NCAA Football 12 News Post

The NCAA Football 12 title update #2 has made it through internal certification and waiting on approval from Sony/Microsoft.

According to EA, the update is hitting a bit later than expected to address a few additional stability issues that will improve the experience.

No other details have been released, but we'll update this topic when it happens.

IMHO, this viewpoint is part of the problem. Not trying to flame you, but the whole "Everybody else just doesnt know any better, they're just a bunch of dumb kids" attitude is what's leading EA to put out a sub-par product...There are people out there that arent active on message boards but can still spot a glitchy game from a mile away....The majority of people playing this aren't "arcade style" players.....again just my opinion...

Well, from reading the publicly available financial and investor information on their website:

http://investor.ea.com/results.cfm

It is clear that the game is selling somewhat better than prior years (although this is of course no indication of quality) and part of the reason for this is because due to fear of an NFL lockout EA decided to "double down" on its marketing efforts for NCAA. This is all in the documents for Q1 of their fiscal 2012 if any of you actually bother to speand 10 minutes reading.

That explains why they paid for a 4 hour infomercial on ESPN and the huge number of commercials for NCAA you saw this year. More marketing is going to result in more sales in most instances.

Either way, again, none of this is any indication of the product's quality especially when games cannot be returned to most retailers.

I would probably estimate that sales for NCAA 13 are likely to be down from this year as NFL labor peace is likely to mean that EA will not do such a large media blitz for NCAA next year. Coupled with the disappointing effort for 12, of course.

Not disappointed in 12 at all yet, have really only had a couple of bugs crop up (I had to attempt a 2 point conversion from my own 30 yard line), and am looking forward to starting an online dynasty with 3 people who are about to buy their first NCAA title ever in a couple of weeks. This is the most fun I've had in NCAA since 05 when it first hooked me.

Sorry, but it is true that unless you are digging through forums many reported problems will never affect you or ever go noticed. This community is simply a very vocal minority.

I have no interest in predicting the success of NCAA 13 without knowing its features and based on 8 weeks of NCAA 12 sales.

I'm as frustrated as everyone that the patch isn't out... I pretty much only play online dynasty, so its hurt me as much as anyone with games not counting (fortunately I haven't had a dynasty I couldn't advance yet).

That said, I'll buy the game again next year (and I've never said i wouldn't). Even in its buggy state I've still gotten more playing time out of this game than I do most other $60 video games.

Yes I wish EA would get there act together, and as I've stated (and others have as well), they will "try" to do so but as long as they are selling well they aren't going to make any outrageous efforts (like firing Haumiller, re-organizing the development, etc).

And there are enough people like me that are not willing to deny themselves a college football game (regardless of how buggy it is) to try to send the message to EA, that those sales figures won't drop enough to make a difference.

I'm not giving EA a pass, far from it, but the only thing we can do to make them change is stop buying the game... and I, personally, am not willing to do that.

That's not true at all, I'm playing an OD with a handful of guys in their mid 30's who would not be caught dead on these forums and what do they complain about?

freezes, failures to upload, screwed up tendencies in recruiting, physic DB's and jumpin' linebackers. Sound familiar?

It doesn't take a forum to see these issues.

Both our accounts are anecdotal though. I've yet to have the game freeze on me, doesn't mean nobody's game is freezing. You're playing with people who are complaining, doesn't mean everyone is.

so at this point of the day is the patch a no go for ps3 users???

Now there is a 'prophecy' that it is coming out tommorrow. I get off work at 2 AM, if I can make it the extra hour I'll be sure to be up to see that day pass with no patch. Then see all the 'EA LIED TO US' even though all the dates being thrown out are by random people that are just making guesses.

If people are frustrated about EA, the only real things to do are stop buying the game, which is constantly reinforced here... or actually complain somewhere where it might really put some kind of pressure on EA. Complaining here isn't going to do anything (no offense to the owners of OperationSports).

Drop by Kotaku.com or Joystiq.com and drop a tip about how the game is so poorly supported. Maybe if they get enough in the way of tips they'll do some reporting on it and put some heat on EA. EA is huge on image. Enough bad publicity and they'll actually put some better effort into quality control.

Both sites have tip links.

Absolutely true, which kind of proves my point. There are a bunch of different people out there with a bunch of different opinions.

Did you even bother reading any of the posts in this thread?

Answer: No one knows. EA has submitted it to Sony and Microsoft, it's in their hands now.

I just checked on Ea's official forum and the debate is raging hot over there as well. There mod's are dropping an iron fist and in one thread alone a whole column of posts was mysteriously "hidden by moderator". That is what they do when a poster says something they don't approve of or agree with LOL. They don't have any more info than we do here though.

As much stuff this patch supposed to cover they need to change it name to blanket instead of patch

Yeah, not much of a patch job, more of a repair/rebuild. Just won the Nat'l championship game on RTG with a pretty awesome play with a minute or so left. And then the game freezes in all the post-game crap. Go figure. I don't need to see my slow motion replays and worthless pictures, EA. I played the game. If I want to see them again, I'll go to the "Manage Highlights" menu. I just think there's way too much fancy "presentation" in this game that I'm sure doesn't matter to most of the people who play. Will it attract people who don't normally play the game? Probably. But EA is deserting the "usual" players. You can argue that Black Ops did the same thing to the COD community, but that's another story.

Ben Haumiller needs to lose his job.

This is ridiculous.

After all the TV specials, all the pimping, etc etc they put out a glitchy freeze prone product then take over 2 months to patch it and disappear from view.

The fact that we go to the Wishlsit thread and for dynasty most of the stuff we want back in was in the old gen versions of the game is a hilariously bad sign of what this dev team has failed to do.

Not a big fan of most the discussion or arguing on this thread. Everyone earns their money (assuming you are not under 18 years old, and if so maybe ask your guardian for their opinion), therefore they are entitled to spend their money as they wish. If some of you don't want to purchase it at all next year, great! Send EA a message! Thats what this country is all about! No matter what impact it may or may not have you are free to do so. And maybe some people at EA arent all about the money but take pride in the quality of their work and put forth an innovative product every year. For those of you that are going to buy it day one, hour one; good for you too. It is a fun game, you probably do love football, and you probably dont think that, even if you did want to send EA a message, your single voice would matter. For those of you like myself, I'll probably end up purchasing the game, but not for at least a week after it releases to see what the feedback is from it. Either way, who really cares? Annoying to see arguing on how people should spend their money.

you clearly misread my post. I stated that those of us on here NOT buying the game again wont be enough to do any real damage.

That is unless the lurkers on here do the same as well.

# 518 sfc415 @ 09/06/11 07:09 PM
People are still going to buy it next year. Even with the stuff people on here say is messed up I think all the bigwigs care is "record numbers sold." Even more will buy next year
