"Share the Demo With Friends and Earn Experience Points

May 18, 2010 – The Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 11 demo is now available on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3! The demo invites you to participate in a fully customizable Ryder Cup match that includes three holes on Celtic Manor, the home course of the 2010 Ryder Cup. Share the demo with those on your friends list, via Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network, to earn in-game Experience Points (XP).

Using the console messaging system, you can earn in-game XP for each invited friend and additional XP for each invited friend that downloads the demo. The XP can be applied to the full version of Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 11, when it launches on June 8th (North America) and July 2nd (Worldwide) to help boost your golfer’s skill attributes.

In addition to the Ryder Cup feature, the demo will include the ability to play three holes on the all-new Liberty National golf course. As you hit the links, the all-new Shot Focus system allows players to make shot to shot decisions and offers a bit more risk/reward style of play. Shot Focus is used to provide that extra boost to the ball off the tee, increased spin during flight, the accuracy of your shot and most importantly putt previews. Once your Shot Focus has been depleted you will lose the advantage of those shot enhancements until it recharges.

The Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 11 demo will also introduce True Aim – a new feature that brings a more authentic style of play and immersion onto the golf course. Traditional aiming methods have been replaced with yardage markers showing carry distance, and distance to targets. It’s up to you to select the right club and execute your shot. Just like in real life, once the ball leaves the club face it’s on its own.

I'm not sure what use you would get with a 1st person true view when you use a joystick. It really would feel kinda goofy. It's made for the Wii because you're actually swinging and I'm sure will be added to the PS3 via patch when the Move debuts.

Hopefully they fixed that goofy AI scoring as that's the only thing that ruins the career mode and online is a mute point as people always find a way to shoot -30 in a round no matter what they add. Golf games are not conducive for online with strangers.

It would be nice to buy the PS3 version now and by the time you get bored with it in a few months then the Move comes out and you feel like you're playing a whole new game.
Well said...could not agree more.

JEM, you are correct. They used it, sort of, in Prostroke.

I'm surprise they have not put out any additional information.

Gee, really?

You made a statement and I gave you an answer. Both TW versions will be out before ProStroke so please do not insist that you will have to wait for first person cameras in ProStroke....

I was sitting here and thinking about somethings people have been saying on the forums about the way TW11 looks. I think they look more like Wii graphics and how the Wii has 20+ courses. maybe we are looking at 20 or so courses out of the box. I was also thinking that it would be impossible to use 10 course DLC on 11's game with the addition of True Aim.
Also one thing in the demo that I don't like and see it happening way too often is getting your focus back by hitting BAD shots. I am going to play TrueAim on tour pro anyways, but for those who don't, I feel this issue can be exploited. Hope EA will fix this with a patch along with the removal of the blue trail in TrueAim.

Love it. Just wish follow cam was available for TrueAim and that TrueAim was mandatory for all Tour Pro online modes.

And I don't like the blue trail either.

A Dev Rep indicated they were looking to try to patch in the ability to turn the blue trail on or off...the patch would obviously come after the game ships as it has already been sent to manufacturing.

The option to turn off the trail is there, it just doesn't work.

# 28 shaunjuan2000 @ 05/20/10 02:38 PM
I think the ball trail option is for the regular view and its white, not blue.

From the demo, I see very little difference in gameplay. I play mostly online with friends across the country so the True Aim feature will not be available. If all Im getting is little touchups and 75% of the same courses as last year than I'll probably pass.

according to the blog, if you choose Tru-aim, it overides the trail and leaves it on automatically . I assume it's because it's hard to judge depth perception as tio how far the ball is traveling without it but I see they are offering an option in a patch possibly to change that. I didn't like seeing it either

Loving the demo. Super excited. True Aim view changes everything about this game. And, for the first time since this generation of consoles is out, I'm getting it on the PS3 as opposed to the 360. For Move purposes. But as a small bonus BEFORE Move comes out, and Divot touched on this already, the PS3 version is much more sensitive than the 360 version. This is due to the analog sticks on the controller, I'm sure, but it made making a perfect swing on the PS3 demo much tougher than the 360 demo.

Can't wait to hear what this OTHER exciting announcement Divot refers to is going to be about

Gotta say I disagree with the "little touchups" comment. However, the following is a post from one of the TW11 Dev Reps on why True Aim is not enabled for MP online play:

The specifics as to why are way to expansive to cover in a forum post but the main reason is back end online technology to support all of the player positioning and camera issues that integrating this into online would have caused. That does even begin to get into the issues that arose with the spectator system. That having been said we certainly understand the desire for it to be an available option within head to head and to that end we ARE looking at the feasibility of patching something like this into the game for Tiger 11. I don't want this post to be perceived as a promise that this is coming for this year as frankly I don't know right this min if we can solve all of the challenges that it presents in a timely fashion. To confirm one point of speculation about True-Aim it will indeed be available in Live Tournaments and events can be and will be set to True-Aim only. I hope this post clears up a few things and while I understand it may not lessen the disappointment hopefully it will at least allow the community to gain some level of understanding as to the challenges that go into some of these features. Thanks again for your continued support and while it may ring hollow with some we are listening and we are doing what we can to make the greatest golf game that has as many of the features and perks that you guys ask for every year.
So they know that users want it and are investigating ways to patch it in if possible. Some very good discussions going on in the EA TW forums...it WILL be available for all other online game play modes.

I am starting to think that the feature I was thinking about did not make it into TW11....but TW12....whoa. That is all I can comment on this, sorry.

I still think it's too early to decide whether to buy or not buy the game. The demo is just that, a demo. Too bad EA hasn't released any other info about the game, outside of what we can see in the demo.
As to Divot's big feature, I'd hate to hear that DLC will not be able to be used in career mode. It stinks being able to only play 1 event at each course. I'd like to see career mode have 25 to 30 events, and not 1 or 2 a month. Either that or make career mode go longer than 5 seasons, before you have to start over.
I also wish EA would lift the NDA, so Divot can explode with all his inside information, or others who went to CD.
** oh BTW , I am not saying the DLC was Divot's big feature, sorry!**

I'm kinda on the fence here. I really, really like the concept of True Aim...it's about time we got rid of the pinpoint shots and tried to bring the game to something more realistic. But I wish they still had the follow camera after the shot. Also, not being able to use it in head to head online is a big disappointment. I understand there were some challenges involved in the coding to make it work, but it's a huge let down that we won't be able to play with True Aim online with friends...not to mention that every league I've played in requires you to play your round online with another member, so that goes out the window.

Gonna have to wait and see if the other game (name escapes me) brings anything better to the table.

Seriously? The big new addition only works for half of the gaming experience out of the box. They change the menu around, add a few courses along with the "little touchups" and "bam" here is your brand new game!

With all due respect, this is practically the same game as the previous games but with a new coat of paint.

I value your opinion and posts but I get the feeling there may be a little bit of a bias towards EA with you.

Yo9u can shout "bias" til the cows come home, however, I have seen the entire game, you haven't. So while I respect your point of view based upon the demo, as far as I know, I am still allowed to disagree with it without being called "biased".

Did TW10 have a Ryder Cup mode? Did TW10 have a new aiming system? Did TW10 have a new way to determine how your character's attributes are determined (by YOU the user)? Did TW10 have clothing that is animated? Shall I go on?

True Aim will NOT be available for "PART OF the gaming experience". Due to technical limitations, EA has stated it won't be available out of the box in MP online games. It WILL be available for every other mode both online and offline which is hardly "half the game experience". EA also stated they are looking for ways to patch this new aiming into the game or find a compromise that works without the zooming that is currently in the feature. Yeah, I see your point about TW11 being the same game with "a new coat of paint.....

Regarding attributes: I understand we'll be able to assign points to ratings at our discretion but will ratings still decline based on poor performance? I really liked that last year if I was having a terrible day with my wedges my wedge skill would take a hit - it prevented my golfer from turning into a superman.

# 40 Klocker @ 05/21/10 12:48 PM
I have to agree also that graphics are refined and definitely improved and the new sound effects are FINALLY realistic. It sounds great. New swing control may alone, be worth the price of admission.... it's actually a nice challenge
