I just wanted to mention that Sandoval is one of the faster big guys out there. In fact, he has a small guy swagger to him for such a big guy that there's almost a sense of irony to his style of play. He might not have the quickest feet, but he can pick it up from first to third pretty well.

Throw Bengie Molina in this conversation and you have yourself a fair example.

I just remembered that a pitchers MPH is measured as soon as it leaves the hand. According to the book "The physics of baseball" a ball loses speed at the rate of about 1 mph every 7 feet.

That being the case if someone clocked Beltre with a gun in that image he probably threw it at 75mph with the ending speed around 53mph. That's a hell of a throw! I'd say it's possible but not likely, and the accuracy would have to be off, especially considering the wind.

75 mph is full blown fastball for me (at my old age)

# 603 Raskal @ 02/25/11 08:03 PM
I'd say it's possible, especially for Beltre who has a cannon. I'd say it's a problem if it was always accurate which we can't say from one example.

They don't call Third Baseman, "Magicians" for nothing.

Just figured out that I HAD to choose either contact or power to be succesful at the plate! :P Feel dumb...but I have been getting some good hits now due to hit. Kinsler is awesome in this game which is weird due to how much he is an all or nothing swinger. Hvaing a blast and really, the demo takes away from what the retail will ultimately deliver.

Not necessarily, but it DOES make a difference pending on how far ahead or behind you are in the count.

It's a GREAT addition this year and it REALLY makes you "think" during your at-bats, because you get your choice...love it!

I came across a familiar glitch today. I hit a two-run bomb with Nelson Cruz but was only credited with one run, one rbi and Beltre stayed on first.

Hopefully this won't make it into the retail version.

I remember that EXACT glitch in MLB '09, but SCEA fixed it for '10 ... wonder why it's even there?

Has anyone mentioned the dirt effects on the infield? You'll see footprints, slide marks etc. Then every 3 innings they get cleaned up by the grounds crew. Almost positive this wasn't in '10.

Seams to me there is more jaggies in this years game ... yes I have tried 720p and 1080p but opposed to last years game which I feel has less jaggies. Like the facemask on the catcher, nike swoosh on cleats and the B and K after each pitch look worse to me. Any one else feel that way? Is the demo going to be the same as the final release?

I just had a 15 pitch ab with CJ Wilson against Lincecum. I fouled off 10 straight pitches with a 3-2 count, then lined a single past a diving Freddy Sanchez. By far the best at-bat in any game I've ever played.

Cool story, long at bats that result in hits are one of the most satisfying things about this game. One problem though... C.J Wilson doesn't have any career hits so it can't be true. Just kidding.

It's kinda funny you say that about Wilson. I seem to get at least one hit with him every game I play.

sorry if this has been asked. But how do i try and pick people off when pitching from "pitchers view"? Im using pure analog btw.

# 615 nmycon @ 02/25/11 11:48 PM

Same old Show......which is an excellent thing! Tried the analog hitting and pitching for a bit and don't like it. Never liked it in 2K either. I'm happy with the good old meter system and button hitting.

Also seems like they toned down the hits which should make for good stats throughout the year.

Had a walkoff HR with Sandoval to win the game 1-0 in 6 innings.

Have a great story just from the demo. One thing MLB does better than all other sport games is giving you great stories lol.

I was the giants losing 1-0 in the bottom of the 4th. So 2 out with Tejada up to bat. He hits a single straight up the middle. Sandoval comes up i swing at the first pitch and miss. I end up working the count to 2-2. Using contact swing i was fouling a lot of balls off. I know Lincecum was up next and really did not want Sandoval to walk. WELL Wilson the SA hits me with a pitch.

Sandoval on 1st and Tejada on 2nd. Lincecum up to bat. I knew this wouldn't end well and i always have the habit of getting it going when the pitcher is up to bat lol. Lincecum goes up 2-1. Wilson throws a FB up high. I swing make perfect contact and it drives Tejada in. They ended up bringing in a sidearm pitcher and i can not hit sidearm pitchers. Really need to work on that.

I ended up losing the game cause they were able to bring in a pinch hitter. He 1st ball swung and drove in the guy on 2nd base. Was frustrating to lose that way. That game was on All Star with everything analog. It felt good to be competitive with those settings and its only been two days so with some more practice i should start winning games.

Same as every year.

I'm an ace on the mound but can't hit a ball if my life depended on it.

I just played a demo game, lost in the bottom of the 5th.

I struck out 16 times .... I had 3 baserunners - all from Posey dropping the ball behind the plate.

I only grounded out once (double play), the rest were strike-outs.

As far as me on the mound? I had 9 strikeouts and gave up 1 hit (all-star) .. the only reason I lost was because I'm not used the analog throwing buttons. I had a routine grounder, went to throw to first and threw it home.. right over the catchers head. Struck out the next guy. 3rd guy gets a single and wins the game.
