MLB Bobblehead Pros News Post

Back at E3, I previewed MLB Bobblehead Pros and pretty much could not say enough nice things about it. Konami's Power Pros baseball franchise is beloved for all the right reasons, and this $10 XBLA arcade game seems to be just another way for more people to experience the franchise.

Many folks may have missed out on the series because it has mostly been known for being released on Nintendo platforms this generation, but it's a simulation baseball series that is hidden under a cartoon-like graphical facade. While this version is not quite as in-depth as some of the earlier retail versions of the game, it seems like there is still local co-op online, an edit player feature (although it seems to be locked when you first play the game), full 162-game season and create-a-team elements as well.

Some members here at Operation Sports have already picked up the title and have some nice things to say about it:

There is a demo for folks to try, and it appears more content will be coming to the game later in the summer. Some of the content coming at a later date includes a home run derby, as well as My Bobble mode, which seems like it will be some sort of career mode where you control one single player for a whole season. I doubt it will be as in depth as "The Life" mode found in other Power Pros games, but it would still be a welcomed addition regardless.

Lastly, while the Xbox Live Arcade version is the only one out right now, it seems like a PS3 version will be coming at a later date.

I checked today and its still just the All-Star break DLC.

Maybe the new DLC will hit tomorrow? Wishful thinking.

In other news, thank you, Houston Astros, for your Cracker Jack ballpark with its 320 foot outfield! I was able to hit a couple home runs with some of my scrubs in my first series against Houston.

This game is just too good. All baseball fans should own it at $10.

Also, props to Atlanta and Ted Turner for their big sign in left field that simply says, "MACARONI!"

Anyone else finding that the CPU almost never swings at the first pitch?

I have all the CPU sliders on Legend difficulty, but they still take the first pitch 95% of the time.

It just makes the pitching too easy when you're basically given a free strike to start each at-bat.

I'm also finding that after about 40 games of season mode, all my starters' stamina ratings are juiced up to the point that they can throw complete games without breaking a sweat.

I haven't made a call to the bullpen in ages. Kind of lame that stamina progresses so quickly compared to all the other attributes.

I've noticed this too. It happens but like you said 95% of the time they take.

In other news I turned my first triple play since MVP Baseball yesterday.

I think DLC only comes out Tues-Thurs?

Someone that's a little familiar with it might be able to tell us more.

Nothing new posted on Xbox.com

I think the last DLC for this game went up on a Wednesday?

Are we currently guessing that the PS3 version of this will come out in their PSN update tomorrow?

I'm holding onto hope every week.

This is actually my first live arcade game, long time fan of the Power Pros games though. I was wondering, is there any way to edit the save data of arcade game saves? Specifically, would it be possible to make and share roster updates?

Online is pretty laggy, and most people will quit on you as soon as you get ahead of them.

But it can be fun if you stick private matches with friends.

I really would like this Battle Bonus DLC to come out soon so we can get that player edit feature. Haven't really played the game much, because its hard to play with jacked up rosters after the trade deadline.

No DLC today.

I've been checking xbox.com pretty much every Tuesday/Wednesday to see if anything new pops up.
