I think it was Magic VS Nuggets. There were a lot more poor animations and stuff than in the Heat VS Suns

I love 2k and all...and I already pre-ordered it...but c'mon guys...

OVERHEAD PASSES >_< ENOUGH!! I don't even care if they release the same game next year as virtually a roster update with some presentation tweaks...

ENOUGH OVERHEAD PASSES. Nobody plays basketball like that. :/

Overhead passes are a valuable tool that many NBA players use to their advantage.

Ask Kevin Love.

Unfortunately No I haven't seen a single one.

Yes the game runs at 60 fps but if you capture a 60 fps game at 30 or encode a 60 FPS game at 30 its just not going to be as smooth or look as good as the real thing.

Its impressive how much more responsive the controls are in 11 vs 10.

JF in some early feedback session we talked extensively about the necessity of the defense to retreat in the appropriate angles. To me it makes a world of difference when the cpu defense is not causing contact in unrealistic angles.

What is also opens up is if you can force the d to turn their shoulder to beat you to that spot... You can then pullup... If you really like basketball there are so many tiny improvements like that that just take the enjoyment of the title to another level. IMO of course.

@ Da_Czar

Did you in any instance feel any suction on the perimeter when you were the ballhandler? In 2k10, there were several instances where the CPU would be connected to you like glue making it impossible to get past them sometimes. This is was my biggest pet peeve with 2k10.

Thanks

Not a lot. Don't forget they have that fifa styled ability to break out of perimeter contact. I can see that getting overlooked and guys just watching it play out instead of being active.

there Are a couple of angles however that if you attack the defense you can be sucked in to initiate the fifa stuff. Immediately after you can break out or spin off of course.

That is an extreme nitpick however because it didn't happen with great regularity and if you compare it too all the sucktion that happens in 2k10 without the ability to break out of it then its not worth mentioning.

I am also very surprised no one has mentioned that the cpu doesn't face guard the offensive players anymore... They defend at a realistic distance which also helps to eliminate some of that unnecessary contact were so used to.

So you eliminate the unrealistic defensive speed and the unrealistic defensive pressure ( being too close to the offensive player) then you program the defense to retreat to the proper angles and beat the man to the spot and it really really opens up the halfcourt game. Especially if you force the defense to help even on All-star there is no magic recovery. You have to give up something to get something.

Is this OS ? How in the world is no one talking about how the cpu controlled Heat had lebron dominating the basketball ?

Has another game ever done that ? He was actually running a big part of the offense as the SF.

Last year they would bring the ball up a few times then pass it to the pg to run the offense....

Sounds great Czar, thanks for the response!

Hey Czar some of those long outlet passes are bugging me do you see that a lot against the CPU?

It was strange to see Lebron throw that pass to Miller. Not saying he couldn't do it but that seemed like a pass that should have been picked off. Saw another example of it with Drexler catching a rebound and throwing it full court in the other vid.

Reminded of last year how the CPU would abuse my AI controlled teammates cuz they knew none of them would pick it off lol!

In a way, I mentioned it but didn't mention what was happening in 2K10. Hehe

- Lebron is ball hogging and gets fouled everytime he decides to attack the rim and not settle for jumpshots. He does get awarded for foul calls and free throws in real life.

Yes you do see that from the cpu AI. At least I did from the build I played. I'm not sure how to qualify how often it happens but some of them do get picked off especially if the passer has low pass ratings ( my observation from a limited play time.. however that is how is was designed)

So they do try it. In the build I played it wasn't an every possession thing but they will test you. Like I depending ( I think) on the passer and his pass ratings and how open the offensive player is some get through and some get picked. I haven't seen a play where i was like NO FN WAY...LOL but again once we get the game and just sit down to play that may give us more of an indication of wether it a real problem.

Hey Czar, I don't see anyone else mentioning this and it's really not a big deal, but are the dancing girls going to sit courtside during gameplay like the past 2Ks and like real life? The demo vids are showing them running to and from the tunnel when there are timeouts. I want to know if the final retail will be like that.

Right now they are slipping into their sprinting animation with too much dexterity. I'd also like to see that dribble be higher on lesser skilled big men. Bosh is above average in agility and skill for a big man, but you can still see him looking at the ball a bit if he has to start a break after a rebound. Fixing this will balance out the factors of bringing a guard to help, trapping when a big man puts the ball on the floor far away from the basket and trying to sneak in a break when a big rebounds with no pressure around him.

This will also separate highly skilled tall ball handlers like Odom, Durant or Anthony Randolph who can take the ball off the glass and initiate the break with reliable consistency.

Small thing--pump fake animations seem a bit behind compared to the updates of the last few years. That lackadaisical raising of the ball over the head isn't fooling anyone

Looks great otherwise though. Saw some wonderful things. Really like the new substitution graphic. Hope to hear more new commentary, but that's often not something we get until the release version, so grain of salt.

I'd like to piggyback off of this with a question

Does the CPU ever slow down the game to control the pace?

If they're up do they always rush it up the court like what we see here?

Thats one thing I think this game is missing that might even help it feel even better if not.

If it doesnt, this should be considered in a patch from the beginning
