Ok, quick question because Im holding off from the Demo until the game comes out...
Does Ohio State's Helmets actually Shimmer and Shine?
In year's past, they are just bland grey helmets and it annoyed the crap out of me. I have seen the screenshots of all these up close photos and the helmets are shiny, but pre-snap when your playing do the helmets shine? When your looking overhead do they?

Just played it last night. I have not played the last 2 versions of NCAA and have to say I REALLY enjoyed this demo. Gameplay, animations, and atmosphere are all excellent. Celebrations seem to be lacking, but overall this seems like a great game. This will probably be my football game of choice this year.

EA did a great job with the band music during the games. I am glad they got rid of all the generic fight songs and made it almost exclusively drum beats during the game. It really gets you feeling like you're at a college game.
Played the demo not expecting much considering just last year I thought it was horrible, but I was pleasantly surprised. Looks good, moves good, and plays pretty good.
Taking into account that madden 11 looks exactly like 10, which isn't good, I think this will be the football game to play this year.

One problem I still have with the running game is Counter out of the gun. The O-Line does not even account for the backside DE against most fronts and he disrupts the play almost every time. This would not be a problem if they gave the QB a read option and he had the ability to pull the ball, but the other problem with that is that the counter play on the game is run on the same side as the RB (in other words, the QB has his back to the backside DE so he is not in a position to make a read on that DE).

Based on this demo, the game still isn't worth the money spent on the game. Problems from last year, and the years before, still rear their ugly heads from time to time. My main gripe has to be with the lack of branching "tackle" animations and the lack defensive authority. Defenders do this gymnastic tumble when a ball carrier is in an animation with another defender which can and does lead to unnecessary big plays. Coming from playing APF and Backbreaker, its disheartening to see DeMarco Murray have 5 Longhorns, who are in position to at least impede his forward progress, fall at his feet instead of affecting the play in some way. This should have been addressed during the development cycle.
What it seems like is that EA favors offense over defense because their play is atrocious in terms of realism. Professor X still coaches the DBs in man and defenders run to receivers in zone instead of just playing the zone making the QB find the hole. Defensive ends do not set the edge and DTs don't collapse the middle of the line.
What the demo does right is presentation. Locomotion works as advertised in the open field and you can actually break way from defenders if moves are set up correctly to make the defender hesitate. Blocking makes cutback lanes which spring backs into the open field. Overall, this is a better game than NCAA 10 but not by any huge leaps.
