I doubt it because in this mode you are not really looking for all these top tier cards, this mode is more about developing your team to compete.

Okay....yeah....there was going to be some sort of low ceiling for cards somehow(maybe according to overall?) to stop cheating. I vaguely remember that being discussed.
That's what you get for trying to do 3 things at once and watch someone else play a game as well!!

Still would love to know how fatigue with pitchers works in this mode. Basically, is there something preventing me from developing a top tier starter, a reliever or two and a closer and then paying no mind to the rest of my rotation and bullpen. This would allow me to allocate more of my budget to the offensive side of the ball but still be lights out pitching because I only have to use 3-4 pitchers out of 11 or 12.

Can more than one person have the same nickname for their team? It would be nice if each team name had to be unique but I can understand why that would be bad.

There is stamina involved.. But I'm not 100% sure if it works like a regular franchise does. You can develop 3 or 4 great pitchers and pay no mind to the rest, that's your decision.. But eventually those 3 or 4 pitchers will be retired, every player has a shelf life. So you'll need to continue developing new pitchers to replace the ones on the way out. There is definitely a strategy involved. But I get what you're saying. I'm pretty confident you can't use the same starting pitcher 30 games in a row.

Do you remember how they said they were going to slot you into these?

Every 5 games you're re-evaluated.. I believe everyone starts in the spring training division and then moves up (or stays there) based on your performance every 5 games. But what I'm not sure about is the specific length of each division, in regards to the awards the players can win. I do remember a conversation about a certain # of days/weeks in each division.

I'm unfamiliar with the Madden and FIFA UT, but once you get the player cards, can you use those players unlimited times? The way Diamond Dynasty sounds, you could buy the MLB cards, but those players can only be used in a handful of games, so they would have to keep buying MLB packs over and over to have the best teams.

EA's Ultimate Team modes have it to where you have a limited amount of time with a player before you can't use them anymore. You can buy "contract" cards to keep them around, but it's difficult to keep a team together. The thing I hate about EAUT is that you pretty much have to buy cards with real money in order to be any type of successful. I don't mind spending a few bucks, but I don't want to put in a load of money just to have fun. However, SCEA has said that this will not be the case.

You have a card - you activate the player so you can play with him. He now has a limited amount of time to be used when playing games.

Once that is up, he retires and you find a replacement - again through cards.

Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

Sorry, I haven't read through all 20+ pages, so I have to ask:

Are career lengths going to be position- or potential-driven, or completely random?
I'm just wondering how career stats will be compared if players play longer/shorter careers than others.

Also have the career lengths been mentioned? Are we talking 50 games or 500?

I'm only wondering based on the fact that there will be a HoF; How can one player be compared to another with more or less opportunity?

Hope that makes sense.

I'm really going to like this mode. I already like the idea of UT, but the problem is I don't know all the players in the NHL, AHL, NFL, etc. Now that's a thing of the past.

Add on top of that uni and team creator, I have a feeling I'll be much better at creating logos instead of faces.

From what we saw....the real MLB players have short career lengths(9-15 games let's say)....and the generated players have longer career lengths...40-50 games.

I'm guessing there would have to be some sort of minimum amount of games played or AB's/IP's....to qualify.
Remains to be seen.

So once an MLB plaeyer "retires" will we never see him again or does he get recycled back into card from?

# 218 EnigmaNemesis @ 02/13/12 01:44 PM
Think of MLB players more like "rentals". Very expensive ones.

So chances are you can still get them again baring cost.

He can show up again in card form.

See, this is where Diamond Dynasty is going to be really sweet. Just for an example: I can see my team having real players like say Jason Kendell or Brandon Inge... maybe a high rated player like Ian Kinsler. Then, I can see a high level dynasty player, some mid tier players, and the rest.

That's where the fun comes in with customization. I'd love to see some of my ancient relatives like Doc and Jimmy Johnston take the field, or maybe some really old players like Germany Smith at shortstop, or Dan Brouthers at first. Heck, you can have completely fictional players like Buckeye Cooper at pitcher*. The team becomes completely yours; that's what makes this mode so exciting. I really can't wait for more information

*I claim the rights to Buckeye Cooper and his handlebar mustache with the old-timer delivery. Don't get any funny ideas about stealing mine!
