Like the NFL 2K series and the MVP Baseball series from EA Sports, the College Hoops series is a defunct series that sports gamers have been missing since the legendary College Hoops 2K8. With all of the improvements to NBA 2K since CH 2K8’s release in 2007, fans can only envision what the team at 2K could do with the series now. What if 2K was releasing College Hoops 2K12? Here’s what the OS review might look like.

The crazy thing is that 4 years later, I STILL play CH2k8. I almost hope the NBA doesn't come back so 2K will be forced to create CH2k13 because they won't have rights to any NBA players. If they did bring the game back, this is what I'd want to see:

- Elite Uniforms and Elite socks
- Shoe customization like NBA 2k12
- The ability to earn a Nike/Jordan, Adidas, UA contracts for your school and prior to that your small school wears generic footwear
- Player height/size more significant when recruiting
- Ability to attempt transfers to come to your school
- License real ABA (AAU) teams (Atlanta Celtics, NY Gauchos, Oakland Soldiers, ETC)
- Ability to move or join conferences after starting your dyansty
- Real individual work outs (shooting gun, real drills etc.)
- Small school start off with generic shoes and eventually can earn a Nike, Adidas or Under contract.
- Ability to convince players not to leave for the draft
- Ability to design new uniforms through year (access to all uniform templates in the game and can customize with your team colors)
- Ability for small schools to earn a new arena (will help with recruiting)
- College dunk contest and can work on dunks during warm-ups
- Warm up in school sweats

- SLAM and DIME magazine covers with ABA players
- ABA player highlight tapes for good players (think ballislife or hoopsmixtape.com)
- Players send highlight tapes to coaches
- Assistant coaches have relationship with specific ABA programs

-NBA players come back to scrimmage with team in the off season
- Players play in college summer leagues in their region with a couple NBA players sprinkled in.
- Real Highlights (college hoops tonight top 10 plays)
- Player can sign and then you suggest a prep school year
- Team can hold high school camps on campus and invite certain recruits
- Walk-on Try-outs

can't tell me there is no market for a college basketball title

The sales of NCAA Basketball 10 and Choops don't show that market. Die hards like us here would buy it, but college hoops lack the casual draw needed to justify production, especially since it was the NCAA jacking up the license cost. Its why you only see EA with any type of college sports game. They have the pockets to do so. 2k couldn't afford it based on sales of 2k8 when they jacked it up so they didn't renew their deal.. Note that it wasn't an exclusive deal EA made either.

Still doesn't make me not wish they had a college hoop game in development.

Give me the dynasty features of 2k8 and the fastbreak, playbooks and post play of NBA 2K12 and I'll be giddy.

2k barely even ran ads for 2k8 outside of coaches vs cancer broadcasts..

2k's marketing as of now is miles better than 4 years ago..

Good games sell, just have to get the word out!

2K8? You have to go back to 2K2 for the last time Indiana basketball was relevant.

Personally i would have never purchased a college basketball game. Then one day my friend had it at his house. I made fun of him for buying it and themonce I played, I was sold and I've been buying college hoops game ever since. Point is that there needs to be some sort of marketing behind it to get people to play the game. There would never be a better time than now

I agree. Run ads during the regular season broadcasts. Hell market the game half as much as they market others would do the game wonders.

picking a better release time would help as well... 2k8 was released on November 19th, which is entirely too early for college basketball.

They'd be better off with a January/February release date, when conference play is underway and people finally start paying attention to the college game.

Now granted, without the NBA the college game will be in the limelight much more, but generally speaking, no one cares about the first couple months of the college game. It starts picking up during January when conference play gets underway, and then really starts kicking into gear in early February after the Super Bowl. If they want to maximize sales, thats when they should be releasing/marketing the game.

This would be better than NBA 2K 12

Steve I could have given you better photos to use for this...

I'm not really into college hoops anymore (or such video games) but when I saw the "teaser" on OS's homepage I just said "WOW!".

That's how you bring in new users. Way to go OS, well played.

Other than MVP Baseball 2005, college basketball games were my favorite!!! 2K or even EA, please bring a college hoops game back again!

1992 Duke v. Kentucky – "The Shot"

Um, no. No, no, no, no, no.

There is only one "The Shot", and that happened May 7, 1989 in Richfield, OH.

No buy for me unless One Shining Moment mode adds http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmrvVQFGFlY .

Man did this mock review make me sad.

There will hopefully be a college hoops mod for 2k12 this year. That is the closes thing we have to a college game. But if we could prove that college hoops can be profitable and that we will buy it. Then I think they would make a 2k13 or 2k14

# 77 Culture Rot @ 11/19/11 03:20 AM
this made me genuinely sad

# 78 cusefan74 @ 11/19/11 07:17 AM
What a game this could be. I still play 2k8 all the time, and have know interest in stopping. So I could only imagine how much I would play a game like this.

2K did not market very well at all.

EA's game was so poor they lost the customers.

I know a lot of people that have never even heard of College Hoops 2K8. It's hard to sell when you don't advertise it.
