Two things:

1. I think the spin move in Madden either needs to be taken out or its effectiveness taken WAY, WAY down. Players just don't use spin moves to avoid tackles even remotely as frequently as it happens in Madden... not even remotely. Something needs to be done here... maybe make spins nearly impossible to pull off in general, and then moreso for players that normally don't do them like Brandon Jacobs... something.

2. The GameFlow feature is a great idea. As you can extract from the video, I think they're looking at it as a feature for the casual, but this concept also fits a very sim mentality in my opinion. I'm hoping this feature will have a number of customization options for its visual presentation. I can't stress enough how important it is to sell things to the user visually... this is an approach Madden team has struggled with mightily for 2 generations now.

i think it will end up being very strategic . you can set everything up yourself or go with they have programmed , which probably translates into franchise of teams have gameplans and tendancies. hopefully means scouting

LOL @ people saying BB will "blow Madden out of the water". This is going to be a good game just like M10 was. Also about presentation, I am hopeful that they just used M10 layouts on top of M11 so they wouldn't blow the network presentation announcement later on.

They have to fix the O-line/D-Line though. QBs should not be able to roll and chuck w/o getting clobbered by a D-end. Running animations were improved in my opinion. I want to see the defense get an overhaul. It always seems that everything is for the offense. I need more options on D to counteract the over-powered offenses.

Meh, I wasn't impressed or depressed about the trailer.

Just didn't get a wow factor at this time.

Seems to be enough tightening up to do between now and July.

What I'm saying though is how I don't get people putting final impressions of the game (the features it will have, how the players will interact with each other through out the whole game, etc.). so soon. That's all. If you do it then I could really care less but all I'm saying is that I don't get it.

All of the features of the game haven't been said yet and some are acting like gameflow will be the only change when it obviously won't be.

Also, another question, what if a full 4 qtr game video that they show in the future looks better than the 15-20 sec. of gameplay we see here?

Will the guys that say Madden 11 will be the "same crap" change their tune?

Anyways did anyon else notice the score of the game? Wonder what difficulty level they were playing on...

Is it just me or does it looked like they pulled the camera back similar to the old PS2 days? When the QB drops back to pass you can see the entire field now, including the flats out of the back field on both sides...

I dont recall having that view when passing in Madden 10.

Just watched it again, the RB animations look great.
If the fix the DB/WR route running and defending animations, and fix the 3-4 defenses. I'm going to be buying this 1st day, I skipped out on Madden 10.

good catch, that's probably why I thought it was a ps2 game when I first watched it. Reminded me of the old days playing Madden.

Hmm it looks the same to me, IDK..i guess it's just me. I also see the same lumbering running styles...i'm saying it baffles me why EA couldn't speed up these running animations..

It's just Tiburon football. Very uninspiring. I'm sure it's "fine", but just looks so boring. I feel like I've been playing this same game my whole life.

Well by reading the VERY in depth OS NCAA review from the event this weekend, the gentleman reviewing it seemed extremely impressed with NCAA this year. He mentions things like OL/DL being completely re-written and how great it worked on both sides of the ball.

I would have to assume that Madden will be better top to bottom then NCAA, because its their flag ship game. So this gives me a lot of hope that maybe that extra month of polish that the NCAA game has gotten will translate into Madden a month from now.

I feel you, definitely a great catch that seemed like PS2.

So Here is my take on the video.

--Overall, the video wasn't Jaw-Dropping, but what I respect, is that they needed a year like this where they didn't Add any new system (like Pro-Tak), which would need a year or too to refine itself because its the 'New' thing.

I think that gang tackling stuff should be refined, and they are getting the run locomotion/canned animations refined/ obviously the sideline catching (even though this is a marketing video, we should take it with a grain of salt).

--People wanted smother gameplay, and I'm confident that we are getting it, just based on there marketing strategy (or lack of..."Faster, Smoother, Deeper".) It seems cheesy, or just like 'Huh?', but I just think that they needed a year like this w/o adding a 'Fight for the Fumble' or something like that to just work on preexisting problems, like sideline catches, foot-planting, and just overall better physics.

--I can only hope that in Madden '12, they get custom running styles (like they have custom QB styles, to get that lean back into people running. I think they are going a long way though with forcing the actual player to lean by holding down the the R-Stick.

Overall, like I said...the video isn't jaw-dropping, but I can deal with it.

Kinda meh. I want to see full gameplay. If all of the guys on the field, meaning NPC's, aren't all bending and twisting the way I can, the new locomotion improvements become a "back of the box" gimic, in my book. So far, I haven't seen anything that screams Fifa-level improvement. The reason that Fifa's locomotion works so well is that it is paired with the 1,000 decisions a second, which is tweaked every title to become more true to life. That and really realistic collision animations. Until Madden gets all that stuff into line and they start building a game that looks, acts and moves like football, they'll always have this cut and paste look. It's been that same way for too long. Like I said, I haven't seen the whole shebang in action, but from the little stuff I've seen going on in the background, it seems too many legacy issues are still there. Right now, meh, maybe a meh-+...

I'm convinced that this GameFlow thing is a way to implement a "true to life" gameplanning system, and that it's not just "Ask Madden" with instructions on where to throw the ball. I could be completely wrong, but if this paves the way for a "play scripting" system(first 15-20) and then a situational "coach's card" for the rest of the game(a list of plays for each situation -- 1st and 10, Second and long/med/short, third and long/med/short, 4th down) then I'm all for it.

# 137 iamgramps @ 04/23/10 11:25 AM
This could be a case where they just put something together for the draft, a demand from the NFL, and was unable to fully implement all the upgrades. They may have also chose not to show alot, because of the forth coming release of Backbreaker, which may still be in development considering it has been delayed. Ian and company are smart enough not to show their entire hand. Plus, if they expose everything now, what will have to look forward to later. The closer we get to release, the better the videos will be, I hope, but the trailer wasn't that bad imo.

MADDEN 11 GIFS..Some reason 2 and 3 are super fast

# 139 SageInfinite @ 04/23/10 11:32 AM
Nice gifs Djordan.

Personally I think EA finally gave people the perfect "1st footage". They showed things from a gameplay camera angle(which everyone complains about), and they showed things from up close angles. I don't see how anyone can complain about what they showed, it's exactly what we usually want.

The problem lies with the game itself. Face it people, if you don't like the footage you saw give it up. This is what we get this generation. EA built 1 of the worst football engines coming into this generation. That's it it's over. Just don't buy the game if you don't like an ounce of what you saw, because it's not going to get much better by August. BELIEVE THAT.
