I really don't see how if these are based on the last 3 years how Kennedy is rated higher than Cano. I just looked up both players stats for the last 3 years and Cano has far better numbers the last three years all the way across the board. Kennedy stats the last three years in no way, shape or form make him a top 9 2nd basemen.
At least we have the ability to edit, so no big deal.

The Reds fans are going to be upset about Brandon Phillips' stance again...

why the hell cannot they get Phillips stance right, every year we go through this
I know the rating system here is specific but Aaron Hill needs some love in this thread. Helluva year last year.
.286, 36 bombs, 108 RBI.

I don't care what none of y'all say, I'd rather have a championship than a top 9 2B in a video game any day.

Everyone should keep in mind that the overall ratings are exactly that- overall. This includes every rating of every facet of the player's game, including speed, defense, plate discipline, even durability!
Robinson Cano may have a slightly lower overall because he likely has low plate discipline, given the lack of walks over his career. Also, his defense is probably the only truly overrated part of his game. Dude has zero range. He's like Ellsbury in that regard, he'll pull of what seems like an amazing diving play, but it's really a routine play for fielders with better reaction times. He's also not really the best baserunner, not slow, but not quick on the jump either.
So if Cano has very good offensive stats but low Discipline, Reaction, and Baserunning Ability, that would probably lower his overall rating.

But I don't know what that has to done with some questionable ratings.
Phillips is rated too high as he is very inconsistent in my opinion. His batting stance seems to be wrong again this year. Good thing they allow us to change it.
Great, another Red Sox/Yankees thread. Can't have enough of that.
How about going back to the topic?
I think Hudson doesn't belong up there either. He is a decent 2B but not elite. He has the reputation of being a great defender like Torii Hunter, but hasn't been a plus defender in years. I don't think he is top 9 material.

It's good to see Mr. Kinsler getting his due. I have felt for a while that he has been a wonderful second baseman, and right now I'd have to say he's better than Michael Young. I would have had Brian Roberts up a bit, but it looks like a good list.

R.Cano .297 AVG 83 2B 39 HR 157 RBI
D. Pedroia .311 AVG 102 2B 32 HR 155 RBI
J.Lopez .285 AVG 83 2B 42 HR 185 RBI
I think you Yankee fans are a little bias towards Cano. How come no mention for Jose Lopez??

yes as a baseball-ite, cano not in the top ten is odd, really odd.
Lopez is grossly under rated as well.

Personally I would take Pedroia over Cano just because of his defense and his better OBP.
I think Beckham should crack the top 9. That's not me being a homer. He projects to be playing average defense and to have a well above average bat with great slg for 2nd base. So I don't see he shouldn't be a top 9 2nd baseman. I think a line
of .285/360/470 isn't out of reach.
This is from the official team ratings explanation: Player ratings are not done by human hands its all done by a program that looks at the players past three years with the most recent year weighing in the highest.
Given Zobrist's career, which consists basically of one good year, I would say the most recent year is at least 75% of the ratings.
I wonder if this dynamic continues for 2011 and beyond in franchise mode. If a player has a bad year or gets injured will his ratings plummet?
