Madden NFL 13 News Post

It all seemed too good to be true.

Now after this week's bombshells that you cannot edit players in connected careers or play any other games in the mode other than your own, it seems like the Madden team is once again forcing you to play your game their way. To me, this is a huge problem. Others of you? Maybe not so much. But let's hear it: Has the 'closed' nature of Connected Careers turned you away and/or cooled your enthusiasm about Madden NFL 13?

Sound off!

Everyone should tweet @Josh_Looman. Tell him how you really feel, I have.

Two days ago I wanted this game, now I don't want it at all. Looks like no football for me this year, because NCAA doesn't really excite me either. It's a shame, because this mood really did seem promising, four days ago.

So be happy that EA is aiming for the casual fan.
Where in my post do I imply I am a casual fan? Is it because I don't spend hours making sure my 3rd string DE has the correct face mask? Turns out that features I don't use did not make the cut this year. I don't care about any other team because I'm a hard core online gamer and will be involved in a hardcore online franchise with 31 other people that play with SIM rules. But hey, I guess I am happy EA is aiming for the "casual" fan because I know I'll be enjoying the game this year.

I have a feeling the new infinity engine is not going to work as good as they think and the sound/commentary in the vids has been horrible so maybe it's good that they took out roster editing and playing other games too, makes it easier to just try it out with season ticket and not have to purchase this Madden 11.5.

I admit they got me with the hype again, it looked really good this year until they gave us the ole "now for the bad news"

Well that just shows a lack of immaturity and you deserved to be blocked.

Completely agree with this and Yes I'm completely disgusted.

Are they really picking up this many new football fans every year that dont get exactly what is going on here? this new generation of football fans are happy with WWE tackling and rosters that have the wrong players and numbers and they dont care? Wow!

call me unimpressed with the vids, the gameplay doesnt blow me away, I'm sorry.

This is terrible and the lowest of the low, even for "the companies" standards!

I'll take some occasional WWE tackles over being completely locked into certain animations any day. And I doubt the rosters that ship will have completely wrong players and Peyton Manning wearing number 72.

It is slightly funny as long as it doesn't get personal. Some of the sarcasm is just hilarious.

Yes on not being able to edit/create players. Will not be purchasing this year because of this. No imported drafts was almost the deal breaker, but creating players would of been the substitute.

They should put an option to change a player's position at the end of the season. Like if you want to move a CB to the FS position. Or turn a tackle into a guard or something. I wouldn't think it would take very long to implement a change like that.

Wouldn't a lack of immaturity mean that the person is mature?

EA does it again, give them what they want and take away something they had. This movement to online play for everything is really getting old. Now my next door neighbor has to buy a 360 and get xbox live just to play me. It is all about the dollars, because offline co-op will be back next year and guess what another Madden purchase. What ever happened to making a game so good you could not help, but get it? This could have been "THE MADDEN" easily, but realistically they don't want to give you that so you can get Madden again next year. Next years selling point "now you can play co-op with friends"; thanks a lot EA. NBA 2k11 was outrageous, but just because you expect so much, most people probably went out and got 2k12. It may be debatable which was better, but I know everyone has an eye out to see what is up with 2k13. Nonetheless, looks like it is going to be a NCAA year now. At least I can play with my friends around the way.

See your assuming that they were rude when people have said they asked simple questions and got blocked for no reason. I'm sorry but Josh's "It's My way or the highway attitude" is going to turn people away and make them feel disrespected. So you know the saying treat people the way you want to be treated, well Josh is being rude to people so guess what, he wants to be rude, then they will be rude to him.

Josh can't have it both ways and that's like treating someone so bad and when they start treating you the same way, you get upset at them when the whole time you were doing to them what they did to you. Right now Josh is treating the customers so bad and being rude that when customers starting doing what he is doing to them, he is getting upset, believes he is in the right(not realizing he is being rude back to them) and blocking them.
I have seen them so I'm not assuming anything. While most people do take a more respectful approach, there is the few people that feel the need to say things like "You and the entire EA Sports crew are lazy, incompetent, hacks. You don't deserve to have a f***** job."

Things like that will get you blocked.

People also ask him why stuff didn't make it in but refuse to accept any answer other than "It will be in M13".

This.

I can't tell you how many cases of beer were put away between friends and I over some games of virtual football. It's a real shame that they're clipping the wings of franchise players in Connected Careers, a feature that, otherwise, sounds like it's the God-send we [Head Coach players] have been asking for for years.

The main reason I'm not deterred by what is being left out of CC is that it is obvious that there is a plan to make something that will be truly amazing. If I have to go a year without editing players or having a fantasy draft in order to have the best career mode in sports gaming then I will happily take that sacrifice.

Just because the so-called list of 'improvements/additions' is longer than the negatives, doesn't necessarily mean they outweigh them or outweigh them enough to forget the omissions. I don't know what's so difficult for people to understand that what one may like or feel are worthy enough improvements that outweigh the negatives may not be the same sentiments as everyone else.

For example, you mention the 32 play in OF that WE asked for. I don't play OF, nor do I have any interest in it, so you aren't speaking for all of us. I would much rather have the ability to edit rosters than have anything online-related, but at the same time I'm not going to try to devalue what other consumers think is important, because it's different from what I like.

People act like just the ability to add multi-colored visors was removed; the things removed were core aspects that were important to a lot of Madden's past consumers. I'm still confused as to how something can be so great, that removes many aspects that were in previous games, going years back.

That'd be like saying the new Xbox 3 will be revolutionary because of the ability to watch different sports packages, new voice commands or whatever else is new, but we've removed the ability to use Netflix, YouTube, or be backwards compatible for previous Xbox games.

Uhh...yeah, in YOUR opinion. In YOUR opinion, it was much bigger, but I'm sure you can see, that's not the opinion of everyone, and it doesn't mean our 'panties are in a wad'.

I don't play online in any capacity whatsoever, and I only played SS in the past to kill time or in between franchise games. The whole, twitter feeds, CCM, whatever, doesn't entice me whatsoever, but good for those that are happy.

But please, stop with subtle insults towards people who, heaven forbid, care more about controlling all 32 teams so MJD doesn't get traded for a bag of peanuts or making sure a new addition to a roster isn't wearing a retired number, etc.

I also like how Madden 13 bragged about adding all this new equipment that we can't even use on rosters, yet, NCAA, who still offers the ability to fully edit rosters, didn't add anything new.

I feel like I'm being punk'd.

# 238 DeuceDouglas @ 06/14/12 02:15 AM
The entire thing is a matter of opinion. Everybody puts different weight on certain things. What is HUGE to one person means nothing to another person and vice versa. You take something away and the people that really like it are going to be angry and the people that don't care for it are going to be indifferent.

It has turned me away. All I would play was 2 team franchise and compete against my cousin. Ill just stick to m12 and use updated rosters..
