There shouldnt be too much to complain about that isnt known at this point. They gave valid reasons why certain things werent in and as gaming community we should hold them to that. Im going to support the game this year but if they dont put the things back in like editing rosters in next year, im sure Ill go on a Madden hiatus like I did before.
Ok, so the one thing I've probably noticed is that the one complaint that people seem to have is that you can't edit players. If that's seriously the biggest concern, why not just play Madden 13 all year then? You can edit every single player you want and not have to deal with any of these 'dud' features that connected careers will bring.

Its a pretty big deal to have control dude. Alot of people like to structure their own Franchise to their liking. Editing numbers, equipment, boosting or subtracting player ratings, adjusting contracts to real life, creating new players in the league. Dont marginalize the feature just because you dont find it useful. Its a very useful tool when you want to adjust things, and no most people that use it dont want to set their team up as all 99 OVR either. NBA2k does this balance very well. You can edit players IF you want but also use practice sessions to boost ratings. In the end its about user control sir.

Can see what you mean mate, and you're right, I don't use it as much as others so I probably don't see the big benefit from it. Although I do love adding visors to my linebackers just to make them look meaner! From a feature standpoint though, I think that if people aren't excited about what CC can potentially bring above and beyond Madden 13, then they could probably get away with just playing Madden 13. eg play your own franchise and edit everything the way you want it from that standpoint - you'll have the same control and be able to edit everyone. Because let's face it, the game play itself probably won't change a ton. I guess I just don't like seeing people dismiss what appear to be pretty massive and generally speaking great developments for something that is relatively small in the overall scheme of things.
Again, online franchise was BARREN of MOST offline franchise features for 3 years, yet I don't recall seeing as much wailing and gnashing of teeth about that even in year 3 as I have in a month and half over this.
Because a lot of us don't care about Madden online. We are crying that our OFFline features are gone. If I could keep the offline features and set my CCM to offline only, I would do it in a heart beat. I sympathize with online players, always have, and there WAS a lot of crying about online mode during Madden 10 and the first few months of Madden 11... but you might have forgotten about that.
Exactly. Online people just don't get it, Josh Looman doesn't get it. Online gaming is nice and all but don't pretend that every person plays online. It seems that Josh is pretending that everyone plays Online, and just because they don't want to do more work, they just combine everything into one mode because it's easier. Yeah Offline and Online has different coding, so what big deal. Plus it's not our fault that EA released Online Franchise so bare in the beginning when they shouldn't have made it with it lacking so much.
Honestly, I think it has gotten to the point where offline doesn't even matter anymore and that Offline to them is a thing in the past and they have this odd theory that everyone is playing online when in reality not everyone plays online.
Everyone is gushing over CCM and we all know that you will all see the point us offline folks have been making about lack of user control. So don't bother flip flopping and asking for the ability to edit when you have said you don't need it or anything. Trust me, I expect a lot of flip floppers after everyone plays it.
I don't think many people will be flip flopping. You won't find many people that are absolutely against the missing the features being in the game.
I love editing players. Does it suck it's not in the game? Yeah. Will it detract from my CCM experience? Probably a little bit. Is it going to completely hinder my ability to enjoy playing multiple seasons? No way.
If NCAA imports were implemented better, I'd probably buy NCAA and have simultaneous season's going on. Come August and September I'll be enjoying several seasons of offline franchise.
I've always been an offline gamer first and foremost and the missing features don't bother me much right now.
The biggest one for me is no co-op but I can live without the others.
Also look at it this way. "offline gamers" have had these features while "online gamers" online franchise has been crap since it's inception.
Now the online stuff is getting some love and for the first year offline has to suffer a bit.. Yet it's the offline group that is all up in arms with just 1 year without these things.
EA says they want to get these things back i. So if true both sides will be happy (to a point) eventually.
Just have to wait and see....

On top of this, the biggest point is that their is no 'on or offline' modes any more. You can play both modes and they will have the same features going forward, so developers won't rob the rich to feed the poor

Which is a lot of the problem. I remember a lot of the postings prior to the CCM and physics announcements where online players were predicting that online has to finally get some love, and so many people who only play offline blew it off like it didn't matter whether or not online got any type of update.
For the most part, the online players here have sympathized with offline players taking some hits, meanwhile before this all came to light the offline guys were extremely apathetic about online. Your line about "a lot of us don't care about online" hits it exactly on the head - it's borderline greedy how some of the people here are ready to riot over the fact that they're not the ones getting the new toys for the first time in a while.

This post has me facepalming so hard. "Online people don't get it?" Really? We spent how many years with next to no features, and we don't get it? We're the first ones who get it.
What I don't get is why so many people have these conspiracy theories and pretend (as you say Looman is doing) that they know what's happening behind the scenes. You don't. No one does.
And I'm with you. I also expect a lot of flip floppers - the difference is that I know many people will see their poor expectations exceeded, and there will be the same amount of people who will see their high expectations end in disappointment. It's the same every year, and this year is no different.

There are no imports.
Could I buy and enjoy Madden 13? Yeah probably. The presentation improvements and "best on best" [or what they used to call man align] being brought back... and the infinity engine, and passing improvements might cause me to end up getting the game... but WOW is here a HUGE list of thing I do all the time in franchise mode that are missing in CCM.
Right now I am actually putting the time and energy into building a custom offensive playbook for Madden 12 because I expect to be playing it for the next year. I only got the game back in Feb. and while I put together a defensive playbook, I knew an offensive book would be time consuming, so I wanted to wait until we got Madden 13 news.
- I wrote the Madden 09, 10 and 11 fantasy draft guides here at OS.
- I wold regularly play co-op or at least two player offline franchise with my friend[s] for years going back to Madden 03.
- I have used custom rosters for franchise mode going back to my first Madden game, 02 on the NGC. [It took so long to save franchise on the memory card, I could literally get up and make lunch and come back by the time it was done saving.]
- We used to import NCAA rosters back when we had to put the names in ourselves. Locker Share or what ever it is called was a life saver. For years Madden's random generated rookies were garbage. At least the hand crafted rookies are interesting.
- Back on the original Xbox, I used to use the play creator feature like crazy. I was pretty happy we finally got custom playbooks in Madden 12.
- I would play marquee games on the schedule all the time.
I can't do any of this anymore. I'm sorry, but a twitter feed just isn't worth the trade off.

PG,
I understand you are frustrated, but I think that statement is a bit unfair without trying CCM and it's bazillion other features. Sorry, I loved Head Coach and I'm happy a lot of those features will be in Madden.
You make it sound like CCM is just a twitter feed.
I'm an offline gamer, but I never used any of those features that were left out. I feel for people who used those features, but at the same time, I'm willing to see what this CCM is all about before I declare anything positive or negative.
Your line about "a lot of us don't care about online" hits it exactly on the head - it's borderline greedy how some of the people here are ready to riot over the fact that they're not the ones getting the new toys for the first time in a while.
Well, I understand how crappy it has been for online players, what I really mean by "I don't care about online" is that online is FILLED with casual and free style players. There are only a few trusted people I would play with, and most of them are only on the PS3, or don't really play online either. For example, RGiles has been an offline franchise mode guy too. Every time I see him logged into XBL, he is playing Madden 11 or 12 offline franchise mode over the last two years. I have played LBzrule twice ever, both were tight OT victories. I played Taz and Big FN Deal a few times each, and a few of you other guys... and that's about it. the rest of my online madden time is against randoms or the fun [but casual] OTP mode.
I play shooters online all the time, or at least I used to. I have a lot of hours logged into CoD4, MW2, Battlefield Bad Compay 2 & Battlefield 3, and Halo 2 & 3. Shooting games a whole different beast to me. Anything goes. It's chaos. It's war. Set up a defensive position and hold it! Take the flag! Blow up the MCOM! Revive your buddy, throw ammo, repair the tank, disarm the MCOM, knife that guy, blow a hole in that wall, and don't forget to spot!
In Madden I am trying to play a realistic NFL experience... but default online ranked/unranked matches don't have custom sliders, so ratings don't mean much and the AI is terrible.
Offline franchise lets me play with custom settings that help make the game more playable. It gets to the point that I just can't care about online Madden.
By the way, why can we play OTP, but no OTP CCM? THAT would be fun. I would love to have some OTP CCM.

I agree, it isn't completely fair, but in a lot of ways, all CCM is is story mode. I disagree with the removal of potential. If it takes a ton of points, or a long time to earn points to improve someone, then how is the Madden 12 version of a gem going to work? Someone with a lot of potential but has to work on a few areas... like a Tim Tebow? He has like 67 medium accuracy in the final roster update. How much XP do I need ot make him an 80 accuracy? how long will that take? Do I have to sacrifice the future of the rest of my team to do that? is there a curve? Why should I sacrifice the future of my team to tell Tebow to work on throwing through tires in the off season?
I ran a hands off AI controlled Madden 12 franchise and saved each season individually as a separate file. In like year 7 the Bengals won the Super Bowl and I took a look at their roster. They were STACKED on defense. A closer look showed they had two monster drafts in year three and 4 of A potential rookies from later rounds along with a good first rounder or second rounder two over those years as well. Going back to the older files, they also drafted busts, but the stars progressed and progressed and earned starting roles and really helped them become a young talented team. I just don't see something cool like that happeneing in Madden 13 with this XP system. Maybe [hopefully] I am wrong, but I just don't see it.
In real life, you can look at the Cowboys team that the Tuna built, or the Chargers team Marty built, or the way the Cardinals were built they year they went to the Super Bow... or how the Steelers have built their teams year after year with solid draft picks throughout the draft.
Sure, from what I read, if you have system players on your team they will earn more XP [faster XP] than non-system guys, but that just doesn't feel like enough. I don't know unti li play it or hear from others who do, but I am not sold on the idea. Not given EA's track record. It takes a long time to iron out the kinks, and it felt like Madden 12 had a decent progression system in place... and now it is scrapped.

this thread is about ccm not default online matches. ccm allows for custom sliders and settings.

Its not about us offline playing being mad because we don't get get toys for the first time in a long time, its the fact that EA took away the toys we already had and like playing with. Importing rookies, editing rosters, controlling more than one team in franchise etc.
I hate these kinda "interviews" they just get softball questions or get asked specifically about some feature the company wants to hype.
I want a real interview where somebody asks them tough questions. I want somebody to ask why they took out NCAA rookies, why they wont let rosters be edited, why cant you control more than one team and things like that.
what I eally mean by "I don't care about online" is that online is FILLED with casual and free style players.
That's really where the issue lies then, especially if all the mostly offline players share your thinking. I would say for the most part, those of us here on OS who play online play in online franchises, and I haven't come across any so far who would allow freestylers. They wouldn't make it more than a game or two without getting the boot.
When it comes to online play now, I share your sentiments and don't care about that either. But online franchise and CCM isn't the way you seem to think.
I'm at work. Can someone sum up what was said/shown in this video?
Personally, I'm an offline player and I've never been more excited for a Madden game. If it's anything like HC09, it will probably be my favorite sports game ever.

Understand what you are saying, but do you really think the answers would be different than what they've been giving us?
