NBA 2K12 patch 1.03 is available now for 360. Please post your impressions here.

PS3 users have already had the patch for a few days and have posted impressions right here.

Here are the official patch notes:

GAMEPLAY
  • On-dribbler steal success rates have been tuned down.
  • Tuned accuracy of directional passing in order to more reliably pass to the intended target.
  • Improved help defense, specifically for rotations on pick-and-roll situations.
  • Defensive tuning on 3PT shots to reduce the success of contested threes.
  • Addressed an issue on drives to the basket where the help defender wouldn’t fully engage in the double team
ONLINE
  • Several matchmaking optimizations have been made in order to help users get into games quicker. This will reduce the amount of time the “Searching For Opponent…” screen is displayed for.
  • Addressed a number of network errors that would cause games to end prematurely.
  • Addressed an issue in Team-Up where certain conditions would lead to a player standing idle for prolonged periods of time.
  • Corrected a Win/Loss streak tracking issue such that the “Back to Back to Back” achievement/trophy will now unlock at the proper time.

My thoughts exactly. The majority of my complaints are from the online experience. Sliders help alleviate, and sometimes eliminate, my offline gripes and concerns. The only offline gripe I really have that's not fixable at this point is the slow, floaty passes. Online, however, you are at the mercy of programming and animations with no alternatives to correct them. That's why some, like myself, are unhappy with the game in its current state.

Tweak passing speed/accuracy(or reduce defender reaction speed to passes), and add more reach in fouls are really my biggest complaints pre/post patch. Right now passers need to pivot,gather, before passing (which is realistic)giving defense an advantage. Right now, the defenders can just react to passes no matter what direction they are facing without going thru the pivot, gather which makes things very tough on passers. If defenders were subject to the same laws as passers, the speed of the passing would be ok in it's present form. Intercepting passes in real life is more about anticipation than just reaction but in 2k12 it's based on reaction. IRL anticipating too early or too late should get you in trouble or out of position but right now we can simply react and not really be punished.
Lol I know you're team sim Ninja. That post was more for the people who keep saying we have to just live with the game being the way it is...and I know they have to try to make a game that appeals to "everybody" but there are other ways to go than the route they took. In a few months I think all of this will be irrelevant anyway (Fingers crossed).

I hope the make patch that indecates if the (human) players is playing "on-ball" defense or if it's the computer. One of the real reasons why most of my friends stop playing is for that reason. Also, does the computer have to be a unstoppable force behind the 3 point ark?

Has the patch been released in the UK for ps3 (anyone?)

I wasn't asked to download anything.. In fact I haven't downloaded any updates for the game that I know of.

In the ps3 menu I can go into game data utility, look at NBA 2k12 additional data and see version 1.03. But, this was apparently created on the 15th of Oct (5 mins after my initial install) and I am certain I have not downloaded anything.

Does anyone know a 100% certain way to check I have the latest patch or how to force a download for it?

3pt shooting has improved on my end... billups went 2/6 at the 3 point line, even missed a dead open one... JR smith didnt get back on defense fast enough so that seemed pretty realistic

slashing to the basket looks like it improved alot more too... I've been getting great back door cut looks without bad defenders having superman like awareness and catching my man

i personally like the patch and im currently playing at superstar/sim, i always tweak the fouls to keep the realistic attempt balance for me and the cpu

but other than that it ran smoothly.. spurs against thunder... they beat me by 106 to 102... I shot 48%, 12 TO's they shot 47% 11 TO's... seemed like a pretty realistic feel to the game

Passing still is slow and unresponsive. Getting extremely fed up with it to the point where I won't even play it.

For seem reason the CPU has less killer instinct for me. Maybe it was because they were spamming 3s before but they seem to score alot less.

I agree. They are definitely less aggressive after this patch.

Non-gameplay impression, has to do with settings; the coach settings(Manual subs/timeouts) don't get saved anymore? I also have to load my roster file manually now. Before patch it loaded automatically on start up

This. Hopefully the next patch fixes it.

so this patch was supposed to fix the lag/glitch that slowed the game down. If you push turbo on a fast break theres a lag at mid court. But if you walk the ball up court its fine. (I have the game saved to my 360 hdd).

This game is Jekyll and Hyde... One minute I love it Amd it's he best bball ever, next it's a chest feet with the CPU throwing no look full court passes and Kirk hinrich and the pest defender ever to where he's getting 3 block a game!! I don't care what anyone says, this game cheats!! Ive mastered all he moves and played well over 100 games Amd it's always the same story, 1st qrt is close, 2nd and 3rd I'm down by 19-25pts!! Very frustrating!! I'm playing on all star setting wih stamina and fatigue at 47...

Offline what I have noticed:

1.They have cut down the keep the scores close by a tad bit against the CPU. I liked what I saw. The CPU tendency to up and under you for layups was cut down slightly. Maybe they tweaked these tendencies I don't know but I do know I didn't see a lot of it which is welcomed.
2. You are rewarded for playing good D on the perimeter a lot of D shot release grades and it works against you too.
3. The play in the paint is different now there are more layup attempt animations.
4. The last second heroics are cut down by that I mean you play good D for 20 seconds and the CPU manages to hit the crazy shot.
5. Could just be me but after a few games I noticed they were calling more fouls in the paint on obvious calls for me and the CPU.

The saved roster file should be loaded every time. Everyone time I start up now I am looking at the default rosters...really 2k did you really have to change that.
