Oddly enough, Gopher...I just noticed this feature too, just the other night. For the heck of it, I was checking out the controller functions screen when I spotted the "last player back", option. Not sure myself...but yeah, I think it may be new for this year.

I'm kind of embarrassed to admit it but...I only use half the controller options available, as is. But I think this is a nice little addition to the game.

After last night, I think I'm more or less done with the demo (aside from playing some goalie maybe). I'm never a fan of default settings to begin with, and those greyed out sliders are really starting to tick me off!

I'll be picking up my copy on the morning of the 13th. And spent some time getting use to things.

Because that night...my son is having 3 to 4 of his friends, and myself over to his house for an..."NHL night"! I have a blast playing, but I sure find out just how bad I sux at the game, playing with a bunch of "20 somethings"

Fun times.

The demo is pretty good. However the gameplay feels the same as last years. Which is fine since NHL 11 was one of the best sports games I ever played. However, paying 60 dollars for updated rosters does not seem worth it. I might just stick with 11 and find updated rosters to dl.

Thank you very much, RealmK. That's a wonderful thing to say.

All of our three children are grown now, so the time I get to spend with them is so very important to me...and my wife of 31 years.

When they moved out on their own, I was scared to death they might forget about how much I still need them. But even with their busy lives, and families of their own...they come to see us more often than I dared to dream.

And with the periodic, "NHL nights"...I can't wipe the smile off my face.

But no sports games. The closest was Mario Super strikers. :-(
Good to hear Ceteris, that you and your family are enjoying video gaming together.

At times, gaming gets a bad name. And I'm pretty sure in some circumstances it can be deserved. But when video gaming brings families together...that's a very good thing. Whatever it takes, imo.

Hey Ceteris....maybe NHL is the sports game to bring your wife and daughter into sports gaming.

Sounds like a good way to kickoff the release of NHL 12, Tom. Enjoy it and make those young guys earn every goal.

Yep Dan...it's the best way possible.

I do my best to make them earn their goals....all of them! And that's a lot to earn. Dang, them guys are good.

That's awesome Vikes. I love hearing how you get together with your older kids for some gaming.
My kids are still pretty young (8 and 5). But they're getting into video games a lot.
My 8-year-old is finally starting to like some of the sports games.
He's played NHL12, NHL2K11 and a few baseball games with me too. It's great.

Time has been going so fast. I can't believe my oldest is 8. Those 8-years flew by.
I know the next 8 will be even faster. It's kind of sad.
But hopefully we can do fun things together like your "NHL night". That would be awesome.

Warning Warning.... TIME DOES FLY BY... enjoy every minute you can with them. I wish someone had warned me. Just sent my oldest off to college seems like yesterday I was changing his diapers. I have an extra xbox so I'm going to see if we can get him online and get a few games in AFTER school work is done of course.

I'm not joking when I say that after playing for a few minutes, I had to quit the game and actually make sure I didn't start the NHL 11 demo by mistake.

The big "NHL 12" and Steven Stamkos dominating the main screen at the beginning didn't tip you off?

I've been noticing the last few days that maybe the player models were touched up a bit.

Their bodies don't seem to be as squared off as before.

Did they patch the demo? I haven't played the demo in awhile. I'm patiently waiting for the full game.

The backskating speed of defensemen is waaaayy too fast. If I'm in the neutral zone right beside a backwards skating Dennis Seidenberg, with Michael Grabner I should be off to the races.
