NCAA Football 11 News Post

EA Sports has just posted another NCAA Football 11 blog. This one covers the ESPN integration.

Quote:
"Hey everyone, this is Greg Heddlesten and I’m a Designer for the NCAA® Football 11 team here at Tiburon. My main area of ownership is presentation and, as Roy mentioned in his previous blog, when we began work on NCAA 11 it was very important for us bring even more authenticity to the product and continue to blur the line between real life and the game. One of our first goals for this year’s title was to give our in-game presentation an upgrade with the audio and visuals of ESPN College Football.

Previously, we had only gotten our feet wet with ESPN integration by implementing the ESPN SportsCenter updates and the news ticker. But everyone here, as well as everyone on the forums, felt that the ESPN experience just wasn’t complete without the ESPN College Football theme music and the in-game visuals and presentation. We all got our first taste of what an ESPN style broadcast could bring to our college sports products in NCAA® Basketball 10. The excitement, imagery, and sounds they were able to implement gave their game an entirely new vibe. With that in mind, it was time for us to dive in and really give our in-game presentation a new coat of paint with the help of ESPN.

One of the cool things about working with ESPN on the visual side was we were able to see the new graphics package they were going to roll out in 2010 before everyone else. The general public got one of their first glances of this new visual style during the Bowl Season this past winter. It was really important for us to have the graphics in the game match what you would be seeing during the College Football season this year. The reference provided by ESPN really helped our artists replicate the look and UI animations you’ll see on television and help us continue to blur the line between NCAA Football 11 and watching a broadcast of ESPN College Football. So, without further delay, let’s take a closer look at what’s to come!"

LSU played App. State to begin the season at Noon in 2008. Played Florida in 2005 at 3:30 on CBS. It has been done and somewhat recent. Georgia game in 2008. WatsonTiger, Is the no night game stuff something that started in 2009?

That is definitely Cowboys stadium. Note the glass paneled end zone and the windows along the upper deck:

I agree, this game should look and play better than ever if they get the cut scenes down.

we did in 2008, due to SEC on CBS, and it pretty much pissed off the whole LSU system.

I doubt we will this year.

App St. was played at 11:00 because there was a little thing called a hurricane coming

UF in 05 was scheduled that way. Bama took the primetime spotlight.

and 2008 was a cluster****

no, it's not a new tradition, not at all. We've done it for 75+ years. If you look at lsusports.net before football season begins, all games are replaced with "TBD" by "7:05"

you're not..just looked it up. All games in Baton Rouge are set for 7pm kickoff.

This is great! New lighting and better presentation were my 2 biggest hopes for 11. Also, even if they don't add another announcing crew, they could still do "ABC" presentation for big gmaes since it's just ESPN presentation with an ABC logo in the bottom corner.

Wow... I'm late to the party, but woo! Miami was beating UF pretty good. The game got that right too.

But EA would move our games to 11:00 for a #1 vs. #2 game with UF

I dunno. It's a cool addition, but I don't find this particularly exciting...at least not in the "I'm sold!!!" kind of way a lot of people are. It's a nice addition, but there's no info on whether or not presentation quality has been improved. If it's the same types of overlays, lackluster commentary, etc but just with ESPN slapped on it with a few added broadcast wipes, is it really so much better?

I'm not knocking the addition at all and am glad it's being done, but I'm more intrigued about what's to come than this news itself. If it's this AND some type of pregame, post-game, or half-time additions or some revamped commentary, then I may start getting excited. It is a nice addition though.

Like just about everyone else this has me pumped. Hopefully the next blog reveals that there is better commentary (preferably a different team) and authentic cut scenes. The presentation will only go so far, if they don't get this right.

Yes, I know. I read the blog. As I said, I get what the addition of ESPN is and I'm all for it. That's not my point. I simply hope the info he teased has something more to do with the overall quality or depth of presentation rather than the branding that's being addressed here. We'll see.

Exactly how I feel.

South Carolina and Arkansas in 2007 as well. Point being, it isn't as if this never happens. Whether it be CBS strong-arming LSU or not. So despite its infrequency, its still something that shouldn't be removed from the game if it actually happens. Whether EA should fine tune it so it happens less often is another matter.

You know I was excited for the game, but then you just pointed that out to me.

I'm interested about the trophy on the platform in the 2nd pic. the boys over at NCAA strategies are suggesting it is a place holder right now for what will hold rivalry & bcs trophies. The guys who made it to community day seem to be okay with that suggestion.
