I know it's probably been said, but I find it funny that he believes TCU shut down Wisconsin's running game in that Rose Bowl. they didn't shut them down. Wisconsin got away from it after TCU made some early down stops and that did them in.
Ok here's my question. If they take away the skinny post and the flats, besides running how can u beat the Cover 2 sink? U can run a drag but that's minimal yardage. It's going to get weird.
there are ways to beat the zone. easiest thing is to flood the zone. if they play it right, there are soft spots of a cover 2 in the middle of the field typically just inside the seams. digs, fades, and floods. fade will only work if you can put some touch on the ball in the game, though.
I agree, I noticed guys sliding all over the place like they were on ice. Also, I think guys are strafing and backpedaling WAY too fast. That is a huge problem that Madden and NCAA have been plagued with. WR will be sprinting down the field and the DB's will be easily keeping up with them in a backpedal.
Usually DB's only backpedal for 5-7 yards and rarely do they strafe so much like in NCAA. I don't know if the devs have any body on their team that has played defense, much less real football, and has had to study game film intensely. But if they did, they would realize these kinds of things.
Thank you, at least someone has said it. Look the game is looking great but the way the coverage looks is awful and probably the most unrealistic aspect of the game. What disappoints me is that wev been bringing this to their attention for a few years now and things havent been addressed which makes me believe its engine related. The AI seems smart which is a good thing but the way the defenders get into position is just awful and people will complain about the defense making way too many unrealistic plays. No way can anyone back pedal at the same speed as a WR.
Everything else looks good though...

Well you can't really say they went away from it. They ran the ball 46 times for 226 yards. If you take away Ball and Clay's biggest run (40yds and 30yds) they only got 156 yards on 44 carries. That is a nice 3.5ypc which is not bad, which they finished 12th in the nation in rushing yards per game.
They ran the ball 44.9 times per game last year, and ran it 46 in the Rose Bowl? Regardless he is wrong in the fact that they completely shut them down. They only got about 20 yards less than they averaged for the season.

They only scored 19 points, right? That seems like shutting them down. Yards don't mean much. Sure when you only give up 100, that is considered shutting them down as well, but I also think you can forget about yards and look mainly at points and see who shut who down, or didn't.
Its cool seeing auto-motion on defense. I wonder if we will be able to control when they actually motion. That would add a whole new dynamic to playing defense. I've looked at the vid a couple of times and I figure its auto-motion and not show blitz. Maybe not, but I hope so.
From the looks of the past vid's they have made great improvements in the defense game. I just hope they don't make it to tough to beat. I just hate playing in my Online Dynasty and not being able to stop the damn skinny posts or TE cross routes. Now hopefully I can mix up the pass D and make the guys actually earn ther wins. Hopefully this means that the game will actually take some skill and strategy to win games now rather than just run the same 4-5 plays over and over again. The other big thing they need to fix now is the PA pass system.
I like what I see. The interceptions was Harris deciding where the ball was going before the play. The hook route was open underneath. They must slow down the strafe. That was insane unless that's a new running motions.
Hell...just the simple move of having the nickel back and safety cover the inside skinny post will make a huge difference in both defending the pass to the TEs and Slot WRs..AND improve pass rush because QBs won't be able to throw a pass without looking to an always wide open man in the middle.
That reaction to the first play in the video looked very weak to me. Looks like the db was reacting to the user's qb button press rather than the flight of the ball. If you slow that portion of the video down you can see that the db left his zone and broke on the halfback before the ball was even released. Is clairvoyance now a db attribute? Zone looks better than ncaa11 but that was no difficult task imo.
Only bad things that I would want to be fixed that I saw were the fast sliding by TCU (the DB) he was sliding as fast as the receiver was running. If they added some "touch" to the passing it would be nice. Such as, a tap would be a floater, mainly used on a deep balls and fades, and holding all the way to release is a bullet and holding half way through the throwing motion would be for the middle passes, over the LB but in front of the DBs. Just an idea.
Would be nice to see the wide receiver break and fight for the ball as well instead of running away to blindly continue his route even as the ball is in the air. Would be nice to see a wide receiver occasionally stumble trying to turn around and recover to catch the ball.
