NCAA Football 11 News Post

NCAA Football 11 will be available in stores tomorrow, July 13th, and a patch will be available at the same time. Based on feedback from the community on the Demo, and internal testing, we have addressed several issues after the game was sent to Microsoft and Sony. The following changes were made for the July 13th patch:
  • Fixed an exploit where the QB could walk through the defense when the ball is snapped, with a guaranteed a gain of over 50 yards.
  • Tuned QB fumbling on scrambles, resolving an issue where the QB would fumble every time if hit past the line of scrimmage.
  • Improved deep zone coverage assignments, making it significantly more difficult to be beaten by the deep ball. In particular, deep zones have been improved against Streak routes.
  • Tuned QB throwing out of a sack. Previously, it was too easy for a QB to throw the ball while being tackled; this has been toned down to be more accurate.
  • Resolved an error with pursuit angles, which resulted in defenders over pursuing the ball carrier every play. The angle was fixed to be slightly more aggressive, creating a more accurate pursuit.
  • Tuned the read and react assignment for linebackers, especially outside linebackers, before the handoff. This will make it more difficult to run the ball outside the Tackles.
  • Fixed an issue with the CPU ball carrier being stuck in a forward lean animation. Also lowered the frequency of CPU ball carriers leaning.
  • Resolved an issue where AI players in man coverage assignment would swerve when covering particular vertical routes, causing them to be beat repeatedly.
  • Ball carriers will no longer go into a tightrope assignment when running along the sideline. This was causing the player's speed to decrease to 70%.
  • Resolved an issue that was causing tackles to not matchup in online games, potentially causing a crash in online games.
  • Footsliding will no longer occur when the ball carrier has the ball in their left hand.
  • Tuned CPU screen passes so they will get rid of the ball faster, resulting in less sacks.
  • Resolved a crash that occurred if connection is lost before entering a game mode.

Good stuff. Thanks for the post.

Jeez, they're really trying to make this game hard. I remember when they listed changes to the retails from the demo. Things like better pass rush, better man coverage, better deep zone coverage. Now they're adding even better deep zone coverage, reducing overpursuits, made LB's defend the run better, and the CPU uses screen passes better. Do they want every game to be a defensive struggle?

I'm confused, will the QB play action glitch be fixed by tomorrow or not. I did not see that mentioned in this list.

No... They want what a lot of people want.... To have Football knowledge matter more than just dropping back and hitting a button or picking whatever D play and it working vs a play it shouldn't work against. The more the game gets to where playcalling and strategy matter...the better.

Yeswit was posted as a change from the demo to the retail ... the stuff they posted today is about what the retail version is like if you stay offline and don't download the patch

I was shocked that I didn't see this mentioned. This is a game breaking bug.

Fowler, this glitch has been seen in the retail copies, so it wasn't completely fixed for the release.

Watch the 2nd video here:
This is from a retail copy

I wouldn't be too worried about it. This is something that just came to light and I'm sure it will be addressed in a timely manner.

Jeesh...No it's not. Hit A to break out of the glitch. Annoying..yes. game breaking? Not really. Just treat it as a busted play until the fix is made.

"Game Breaking" is way overused...

I wouldn't go that far, according to some people that have the game, it's only certain plays that the issue, not every PA pass.

for example, I-Form - Y-Trips PA Boot Screen(the boot screen seems to be the main trouble maker with this issue), is one that has the issue. plus you can get out of the animation by pressing a button.

The CPU can't hit "A" to break out of it.

Are there any confirmed cases of this happening to the CPU? Maybe the bug exists only for the user?

There were a bunch of posts as I was editing my 1st post so here goes.

Here is the glitch happening to the CPU.

See video #2.

I agree that it will be annoying BUT... it seems to be sporadic at best which doesn't = a Game Breaking bug IMO. If it happend every possession then yeah.

Only 1 post saying it has happened to CPU so it's VERY sporadic...

Just feel the whole "Gamebreaking" comment is waaay overused. If this is game breaking the over 90% of the games I've ever played were broken..

To me broken = Unplayable or a glitch so widely occuring it is worthless to keep playing until a fix.

LOL at all the fun in this thread.

It is a new play in NCAA 2011, that appears to have an animation glitch.

A few known solutions:

1. Don't call the play till the play is fixed via a patch

2. Call the play and quickly hit a button to get out of the animation

3. Don't buy the game because of it being a "game breaker" (so full of fail it's not funny)

Honestly folks you have those three choices. There isn't anymore or any less out there. Make your decisions yourself but please don't start with the EA bashing, please spare us the time of sifting through your posts.

Also like stated, this doesn't happen on all playaction pass plays, just the new one.

Pretty sure this already out. I had to download a patch when I put it in.

And so you get to the CPU as fast as you can and sack him. Consider it a busted play.... which is what I'll do.
It happens so rarely it seems that it's really a non issue (Let alone a gamebreaker) and can be overlooked until a fix is in.
