I love seeing the plays on MyPlayer; before, I was just the craziest screen setting Center in the league, and now I can run plays and break them if I see an opening.
Two things I have noticed that I'm disappointed with:
1. Players still foul out and don't get subbed. Just stay in the game as if it were fouls 1 - 5.
2. Tipped up rebounds count as boards whether you secure them or not, and the same goes for the CPU players. So my rebounding numbers are inflated - particularly on the offensive end - because I got a hand on the ball and it popped up yet another player corralled it. In turn, I'm getting grade deductions when an opponent getting credit for a touch that I then secured.
This patch CHANGED the players running style (running without ball in hand) and I HATE it becuz now my SG Myplayer and all the other players run like Centers and that really sucks....hopefully they fix this.
What exactly do you mean when you say the running style has changed?..and is this change only in My player ...
why is that if I'm in the lane with my defender beat no one is in front of me...I don't dunk the damn ball My player just go for some sorry *** floater...the defender is beat no one is around me my vertical and dunk is a 99 I should dunk the ball unless there is contact which it wasn't...
and why didnt they fix the computer missing wide open shots in myplayer mode...kevin garnett can hit fade aways from damn near the 3 point line and my teammate lebron james cant hit a sorry wide open 10 footer ?
So from reports of people here they finally fixed custom music, with the extra downtime for the pc patch would be nice if they could patch it for the pc version.
I'm liking the improvements to the gameplay especially the perimeter D and realistic verticals. I'll admit this is a bit nitpicky but has anyone noticed in sims the crazy amt of free throws? This might have been happening before the patch and maybe even was mentioned before but I never noticed til now.
I just got to the playoffs in my association and a simmed Bulls/Heat game produced a really close game so I was happy to see the home court advantage has indeed been toned down but D. Rose attempted 17 free throws and Boozer 23. 40 between the two players and the team shot 65 total. That's insane. I looked around the other games and saw similar though not as outlandish numbers. Typically each team shot 40-50 FTs a game. Realistically avgs are around 25. Again, not that serious but caught my eye.
What I don't understand is you people saying our myplayers shouldn't be scoring points?
Excuse me? A 7 foot person that's faster than kobe with higher shooting skills than kobe shouldn't be putting up more points than kobe? (replace kobe with durant, or any of the others.)
If you don't play myplayer, or you don't try to win at myplayer, then you have no business talking trash to other people who do. That's just ridiculous. Out of the NUMEROUS (50+) friends I have from myplayer on xbox live, every single person thinks that the auto-calling of plays is stupid that has gotten on today (31 so far), I've gotten more messages from people about how they can't believe that having the highest PER, TSP, PPS aren't helping them on having more catches with the auto plays being called.
Sorry if you think that it's unrealistic, but that's kind of the point of a game. Don't tell me to go play another game because I can still accomplish the same stuff, it's just stupid to force work-arounds on people that aren't really needed.
Oh, and I've been top 100 in ranked online games since 2k8, but this game really appeals more to the MYPLAYER mode to me, if sudden changes like this for "realism" sake are to be expected in the future (auto calling plays, even if you're the pointguard) I see no reason to buy any further products, I doubt next years game can change much from this years; just like I felt ripped off buying 2k10 when I already had 2k9.
Just follow the damn play to score or ask your team to trade you. You can't force the same s*** in this game post patch. 2k is trying to be a BASKETBALL SIM and has succeeded so I really hope they don't listen to this kind of complaint.

If you're gonna pass on the rest of this year and or next year, then good riddance! I don't want to play with or against people like you who live in fantasy land believing there would EVER exist a 7 footer who's faster and shoots better than Kobe! The point of the game is to have fun yes but the REASON it even exists is to SIMULATE REAL LIFE! What you and your idiotic ADD-addled friends envision as basketball nirvana is absolute poison to any rational, well adjusted basketball fan!
Go Sim or Go Home! If you can't learn to play the game the way it was meant to be played and excel at it, then do us all a favor and play NBA Jam to your hearts content! Leave the online matches to true competitors!
the new patch sucks for online...why are my players sagging off automitically...and i cannot hit an open jumpshot to save my life..it is so annoying can they please fix that problem asap cause it is very unrealistic.
Online is worse than it was before. I was all for fixing long court passes and dunkfests, but now defense is too easy for users that aren't good. Everyone lets the CPU play their D for them and it's way too effective. People say the sliders were too geared towards offense pre-patch, but I constantly kept the other team under 45% from the field with smothering user defense.
Though long passes are toned down, overall passes are easier and I keep seeing too many balls that should be defelected get through with ease.
I'm sure I'll adjust, but so far not enjoying online play. My Player improvements are great though.

Uhm, to this post and the post above it, according to the ratings of Lebron James (6'8") I'm just slightly faster than him and the rest is the same offensively, he still blows me out of the water defensively. 4" make that big of a difference overall?
How about you realize the difference between REAL LIFE and A VIDEO GAME, because that's what you're failing to rationalize here.
"Just run the play and don't force it." Who says I'm forcing anything? Shooting above 65% is not forcing. If you don't play MYPLAYER and you're weighting in on the myplayer issues than you're clearly out of line.
Once again, to you "realists", here's the situation at hand as per example of REAL NBA PLAY BY PLAY to explain it.
Let's say John Wall's rookie year and he's playing the SIXTH MAN (instead) for the wizards. He gets subbed in, runs out on the court, and ARENAS calls for an ISO play. Wall doesn't hear the call and just sits where he's at, no motion at all. In response to Wall not entering the spot he's supposed to, Arenas just dribbles the ball in place until the shot clock reaches 5 seconds, then takes the most insane shot you've ever seen.
Make sense? No? That's what you're saying is legit. Prior to this patch if a play broke down immediately the positions went to their default locations on the court, and you could set up your own play. You could force motion by entering another players spot and "free style" your play. This is no longer an option, and as someone who has been top 100 in ONLINE RANKED GAMES for over 3 games now I enjoyed creating my own plays, running them as they went, and doing very well that way. You're encouraging limiting offense by forcing these plays to take place.
Oh, but I'm sure you all watch basketball on TV just for the defensive end of the game, the offense is never exciting or interesting to see how it unfolds. You want "real life" basketball then get 9 friends and go ball, don't play a video game. What do you expect to happen to players who get to spend skill points after every game (82 games in a season, 12 game minimum post season) and having capped points. You expect them to continue to be rookies forever? The point of MYPLAYER is to eventually be able to run the game how you want, not to sit on the sidelines and pretend that you don't have amazing MJ like abilities.
I'd think being top 50 on online ranked games in 2k8+9, top 75 in 2k10 would qualify me as someone who "has played sim games" enough. You obviously have no interest in the myplayer section of the game as a simplayer and to completely crap on a whole group of players is POISON to a franchise. Good luck getting patches on the next game when 20-40% of the player-base loses interest because the most exciting part of it was changed so drastically that it made it unplayable for them, and telling people to go play another game definitely doesn't help the growth of the game that you love so much. I'd say grow up to that TBH.

You do have a valid concern about the point guard dribbling until the last 5 seconds, I'll give you that. But I am not sure why you said that it is harder to win now since It is easier for me to win in my player (I think because it suits my play style more). And I still don't have any problem in offense because I do think that I will not be able to go 50 pts a night although I did have one night with me having 50 pts pre patch but my average pts per game is still the same post patch. You just cant do that since its not realistic and 2k11 is a BASKETBALL SIM.
And it is more easy to ask for the ball post patch especially when a play is broken so freestyle the s*** out of that. The game is trying to simulate REAL LIFE NBA and it did a better job at that post patch. Basketball is 2 way, DEFENSE is NOT optional and the highlight reels are still there but you cannot force it anymore as much. Yes this is a video game A SIMULATION video game.
"The point of MYPLAYER is to eventually be able to run the game how you want, not to sit on the sidelines and pretend that you don't have amazing MJ like abilities."
Yes eventually..... but if you have a 99 rating you MAY have an argument but it does not mean you should touch the ball 100% of the time in each possession.
On ps3 I downloaded the patch, the game ran with sound, then quit and deleted my player progression file as well as the rest of the game files to start over... I boot up the game and now i have no sound. Has this happened to anyone else?
Well...so far my only issue is the super missing by my player. 98 Mid range and im missing sooo many shots, but w/e i'll get used to it i guess. The play calling thing is also annoying...wish i could freestyle like before , but seeing the plays is awesome.I was stuck at the playoffs before due to the freeze problem so im happy i can finally finish this season even if my player starts shooting all bricks/

I'm sorry, but I had to literally LOL at this comment.
I haven't touched My Player mode since the patch, but what exactly is the problem that people are complaining about? The fact that plays aren't ran for them? I thought basketball was a team game?
What exactly do you mean when you say the running style has changed?..and is this change only in My player ...
No not just My player, this pertains to the whole game...Like before the update each position (PG,SG,SF,PF/C)had a SIGNATURE running style when moving around without the ball...but now since the update ALL PLAYERS ALL POSITIONS when moving around WITHOUT the ball run style is defaulted to the PF/C running style.

My SF is 92 overall, will be capped before the playoffs coming up. I can still call for the ball and put it in the hole without question. What's harder about it is the fact that I feel bad, basically icing out my team-mates who without hesitation pass me the ball for me to put away.
Not being able to run the offense means that I'm the ONLY one scoring instead of the one the offense is running through. It would be like the magic not using Howard to in and out the ball.
Earlier, I was just shooting funny (trying to drive too hard I suppose). I've noticed my jump shot is far more likely to go in (post patch, shooting over 90% with mid range compared to ~55%) and actually hit my new game high of 78 points through jumpers (at 91%fg in 5min quarters). That's just unfair to my "AI team-mates" and not how I want to run anything.
NO restriction can stop players from becoming ridiculous within the first season just based on the ways that SP is distributed in this game (on my PG I got 16k in one rivalry game by turning the quarters up to 8 minutes and hitting quite a few milestones) and that was a 4 point over-all jump. From a single game. There's 82(!) games in the regular season. You have to understand that it's silly at best to restrict people who are able to score at will from having fun with it instead of just forcing them to have a "i'll just do it myself then" attitude.
And before anyone says they break the play and do whatever they need to, I'm not having that experience at all. As a matter of fact, when I catch the ball and break the play the only person who goes into motion is the PF who stands by the rack to grab a rebound; the rest just sit in place and the PG gets that little "A" over his head (wanting me to pass it back). Sucks.
I mean, prior to this patch, I could draw a double team after starting motion that would lead to a FG, or at least an attempted one, and I felt good about involving everyone. Now, if I want to score well, or stand out as a player in my player (and trust me, that's the only reason I'm playing my player) I'm forced to ice out my team-mates. That's just dumb, flat out.
To be honest i don't even know what you mean by that. What i do wish is for us to be able to break the plays like we used to before the update. Love the play calls but sometimes i just want to do what I want to do....which is to drop so many shots the other teams coach cries.
