No. He's winning because he's currently the best runningback in the NFL

Whoa whoa, pause pause.

What about Arian Foster, Jamaal Charles, Michael Turner, Chris Johnson, Maurice Jones-Drew, Adrian Peterson, Rashard Mendenhall, Steven Johnson, Ahmad Bradshaw, and Ray Rice?

Couldn't of said it better myself. Hillis is not even top 15. Especially after one year.

Who?

Come on man, only person on that list even remotely in the same tier as Hillis would be Ahmad Bradshaw

You disregarded the entire reason why Peyton Hillis is a great player: He played with no passing game.

No matter. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who claimed that Hillis was elite, just to offset the misinformed that said he was pedestrian.

I don't remember all this uproar when VY was on the cover and that guy is the definition of average.

Vince Young was well known to the average person. Peyton Hillis isn't.

To the average person? I don't feel like he was... Wasn't he on the cover after half a breakout year? If you asked a random civilian "who is this" I bet they would not have been able to tell you. Average football fan knew VY though, and they should know Hillis.

Well to be fair, didn't he start the season splitting carries with Harrison? I believe he had single digit carries at least the first 2 games. Plus as the other guy mentioned teams were able to focus solely on stopping him, as well as Cleveland playing from behind often. I don't feel the guy is elite at this point but those numbers don't tell the whole story

I agree with Hillis being exceptional. No way he is pedestrian. And a lack of a significant pass game is a factor that boosts his perception. And I would take him over bum Jacobs every time.

The Browns team passing between Wallace, Delhomme and McCoy yielded:

3142 yards, not too bad. but still at the bottom.
62.2 completion percentage average between them...not bad.
The 12 TD to 18 INT ratio needs work.

2010 Browns were 20th in rushing led by Hillis and 28th in passing
2009 Browns were 8th in rushing led by Harrison and 32nd in passing (2,000 yrds total for the year).

The no passing game may actually not hold up after all.

Sorry but Hillis had one good year last year on a crap team.

Not saying he can't be a good player for a while but to me Madden usually puts a player of relevance or that his high appeal

Hillis is not known by the casual gamer. And in terms of marketing is a dumb idea but Madden will sell because Madden is a very popular game.

You could put the 12th man flag for the Seahawks and it will sell.
So, if the game is still going to sell, why do you say it's a dumb marketing idea. Hillis popularity will soar if he wins.

Still, there is no proof that a cover athlete sells the cover, it's what is inside the cover that sells the game.

Things change and people resist change.

Honestly, Peyton Hillis being in the running for the cover seem like a prank to me.
If people wanted to see them on the cover, wouldn't they have voted for them though?

Hillis went head-to-head against Aaron Rodgers and crushed him 61% to 39%

For him to make it this far shows that the "nobody knows who he is" notion is likely false.

Two words, Brett Favre.

He wasn't on till 2yrs before he retired, EA's 20th season.

Well, EA controlled the actual player pool and their seeding, I think Peyton Hillis is going to win because he had a good year and he's not a guy most non browns fans like or dislike. Versus some of the other players who talent wise should be on the cover but are not favorites of the fans.

That, or there are a lot of folks in Cleveland, OH who have (1) an internet connection and (2) a fair amount of time on their hands.
