Like the NFL 2K series and the MVP Baseball series from EA Sports, the College Hoops series is a defunct series that sports gamers have been missing since the legendary College Hoops 2K8. With all of the improvements to NBA 2K since CH 2K8’s release in 2007, fans can only envision what the team at 2K could do with the series now. What if 2K was releasing College Hoops 2K12? Here’s what the OS review might look like.

Thank you!!!! I'm so sick of people turning things into, "EA monopoly/only if 2K" bashing thread!

I'd pay pretty good money for an Online Legacy and the chance to beat up on ehh and his UCONN Huskies.

Death by backdoor cuts!

2K8 is still awesome to this day. I sure with they would have stuck with college hoops.

oh, my other issue with this, besides it not being real, is the ridiculousness of some of the "one shining moment" monents...

2006 George Mason v. Connecticut – "Start of the Mid-Major"... really? Besides the fact that, as a Uconn fan I can say without a doubt that they were vastly overrated that year and the George Mason upset, while bad, was hardly as monumental as some people made it out to be, the bigger issue is that Choops is calling this moment the "start of the Mid-Major"

really 2k? :P

For shame!

Apparently the good fake developers over in 2k Fantasy Land Studios have forgotten that a little team called Gonzaga began the real rise of the mid Majors 7 years earlier in 1999 when they reached the elite 8 as a 10th seed (and then ironically lost to the eventual champion UConn Huskies) and then continued to dominate the rising mid majors until essentially the present day.

If these high and mighty imaginary developers are trying to claim that 1) George Mason began the rise of the Mid-Majors and 2) That that game is one of the 16 best/most important/influential games in NCAA history, then I laugh at them, because I find those assertions to be quite ridiculous!

It would be really awesome to see what kind of game would be out 4 years later but 2k8 is still amazing and the rosters that Raider and Deepball made are so accurate that it really isn't a big deal to me.
Do those rosters have the uniform glitch?

I would love to have Choops2K back in the fold of games I buy every year... I mean, I would take 2K11's engine and slap Choops on it, generic players and half of the jersey's and still call it a win for me

I agree was disappointed even though I know there is no game this year

agree with alljuicedup about Gonzaga. when you ,mentioned rise of the mid major in the review thats the first team I thought of.
Gonzaga

but great article. Still waiting for the day 2k decides to release another CH2k game.
every year around this time, I think maybe they just might try again, especially now, after the success of the NBA series and the the fact that you have Cable networks outside of ESPN paying for broadcasting rights.
The interest in CB is obviously growing.

Because I thought there was an exclusive license given for football to use NCAA and College Logos etc...that fall under their umbrella, thus they have exclusive rights preventing any other developer from using these college logo's in any sport's game.

So then another developer can make a College Football game?
So what's the hold up, because there is great demand for an alternative?

I'll have to go back and review.

As noted above, if I'm wrong, I'm wrong.
I have no problem with that.

But on the flip side, folks are also tired of posters jumping in a thread and posting their displeasures about what another poster posted, while never submitting anything on the topic in the thread.

So you do you, and I'll do me!!!

Great write up instantly made upsetting considering this series is done.

Man, watchin the 2kSports Classic on TV then noticed a College Hoops 2k12 Review pop up on twitter. I almost jumped up and threw my laptop on the ground. I didn't notice the "mock" in the title at first and figured it'd be a perfect time for a CH2k announcement.
Damn, why'd you have to go and get my hopes up like that?!

# 55 Elgin2311 @ 11/18/11 06:35 PM
For me all.they would need to do is build the framework with all the modes and features and leave the rosters blank for the community to do so there cant ve an issue with player likeness

# 56 elementz09 @ 11/18/11 06:35 PM
I hope somebody emails this to 2K Sports.

# 57 statum71 @ 11/18/11 06:59 PM
Nice little make-believe write up. Only one thing.....

If it were so it would probably be Vern Lundquist instead of Jim Nantz, since he's signed on with EA now.

Then again, I met Vern in an airport years ago and he told me himself that he'd never do video games again, just too much work. So far he's held to that.

Oh man this is such a tease. I really wish someone would bring back college basketball. I'm still hoping someday it will happen, but quite honestly my money is on EA as the one to do it. 2K seems "financially set" in their projects, and last I heard they did not want to shell out the cost for the NCAA license.

Meanwhile, EA is bringing back their basketball program, has vast resources in comparison to 2K, and already maintains the NCAA license. They also have the newer of the two games, so they would just have to go back in 2010 and give it a good update/overhaul.

Sure 2K had the better product despite being older, but neither game was perfect, and I thought 2010 was a bit harshly critiqued. EA's game was also the only sports game thus far (AFAIK) to include two unique presentation sets and commentary teams. That by far impressed me the most. I wish the other NCAA team would follow that precedent...

So my guess is someone (likely EA) brings back college hoops by 2014.

# 59 shadia147 @ 11/18/11 07:22 PM
Only two Kentucky Squads??? And both on the losing end?
You mean to tell me that the single most dominant sports program in the game only gets two spots?

We need College Hoops 2K12! When I saw Assembly Hall and the headline, thought maybe they had decided to develop the game because of the NBA lockout. So, game developers if you are lurking, I too would pay double for a college game. Miss it terribly.
