Another MLB 12 The Show game update arrived this morning, bring it up to version 1.16. Check below for the details and let us know what you are seeing.
  • Schedules and box score were misaligned for a portion of the games for certain teams.
  • Occasionally when loading into online games, an empty field (home plate view) would be shown and user has to PS button out.
  • Analog bunting interface, versus a behind the pitcher view in online games would cause a frequent freeze when the user on offense bunted.

Well this is just ****ing great.

Here's my deal:

I started up the game a few hours ago, was prompted to download the patch and did so without hesitation. I currently have a Blue Jays franchise that is in the middle of July (July 18th, 2012). It was started before this and the last patch were released and is using the OSFM spring training rosters. With the last patch I had a freeze at the opening screen where it shows the CN Tower by Rogers Centre and a freeze when viewing the box score of a game against the A's. Other than that, no freezing issues.

Now after downloading this patch I played the third game in a series against the Yankees. There was some lag during camera cuts to the pitcher but other than that the game went fine. I finish it and go to sim to the next day and the game freezes. Now I'm stuck at that point in my franchise -- and BTW I wasn't logged into PSN. I tried to go a few days ahead and sim to that point but it still freezes right when it's attempting to advance the schedule to July 19th.

I have no idea what to do from here. I'm assuming I can delete the patch and try that. That would be the file in the Game Data Utility folder, right?

Other than that, I guess I'm stuck sitting here crossing my fingers that all of the games I played and time I invested into this franchise isn't flushed down the toilet, because that would really piss me off. I was very into my franchise, was doing much better than expected, and was having a great time. I don't want to lose that. I'll get over it eventually if I have to restart but again, that's really going to suck.

Hopefully SCEA lets us know what the deal is today.

it almost seems like alot of people are bragging about not freezing. do u think we are all making it up to hate on the game? i think its pretty much confirmed anyone playing rtts that happened to be post all star break when they got the patch are left with a broken game. do we need anymore confirmations about people who werent in that situation? its a real problem. count yourself lucky if the game works. mine, does NOT

I went on and dl'd the patch and have had no problems, in fact, I think the game plays better now. Not seeing the hard hit balls every at bat, not seeing the pitcher comeback smashes, not seeing the hits to the wall and still getting thrown out at second base. I'm happy with this patch.

You do realize it helps the process when people confirm they're not experiencing freezes under whatever situation they're in, right? People aren't trying to "brag", they're trying to help.

Just deleted the patch data, tried to sim past the same date, and froze again. Started it up again and tried to advance by going into the Today's Games screen but still no luck. I also went into the lineup and manage roster screens, toggled through every lineup and all levels of my organization and had no freezes there, so it's only freezing when it's trying to advance to the next day.

So I guess I can pretty stick a knife in my franchise, which is just awesome.....

Yea BlueNGold I'm in the same exact situation.

157 games played and I won't get to see the end of the season

Just sitting here praying for a miracle from SCEA lol.

Wow, that is just brutal. I feel for you much more than I feel for myself lol. My frustration would be multiplied x1000 if I had played THAT many games.

For your sake and the rest of us that are getting these frustrating freezes, here's hoping we can be saved. I'm not going to delete my file until I hear what the word is from them but in the meantime it looks like I'm restarting.

How does saying 'i got the patch and my game works fine' help anyone? There's no information there. What mode? When in the season?

I wish I could bring myself to play through a whole nother season of Braves baseball. However, I don't think I can.

I had a plan that I was doing well at working towards and it is totally crushed atm lol. Got the trades I wanted to get done, the division title in my grasp, a good set of scouting ready for the next amateur draft, and poof gone.

I'm hoping we hear something today about this stuff. If we don't looks like I'll be doing a new team for a franchise. That is about the only way I'd make it through season 1 again lol.

Okay here goes, I havent played 12 for about a week now and was going to fire it up again tonight for some serious playing again till I read this thread. Now I play only season / RTTS & I do not play online, I have not had any problems from the 1.06 patch so far, So my question is: If I down load this new patch am I rolling the dice for problems or will I be okay for what I play ??? Thanks for the help to anyone.

Dookie,

I know you were have freezing issues as I was. So what you are saying is that you deleted the patch, went into the game and played/simmed some more games in your RttS, then re-downloaded the patch and all is well now?

You're rolling the dice. Hold off and don't download it until the guys from SCEA comment on what the issue is.

If you do download the patch, make backup saves of your files beforehand.

Because it shows that this isn't an issue with everyone. It's called a process of elimination.

Plenty of people in this thread who've said their game is fine have stated whether or not they're past the all-star break or not, using OSFM rosters, etc.

Thanks very much, No down load for me then. I hope they will be able to fix this soon

Yep. That is correct. Not sure what made it start working with the patch, but it is. Other than the teams with a ton of loses.

Exactly. I haven't had any freezing, period. Not after either patch. I did try to replicate what others were doing, who were freezing, in order to see if there was something in the general user navigation or the file saves themselves.

Did you happen to save your franchise after you sim'd through those July 17th games?

So its been over 48 hours now. When can we expect acknowledgment from someone responsible? So far its just the community trying to help people. I can understand if its something I did to the game myself. But when a patch breaks my game there should be an announcement. Wouldn't want them to have to write a 3 sentence statement on the weekend. That's asking too much

...so just restart your franchise. Why do you need someone to come out and say this? You realize you can stop wasting your time "waiting" and just play the game?

You've been here two days. Relax - this is an Impressions Thread, not a "I demand an announcement" thread.

I just basically started over. Deleted 1.06 patch, my franchise, etc and re dl'd patch along with the newest offering. went in the vault and found Hustlin Owl's latest roster and started anew. No problems. Previously whenever I encountered the freeze I'd start new franchises as suggested and still had freezing problems. Now I don't. Go figure. One thing that might have caused mine was I use STL as my team (Go Cards) and the opening game is with Miami (Wasn't they one of those teams that was listed as causing some of the problems?). Now everything is good. Hope those still having problems find a solution

*If your franchise is past the All-Star break, the patch will freeze your franchise when trying to advance a day. The records for certain teams will also be jacked up.

*For franchises past the All-Star break, once you reach the post season, the franchise will no longer freeze.

*once you start a new season, the patch will no longer freeze the franchise mode.

Also, it appears that once you reach the September call-ups(primarily after the minor league playoffs are finished) the patch will no longer freeze the franchise mode.

While its not ideal, at least the franchise will straighten itself out.

Enjoy!
