Madden NFL 11 News Post

First off, we have been aware of a roster de-sync issue that resulted in more disconnects during some online games - primarily affecting Online Franchise and Madden Ultimate Team games. Rest assured we have a fix slated for this upcoming title update, and more details are explained below.

Ultimate Team ‘Rivals Pack'
The biggest delivery for this update is a set of features built around Madden Ultimate Team, and this signifies a few months of development work as we couldn't squeeze these features in by the ship date. The "Rivals Pack" delivers three new features for Ultimate Team, allowing you to make new rivals in Tournaments, face off against old rivals in Play vs. Friends, and renew some rivalries with Refer a Friend.

New Feature #1: Tournaments
You guys have asked for Tournaments in Ultimate Team for a while now, and we're happy to say that they will be available in the next title update. Here are some details about this brand new feature:
1. Each tournament has entrance criteria which can range from specific players to minimum team skill or chemistry.
2. Once you enter the tournament, you'll be matched up against another tournament player and battle it out. The owner who wins the game will move on to the next round while the loser has to start the tournament over.
3. You win coins every time you advance and if you advance to the last round and win, you'll earn even more coins and you might even win a rare player.
4. Tournaments, like Collections, are dynamic and new tournaments can (and will) be added throughout the season.
5. We're also planning on having special promotional tournaments where we release an insert for the weekend and those that find that insert can enter a special tournament.

New Feature #2: Play With Friends
Another feature the community has asked for is the ability to play against your friends in Ultimate Team, and that will finally be available in Title Update #4. You can challenge your friends anytime they are online and play a game of MUT.

New Feature #3: Refer a Friend
One of our favorite new features is Refer a Friend. If you have buddies that play Madden, but they haven't joined Ultimate Team, you can earn coins for getting them to join up. A brand new screen has been added that allows you to keep track of your invites and your rewards from the friends that have accepted the referral.

Uniform Updates

Here's a list of uniform updates that will be rolled out when Title Update #4 releases:
• Added alternate tops for the 3 Vikings jerseys featuring the 50th anniversary patch being worn this season.
• Added the current Redskins Home and Away uniforms. In addition the socks issues are fixed.
• Added the current Chargers powder blue uniform.
• Added a uniform top for the Saints including the Super Bowl Champions patch as seen in their home opener.

Content Updates
Here's a list of some of the other changes we've made to Madden NFL 11 that will be rolled out when Title Update #4 releases:
• Fixed a couple of random Madden Moments stability issues.
• Fixed the user's ability to view play art manually if the opponent on defense holds LT/L2 pre-snap.
• Fixed an exploit where the user could audible when coming out in the Bronco Heavy formation with a HB or WR at QB.
• Fixed an exploit where after pressing the square/X button on defense a user is able to hold down on the L-stick which allows the defender to release off the LOS and go after the QB as soon as the ball is hiked.
• Fixed a hanging issue with onside kicks in Madden Moments Live and offline Madden Moments.
• Fixed an issue causing a high percentage of disconnects in Online Franchise, Madden Ultimate Team, and other online head-to-head games

Well, that's it for the update on Title Update #4. Expect it to arrive at the end of this month or the first week of November with all the features and improvements you see listed above. If you have any questions or comments feel free to hop over to the EA Forums to discuss.

This...is...absolutely...GREAT NEWS!!! Thank God they are not messing with gameplay. I finally have a slider set that works wonders on this game and really don't feel like tweaking anymore.

I already knew they were not messing with franchise mode. I am expecting big things for 12 on this however.

but for now, game is pretty good.

and for uni junkies, uniforms do get dirty, just not as much as you probably would like. I think it is a little on the timid side myself, but do see dirty uniforms.

Please.....please fix gameplanning....

****ING EH....no fix for these LAME QB intros before every single game? Oh man, I can see my franchise won't be played much longer. EA...come'on man! I thought they said they was listening to us? I've never once and never will play online, or play madden moments or ultimate team. Give the true fans what they want, and it is a simple easy thing to fix these intros before the game. It makes the game so stale feeling. After the game starts, it feels great, but those intros KILL me.

Wasn't gameplanning working before the first patch?? I might just have to delete all the patches and see if that works. What a waste of time with all of those patches.

Does it cost money to play ultimate team??

No its free, but it takes longer to build up your team if you don't spend money. Its fun on it own without spending money.
Its sort of like a online franchise with fantasy draft and more depth.
You see more balanced teams than in normal Online mode, and you have to use more strategy to win.

Yes, setting up gameplanning for the CPU was working before the last patch and now it does not work.

That's not the problem with dirty unis, the problem is that it doesnt work all the time. I'm not sure where EA's head is at on which modes we want added or fixed and with that said who gives a crap about ultimate team tournaments, FAIL! Madden 11 = trade in value for COD Black Ops.

You have got to be kidding me, right? "Great news?" This must be your first dance with Madden.

I think it was stated most articulately in another convo, but it is blatantly obvious for some time that the money EA spent on the exclusive license is sapping from the development resources. Instead, they sprinkle a few bucks on cheap gimmicks and call them new features or fixes. I have and continue to believe that "Gameflow" was the biggest hustle of the last six years, because it is nothing more than "Ask Madden" only customizable and automatic.

Back to NBA 2K11....

This was a HUGE disapointment!

No QB intro fix! This just kills madden for me. It realy destroys all form of illusion and replayability this game has.

Also, NO gameplay fixes?????

Please GOD, bring back NFL 2K so we get developers who cares about simulating the NFL.

Been playing Madden since you were in diapers!!!

It is great news for me, gameplay wise, because my sliders are perfect for my style of play. Great defensive battles. Any sort of tweaks would absolutely ruin the current set of sliders I have.

Now, when looking @ a distance, some will say "big deal, just tweak your sliders again".

I say NO. If you are going to tweak sliders correctly, it takes a lot of time to get what you want. I have put hours upon hours tweaking them, and refuse to do it again. Also, I have a full time job and a family, so time just isn't on my side any more. Hence, for me personally, yes this is great news. I am finally having a blast with this game and would like to continue that for a few more months.

I do agree on some aspects though...gameplannig is whack. I have yet to use it, and judging from the OS feed back, that is great. Game intros SHOULD have been patched, but I still have an A button.

And as for the dirty unis, I play as the Rams, in the dome, so dirty unis don't become a huge issue for me. I did see them in the Superbowl in New York, in the snow though.

It does work....if you want a gameplan for the CPU only it does work. But you have to do the workaround.

At controller select and settings (pre game) move the controller to the cpu team then select the gameplans you want for them on OFF and DEF. Do not move the controller back to your team. Just press X and go into the game. After the coin toss but before the kickoff move the controller back to your team. You don;t get to play as your team for the opening kickoff.

If you call all your own plays and use your teams default playbook you don't need a gameplan for your team.

That is the only way to keep the CPU playing a great game with your custom gameplans.

It works. I did the one play test so It works.

Does it suck that the #1 highly touted feature of the game is broken? Yes. And how they did not address it is beyond words. But at least it works for the real reason I use it for which is getting ther CPU to call a realisitc game on OFF and DEF.

# 32 radatdude2 @ 10/19/10 03:24 PM
this is unfortunate i was really hoping the defense and game play issues would be addressed.

Yes, I know the workaround. Still should have been fixed.

EA haters are out in full force today!! Save yourself the aggravation and stop buying Madden! Do not even come to the Madden forum! It's always the same people on these boards complaining, and saying they will never buy Madden again! Well, that is until Madden 12 comes out!

why can't you just take 10 seconds and tweak slider for this issue?

Why would this need a patch when you can solve those issues yourself

# 37 CreatineKasey @ 10/19/10 04:02 PM
I'm pretty bummed to read this. I was hoping for more agility/awareness to be implemented on defense. I don't know if I can stomach any more 5 yard passes fired into cover 2 zone where my linebacker gets trucked for 3 more yards after contact... by a 160 lb WR.

naw he was playing the CPU on All Madden.....that's what he said

So it would make sense for him to take 10 seconds to tweak a slider on All- Madden to stop this issue he's complaining about instead of requesting a patch because he's spending time on All-Madden level where that type of stuff is known to happen all the time.

But then again you have guys that feel everything should be perfect for them and if not they start complaining even about things they can simply fix themselves but they are too lazy
