Great, another Red Sox/Yankees thread. Can't have enough of that.

How about going back to the topic?
I think Hudson doesn't belong up there either. He is a decent 2B but not elite. He has the reputation of being a great defender like Torii Hunter, but hasn't been a plus defender in years. I don't think he is top 9 material.

Cano over the past 5 years is the second best 2b in baseball. Kinsler has done nothing outside of Texas, Zobrist has 1 season of excellence, Aaron Hill had an ok 2007 and a great 2009, Pedroia is a gamer but not better, Roberts, Kennedy, Hudson are nowhere close to being in Cano's league.

Cano

.320, 130 OPS, 25 HR's, 48 Doubles, 85 RBI's, 100 Runs, 200 Hits from the 7th spot of the lineup.

Re: MLB`10 The Show Top 5 Second Basemen

It's good to see Mr. Kinsler getting his due. I have felt for a while that he has been a wonderful second baseman, and right now I'd have to say he's better than Michael Young. I would have had Brian Roberts up a bit, but it looks like a good list.

Last 2 seasons:

R.Cano .297 AVG 83 2B 39 HR 157 RBI
D. Pedroia .311 AVG 102 2B 32 HR 155 RBI
J.Lopez .285 AVG 83 2B 42 HR 185 RBI

I think you Yankee fans are a little bias towards Cano. How come no mention for Jose Lopez??

Gordon Beckham's hair, alone, should have rated him at #1.

Ian Kinsler is the most over rated player in the game. Let me know when he finally gets a hit outside of Texas. Pedroia wishes he was good as Cano. Hudson, Roberts and Kennedy above Cano? Are you F'ing kidding me?
ok, that was funny. i'll give ya that.

yes as a baseball-ite, cano not in the top ten is odd, really odd.

Lopez is grossly under rated as well.

It shouldn't be a debate if Cano should be a top 9 2B or not. So I agree he's one of the best.

Personally I would take Pedroia over Cano just because of his defense and his better OBP.

I think Beckham should crack the top 9. That's not me being a homer. He projects to be playing average defense and to have a well above average bat with great slg for 2nd base. So I don't see he shouldn't be a top 9 2nd baseman. I think a line
of .285/360/470 isn't out of reach.
