"BACKBREAKER™ is a new, revolutionary football experience that takes you straight onto the field. Breakthrough euphoria tackles, non-canned animation, and stunning on-field graphics make BACKBREAKER™ the first truly live football game."
sorry if this has been mentioned but i dunno about going through all 46 pages =P Whats the deal with focus mode? What are the drawbacks/bonuses. Am I just supposed to pull LT every time I drop back to pass? Im kinda impressed, I wish the camera wouldn't like swing all the way around for example if you're trying to run to the outside. You should still be able to keep your head upfield, you never just blindly run around in real football, I learned that when I was 8.
You don't have to pass with focus mode on every pass, but it does greatly improve your accuracy. The downsides are that since the view your looking at is smaller than when not using focus you risk getting blindsided and it makes it more difficult to evade/see the rush.
I agree the camera on outside runs could be better, I have still had some success on outside runs as I got used to the running, but the camera could defiantly be better on them.
does focus put the game in slow motion at all? how about at positions other than QB?
I don't think it puts the the game on slow motion. For other positions, I think using it while controlling the RB makes him look where the closest defender is (not sure on that one though) and on defense it tracks/focuses on where the ball is and pulls the camera back slightly to give you a better view. I recommend using it often on defense to help follow the ball.
Well, we'll see. Like I said in another thread, when the Blitz developers were here trying to garner support for their game, people here wanted to change it into something it wasn't intended to be. "It needs to have 11vs11 or it's gonna fail miserably". "Needs full customization". Etc. The first one was successful mainly because the people that brought the game weren't looking for a traditional game. The BB devs have said repeatedly they were trying to do something new; the traditional route is a path pretty well worn. Again I'd love to have additional options. But as the devs themselves have stated (dev diary #1 & #3) - changing the view changes what they were shooting to accomplish. This is their first attempt at a football game w/o the benefit of user feedback - overall I think they did a great job, considering. I say at least allow them the opportunity to adjust instead of immediately burying the game
I don't think NM should've changed the default angle at all. What they have now should be the default. But the problem is not having options. Without giving users options with something like this, you're just asking for trouble.
I think the press is probably going to bury the game, then the gamers who can't get the past the view are going to slam the tombstone into the ground. See, with Blitz it was marketed as an over-the-top Mature audience product. Midway really had a strong marketing angle with their game, plus an established well-known legend to back it (Lawrence Taylor). It also helped that the game was marketed a lot better, and already had a strong installed fan base from previous Blitz games. BB just doesn't have any of those things going for them.
In real life you have peripheral vision, you have the ability to turn your head, you also have an innate feel for what is going on around you. You can not convey these things with the camera setting. This camera is nothing like real life. No more than "God View" at least.
Limit it online, or make it so both have to have the same settings. To say it's a disadvantage in multi player is a weak cop out.
Played for a while again today. Still love some stuff like graphics, kicking, especially PR and KR- I like how you have to go to the ball. It adds a touch of unpredictability. I missed a chip shot FG because I didn't pay close enough attention. And, of course, I like the various tackles.
Still not crazy about the camera view. This may be enough to keep me away from the full version. I'm trying to get used to it, but I didn't like "first person" in 2k and this "third person over the shoulder" reminds me of that. No thanks.
Oh- not crazy about being able to throw really far without planting my back foot. You could throw short that way, but it bothers me every time I see it go deep. Nit picky? Yup, but that's my impressoin.
On the other hand, I am an artist and when I see people's uniform/logo creations, I'll probably give in, make a bunch and then never use them. I'm a sucker like that.
One more day of playing and then I'll wait for the full game impressions...
LOL wow! I have only hit 27,353 thus far. The key though is agressive mode, am I right?
i didn't do one aggressive move at all actually. I just celebrated more sometimes in between tackles just for a bit and made sure to dive in for every TD (style). That and actually juked or spun every guy but maybe 1. in wave 3 or 4 i kind of zig-zagged to get the first 2 tacklers.
it's funny watching your character celebrate immediately before he even starts running.
Wave 5 I did luck out a bit getting in the endzone though - i got 25k for that wave alone.

Wave 5 is tough for me. I have yet to get past it. I can't imagine 100 waves...Tackle Alley is so addictive I could see myself playing it for hours.
Actually, I already do that in the demo so
Has anyone figured out the following:
* How do you show-boat/celebrate?
* How do you jump (swat pass or go for an INT)?
* Is there any way to get off the line faster when playing on the DL?

Hold A to showboat.
You can't jump, players do it automatically when you get into position.
Not sure about the DL thing, but I don't think there is a faster way of doing it.
You can use focus to view the nearest defender (so there goes your no turning your head problem) & you can see players coming towards you from the side. I've evaded or attempted to evade many defenders from the side. So what your saying is actually more so a cop out to use the God View really. But again, I just think people are use to the typical camera view...yeah it's awkward at 1st but like anything new & different you get use to it.
It's not even close to replicating it. I am sorry there's no way this cam is more "sim" or realistic than any other. You just can't replicate the things I brought up with that type of cam on a 2d medium. You simply can't.

That is like saying the behind the car cam in racing games is exactly the same as the in car cockpit cam since neither are realistic. If that was the case Left Tackles would not get paid as much as they do compared to other lineman in a predominantly right handed quarterback league.
It is called the blindside for a reason since you are unable to see the hit coming. I don't understand the persistent complaining when it is obvious the reasoning behind the camera. The 3rd person cam is without question much more "realistic" than the over the top cam by leaps and bounds. If neither of them are realistic as you say then why not argue just as vehemently for over the top cameras in all games including GTA, Medal of Honer, Splinter Cell.
Your dislike I can surely guess is not over realism but of ease of use. If the camera is too difficult for you to use then don't play the game. I think the camera is fine (not perfect) and does a great job at attempting to simulate the feel of being on the field with limited vision as it would be. No different than a game company coming out with a racing game and only allowing you cockpit cam. Would you be so vehemently against that as well. It's been done before and been very successful.

I disagree that the closer, on the field view isn't more realistic. Though not perfect. This type of camera in true 3D would be amazing though!
I don't know about you guys, but I'm kind of eager to see what some of these teams look like with NFL names/unis. I really think creating the NFL could kick this game up a notch.
I really really hope there's a reasonable way for us to share roster files. There's no way I'm putting in the legwork to recreate the NFL for myself.
It'd be AWESOME to have an "OS Standard NFL BB Roster" that we all can agree upon using when playing eachother online...
I don't hate the camera, on defense its the closes I've felt to being back on a field ever in a video game. However on offense the mass of the player your controlling is always in the way. I hope they can find a solution to this problem without sacrificing the camera angle. Possibly putting the cam just slight
^^ possibly putting the cam just slightly back or making the user controlled ball carrier semi-transparent could solve the vision issues on offense. I am finding that its hard to go back to playing madden without feeling like I just stepped back a generation, being that I love madden this was quite a shock to me and im sure ill be back to playing as usual but it put backbreaker in day one purchase territory for me and I am lookin forward to june 1st and the patches to follow!
