There is a lot more to this than a soundtrack, I feel.

To tell the truth, I've never been a big Jay-Z fan of his music;
That being said, I was just knocked out by his imput of the new Brooklyn Nets look.
So I have to respect his Artistic talents on some level.
I just hope his imput on 2K is more in line with his Nets, and less with some of his songwriting.

Looks like I will be going through the menus on mute, they should have kept the underground tracks. Jay is awful.

I honestly hope that 2k releases more details on 2k13 soon, because the game is already coming out in 2 months and it seems they didn't release that many details about the game yet. They've only shown 1 video of gameplay for 2k13. Ea released Madden 13 details all the way back in April, 4 months before release. 2k still hasn't released that many details about the game and it's coming out in 2 months.

All you guys gotta do is think about what you want for .. I mean tons of people were complaining about how all 2k's music is terrible and they gave us better music .. The announcement was not at all what we were expecting but I mean just watch what we all ask for another example is last year with 2k11 we had all the current free agents then we complained about it and 2k removed all of them ..
I can tell 2k13 should be a good game they realized what they did wrong with 2k12 and the 2k13 gameplay trailer wasn't perfect but it looked nice and playable.

I agree with you on everything you said. But I wish 2k never removed all of those free agents because they would've helped us make more accurate classic roster because we could have cyberfaces instead of created players. 2k should of hid them because in 2k10 when they removed Rasheed Wallace, Brent Barry, Steve Francis, Etc. they were still in the disk but hidden. In 2k12, the players removed from 2k11, weren't on the disk at all. People complain too much. 2k gives them what they ask for and they still complain.

This would be a really cool announcement, if they hadn't built up our hopes for some kind of earth-shattering, gameplay innovation over the last few weeks.

I expect this kind of stuff from EA, but not you 2K. I'm going to let this one slide, but don't let it happen again guys. lol

I'm starting to think this is going to have to do with more than music. A lot of us maybe jumped the gun on this one thinking it was strictly about music. I'll wait until I see the actual game before making any more assumptions.
