NBA 2K12 patch 1.03 is available now for 360. Please post your impressions here.

PS3 users have already had the patch for a few days and have posted impressions right here.

Here are the official patch notes:

GAMEPLAY
  • On-dribbler steal success rates have been tuned down.
  • Tuned accuracy of directional passing in order to more reliably pass to the intended target.
  • Improved help defense, specifically for rotations on pick-and-roll situations.
  • Defensive tuning on 3PT shots to reduce the success of contested threes.
  • Addressed an issue on drives to the basket where the help defender wouldn’t fully engage in the double team
ONLINE
  • Several matchmaking optimizations have been made in order to help users get into games quicker. This will reduce the amount of time the “Searching For Opponent…” screen is displayed for.
  • Addressed a number of network errors that would cause games to end prematurely.
  • Addressed an issue in Team-Up where certain conditions would lead to a player standing idle for prolonged periods of time.
  • Corrected a Win/Loss streak tracking issue such that the “Back to Back to Back” achievement/trophy will now unlock at the proper time.

this game is definitely starting to feel more sim than arcade after the patch. not having to worry about people jacking up contested threes or my point getting ripped walking up the court is definitely nice. dunks have also been tone down which helps it play more sim. only thing left is PASSING, REACH-IN fouls and BLOCKS. these blocks are still out of control. i have never seen this many blocked dunks without foul calls in my life.

i don't get it... i don't care how it plays offline, but online, the patch somehow made the game 10x worse... i'm at a loss for words... wow.
dont know what game you are playing...

Played a guy who was the Lakers and he went 0/12 from 3. All i could do was laugh.

Will play more games today to test it.

The lag is gone but the game still is rediculus. What are those guys have done to 2k??? I have Rose and play isolation to Elton Brand and i really tried all the isomotion moves that i know and he was still defending very well!!!!!! Is that possible???? What the F................. Derick Rose is 100 times faster than Elton Brand. And what is that rediculus percentage at the 3pt line from th opposite team. What the hell,im really dissapointed and im playing the 2k series since the first one at Dreamcast(i dont know if you remeber). Anyway the have to do something about these issues cause im very angryyyy!!!!!!

Is it just me or did the PS3 lose its patch. I absolutely hated this game for a while before the patch because it was rewarding people for running around like crazy and jacking up 3s all over the court even like 6 feet back. After the patch the game played infinitely better and I was winning most every game with tactical stratagy but all of a sudden yesterday I lost 5 straight game by the same method. Dudes just jacking up 3s like crazy. I mean every game my opponent shot 25-30 3s lol. The last game I played I looked at my opponents shot chart and the further out the shot was taken the higher percentage of shots they hit wtf lmao. they shot 53% for the game but 60% from the 3. obviously the game on the ps3 has reverted back to the original gameplay and sadly that is just trash.

Ok....after multiple games online post patch. I've notice 3 things....

1) Finding a match is corrected! It takes literally 5 seconds to find a match. Excellent work.

2) Contested 3's have been toned way down. Please not that I said contested 3's...open 3's still drop (as they should). Excellent work.

3) Steal spam is still in full effect. I've noticed no difference in this area. Guys just run around mashing the steal button and have pretty good success. This needs further corrected.

So....2 of 3 aint bad. I'm just hoping the steal spam and the slow passing (hopefully....my biggest gripe with the game) can get addressed in the next gameplay patch.

For every one with three point problem how about using the sliders?Huh?
They are there for a reason.

Also adjust the guys tendencies its well known 2k messes up on things like that.I cant blame them tho there is a ish load of players in the game.

There will always be lag and there will always be complainers that are never satisfied.

I ONLY play Offline, so here's my thoughts on the patch (I have both 360/PS3 versions)

-The CPU hitting contested shots with the shot clock winding down has been greatly reduced.

-The CPU 3-pt. shooting percentage is now in a more realistic range. Don't get me wrong, if you leave the wrong guy open, he is going to hurt you, but the 3's are no longer layups for the CPU.

-Icon passing does seem faster than pre-patch, which is a good thing.

-Defensive rotations are better; I didn't see any instances of guys leaving the CPU wide, wide open. Sure, there are cases where if the CPU moves the ball correctly and catches my team in a rotation that there will be an open man, but I'm not seeing any of mindless floating that the AI teammates were doing before.

Overall, I think the improvements with this patch helped improve the game.

Do you play My Player? If so, did you have to start a new one to see the desired changes? I STILL haven't turned my Xbox on to see yet...

I hadn't started a MyPlayer on the 360 yet. I have one on the PS3, but only played through 1 game, so was planning on starting over soon.

I'm on 360 and I'm really concerned about the offline frame rate issue. Is this still a big problem post-patch? I have not dl'ed either of the last two patches, and may hold off again if it ruins my single-player experience.

I've noticed a rather irritating problem that was introduced with Patch 1.03.

The last used rosters (custom) are no longer loaded by default when starting NBA2K12. Before the patch, the last saved roster file was used upon loading the game. Now, the default roster is always loaded.

Why was this change made?

I think people complaining about 3 are referring to the game online or myplayer in which you have no sliders............but good try anyways.

3s have definitely been toned down. However, the steals (online at least) are crazy! I played a guy online who ended up with 19 steals because every one of my passes either got intercepted, or I got ripped while not even doing any fancy dribbles. He still only ended up winning by 9 points despite my 22 turnovers.

Just played an OA game with a person.

He kept chucking off-balance 3's that are being made. SWISH!!! I thought 3's are toned down??

OA setting is in HOF and Simulation.

Not sure if you knew but you can quickly hit [pause] then unpause to stop the framerate issue, if you still don't want to download the patch. Post-patch I haven't had it occur at all offline or online

For the last 3 days I havent been able to play a complete game ... not for ranked vs, not for ranked teamup, nor for playing a friend.

"All" games (around 10, really more) suffered from disconnections and all say that "no more players remaining" ... some had lag some not ... I know its not the players logging off or quitting since some where vs friends and most were with tight scores.

It seems that the disconnections due to network error are still there but just with another name ... or maybe the problem mutated into this.

This is a contrast of the great experience I had inmediately after both patchs. Hope it can get looked into and be solve.

BTW, there are way less people playing the game online for the last 2 days ... it migh be related to issues such as the above and maybe i conjuction with MW3 release, it certainly seems that COD takes a huge toll out of every other game.

Ok, I been reading this blog and all im reading is crying, crying, crying!!!!..
Sometimes people should look in the mirror and say am I good at this game yet. Can I really play Defense, can I really play offense and Do I really understand basketball. I mean before the patch yea three’s went in to much contested. Yeah the steals are crazy, yeah the framerate and bugs gets annoying but people this is a computer programmed game so nothing is gonna be perfect!! That’s why your job has an IT department. Cause software programs are gonna do weird things. What about the Pros in the game!!!!..Yall waiting on EA sports when they was going to put out an obvious imcomplete game last year and still cant compete this year. Lets give 2Ksports some credit.

My thoughts on the new 1.03 patch is positive.

1)The contested three’s did go down but you cant get mad if people make open threes.
2) The steals are still a bit out of control but you have to move like real life and use your body to proctect the ball. Also, you should calm down with the turbo button.
3)Defensive help is way better than before. The help defender is not just roaming all over the place for no reason. The game itself has a better feel.

I don’t play online but im going to try it out to experience what everybody is writing about the steal button spammers. I will give an update on that. Also, I don’t mean to offend anyone. Like Czar said, “DON’T PLAY VIDEO GAMES, PLAY BASKETBALL”.

Question...are u guys playing with default sliders and adjusting accordingly after the patch, using previous used sliders, or strictly default or sim sliders?

Sam I understand you big time. But I read a lot of post about people who play offline complaining. I should have said this is for the offline gamers. My fault on that one.

I really cant wait to get home to test out the online world. I mean shouldnt the patch work online cause i dont adjust sliders offline. The reason is if i go to someone house to play them tmost likely they will not have my adjustement and that will obviously affect my play.
