Are you being serious? Ok Zobrist is a Super Utility guy..someone that is pretty good at everything and he hit really well but as for Hill

Hill has been in the league since 2005
05 105 games 99 hits
06 155 games 159 hits batting .291 in his second yr..
07 160 games 177 hits .291 avg
08 he had a concussion after 55 games
09 158 games 195 hits .286 avg 35hrs 108 RBIs and I would say he's easily top 3 defensively in the AL for 2nd base...
I think this guy may be alright..

Im not saying Cano isnt a good hitter..he is and he has a lineup around that allows him to see good pitches..Hills numbers are a tad lower than Canos because Cano has had 101 more games 453 more PA which gave him 23 more HR and 191 more hits..so Cano does squeak by with hitting but Hill is a much better fielder

I think your avatar best sums it up. Haters gonna hate. The guy is an obvious top 5 2B. People throw out random lies like he has no range and he is an mediocre defensive 2B? lol what a joke. Watch the games on a day to day basis then get back to me. The guy is a borderline gold glove 2B

I thought Hill had a higher OBP, so I'll give you Cano over him, but Zobrist is a beast.

So if Zobrist is such a great fielder why is his Fielding Ability 56? Obviously his rating was based on his Offensive #'s

Cano is the better offensive player and hits 7th in the lineup. The only 2b in baseball that is better is Utley. The list fails on so many levels.

Can we please stop perpetuating a lie that Cano plays bad defense. The man was a gold glove candidate this year and has great range. His own manager felt he should have won it this year
Quote:
"I look at Robbie and offensively he's had a great year," Girardi said after the Yankees' 3-0 victory against the Red Sox. "But I think he's had a Gold Glove second base year as well. The plays that he has made, whether it's been to his left or to his right, turning double plays, fly balls that he's caught down the line, Robbie's had a tremendous year."
Everyone is using the ******** UZR ratings which have Teixeira as an average 1b basemen defensively. This for a guy who is head and shoulders the best in the game. ANother quote from the same article
Quote:
"I'm not sure how they figure that out," Girardi said last month, in response to UZR's evaluation of Mark Teixeira. "I don't know how you can compute range without doing a battery of tests. You're making assumptions on how hard a ball is hit, how fast an infield is. To me it's really a complicated thing to predict without necessarily watching someone every day and understanding how they go about their business, and how they do their job."
But what do you think?
I happen to believe in some of that, especially in what Girardi calls the value of seeing a player every day. I don't believe judgments can be made on players going strictly by stats, and that's probably most true when it comes to defense.

UZR has its flaws (see Teixeira, Mark), so much so that it takes about three season's worth of data to derive anything conclusive. But is it that flawed? Has Cano's improved defense really deceived my eyes -- and judging from your Tweets on Sunday -- many of yours?

And surprisingly Cano has more plate discipline than Hill, also Hill's power numbers are skewed due to the fact that he lead the league in at-bats.

Not trying to be a homer here, BUT COME ON.

Re: MLB '10: The Show Top 5 Second Baseman

Right never checked Hill's stats. Was fooled by his power numbers. His OPS is lower than Cano's. Thought it might be Yankee's Stadium but his OPS+ still was 12 points lower than Cano's. Defensively it's almost a wash between Hill and Cano with just a slight edge for Hill.
So for 2009:
Zobrist > Cano > Hill
