I dunno if this has been brought up in a forum but there seems to be some weirdness with the controls on the PS3. Sometimes when trying to run after getting the ball, my player will either spin or hurdle and it seems to happen if I put too much pressure on the right joystick causing me to press the L3 button. This shouldn't happen. Not to mention sometimes, when on D, my player will switch to another player when doing the same thing. At first I thought it was just the controller I was using but nope. Frustrating cuz plays get jacked up because of this. I think this happened last year, too.

There is also a weird subbing issue that has seemed to returned, usually if I try to sub out a tired running back with my Jets. I sub the player in the same formation I call a play in and somehow, he doesn't sub in/out. Global subs would be nice, too, to add.

Other than that, they need to make the CPU defense much smarter. I play on All Pro and in my last game in my franchise, I kept running virtually the same play action rollout play if not in a row, but in another formation variation of that same exact play and the CPU couldn't eff with it. The best the CPU could come up with was to have my TE, who was RACKING UP yards and TDs as a result of my running the same type play over and over, end up getting his arm broken so he couldn't play anymore. REALLY, EA??? REALLY??? PISSED me off. Non-sense and I could go on and on about legacy issues including one since the PS1 days (CPU calling timeout around the 1 min mark in the 4th).

Bring on the next gen and EA BETTER NOT have ANY excuses for NOT having this game up to snuff after it's second iteration on the next gen consoles.

I hope they can fix the announcing via patch, if not.. I wont be surprised. There were so many things that they could have fixed last year, but just blew it off in the end. So, I wont be shocked if they dont fix it. Maddens have been a disapointment for years. I buy them every year hoping that they get better.. but they just dont.

(And before someone jumps on me and says "just dont buy it, duh!"- I'm not gonna not buy the only pro football game. I love football too much to just give up on madden.)
Would hope no one would jump on you for a opinion.

Anyway, they announced back in June that they have procured Fifa's sound technology, but didn't have time to put it in for 12. So, I'm assuming that it will be implemented in 13. So, as far back as early June, we knew commentary wouldn't be improved from 11.

Commentary needs to be patched period, and it has nothing to do with the excuses EA gives for improvement for next year and blah blah blah, they pretty much have made commentary worst than madden 11, if that's not hard enough to believe, so all I'm asking is they fix what they broke.

While I can agree with some of that effort statement, I actually think it's more about the game's engine. It's antiquated and limited. Ever notice how when EA usually introduces something new in Madden, something else either gets removed or takes a hit? If it's not a feature, it's graphics, font size or something. It's all about memory and coding allowed by it. It's like EA has to re-arrange things and do a bit of trickery within the engine if they want to accommodate whatever else new they want to do to the game.Disc space can factor in, too.

Eh, whatever case, I think it's a wrap for this gen when it comes to Madden. I still believe they can push the game with Blu-ray disc size but that won't happen because one side of the gaming war wouldn't be too happy with that...

Agreed. Having the players look like their real life counterparts goes a long way in how the game looks and feels for me. I hate having to live with a wrong face mask or helmet type so my LB doesn't lose his pass rusher or future star role. I want that fixed, and the super LBs, and I want the game to remember what formation I was in instead of me having to scroll the page and finding what I wanted to run again.

Doesn't make sense to me.
Nah, I disagree with effort. The developers work long hours, so, it's not a effort issue. Plus, for 13 and on, they are doubling the game play team for both football games. That has to be good news for games.

I think it has do deal more with the suits and marketing vs the developers. To me, EA has multiple layers and the more layers a company has, the more red tape to sift through.

2K is a smaller company and can get things done at a quicker pace and they don't need to jump through as many hoops as EA has to.

That's my take.

A company with millions of dollars of resources, and a huge staff should be able to destroy anything a small company can put together. I just hope that EA's contract with the NFL runs out soon. The lack of competition has obviously made EA a bit lazy. If there was a NFL 2K12 game out there right now, EA would definitely have made a better game. Who knows, they might have even produced a better game than than 2K, since 2K literally put the NBA Live franchise out of business- it could be payback. lol
I hear you, but there are pros and cons to working at a smaller company vs a bigger company.

A smaller company you don't need to run decisions up the flagpole and wait 2 weeks for an answer. A bigger company needs to take it over to marketing, run it around up to the suits, and maybe a decision will be made in a few weeks.

There is much more political red tape to hurdle in a larger company vs a smaller company.

I think EA simply doesn't try because they have no competition. Pride seems to motivate 2K and the bottom line seems to motivate EA. Look at the attention to detail in a 2K game. The fans are even active and moving, responding to whats going on in the game and everyone is doing something different. EA cuts and paste's 4 guys and spreads them all over the stadium. In 2K the sidelines are even active responding to the game situation. EA they look like cut outs from Madden '94. The commentary in the two games are day and night and well documented.
Now these things don't affect gameplay, but when this type of attention is shown in little things then you know they take gameplay seriously and vice versa. EA to this point can't even get the little things right and it seems like they just don't care.
Acquiring the NFL license just told me instead of working harder to produce a better game, we'll just kill the competition.
They still haven't even put mouthpieces in the players equipment.

Speed up the menus. Seriously.

A lot of my gripes about the game would be lessened if the menus didn't have such significant delay everytime you change screens or go into a player to edit him or anything. I think I could even deal with UDFAs in franchise if the menus didn't make everything take 3x longer than it should.

Have not read the entire thread so probably in the minority here.

I'm all for fixing PS3 freezing issues, commentary and wierd sound bugs as well as the strange weather patterns that the virtual NFL seems to be experiencing. Graphics/colors in certain stadiums are a must.

PLEEEEEEEEEEEEZE don't mess with gameplay, super linebackers are not an issue for me.
I all ready have Madden 11.

Such an old and overused assessment.

Have you played the almighty MLB 2K series lately?

I haven't even bought Madden yet as I am waiting for the patch. I've followed threads on here and as a hardcore offline franchise guy, I need it to play well.

I did the same with with MLB 2K11 and NBA 2K11 and it worked well and got me to purchase the game. I wish I would have done the same thing with NCAA 12 as I'm not happy with it.

If EA comes through with a good patch I'll buy Madden. It sad because I've owned every Madden since 2003. From 2004-2009 I've purchased it on release day. Now I might not even buy it.

A lot of pressing issues that people have brought up already.
Hopefully custom playbooks is fixed too, and hopefully they include the defensive camera view too.

I doubt the defensive camera view will be included in the patch.

Mike Young already said in a podcast a week ago Thursday that was a huge project by NCAA highly unlikely to be included in a patch.

Cheers for the info. Bummer. Didn't know it was something that apparently requires a huge re-write.

Fingers still crossed for the custom playbook (tho it's just one thing out of many).

No matter what your opinion of MLB2K, What did i say that wasn't true?

Like I've said before, one of the biggest flaws in this game is the player sliders. If you tweek them you will revert the game to a much easier difficulty setting. INT's and CPU QB play take a huge hit when you mess with the player slider sets, and I don't know why. I just hope this is addressed.

Can't figure out yet why so many people still buy Madden...
