1st Day purchase..BUT

Just based on the videos it has an NFL blitz look to it, and I know it's not a finished product but the bodies look un-natural and the jerseys look spray painted on???

Lately AI is everything in these games...we will see

Strange that with less than 3 months until release we don't know more about this game..Features, online options, etc..APK2k8 had nice tackling and physics but no replay value, no online options worth a damn..These guys appear to be british, they may know animation but do they know football?? Can they program a realistic football IQ into this game?

Maybe I need my eyes checked because I don't see the Blitz resemblence and the jerseys look good to me. Great thread. You have valid concerns. I just see things differently, which is good, because if everyone was the same on everything, we would be stuck on in the past.

I'm starting to think all the hard hits are just a good way to get people into this game and apart of there their plan to get more sells. Look at what madden does in there commercials and vids. They nothing but, highlights when It comes to the worldwide audience. That is just what people want to see and BB will definitely get you to the edge of your couch with a great commercial.

I have been interested in BB ever since the first highlight vid came out. I am still going to buy Madden 11 regardless of how BB does. I still can't believe this game is only like 3 months away from release and this game is 50 bucks(I know Its only 10 dollars but, it matters). I loved this vid though it looked very well done, the RB reaching, gang tackles, the mid air collisions is something I'm going to look forward to seeing. I think I'll enjoy defense more than offense just because, the hits in this game...words just don't do justice in explaining how great they look.

I'm still a bit worried about wrap tackles though, I know this is just the highlight vids that madden pulls on us every year to pump up the hype machine before the real gameplay vids go viral. Does anyone know if the Devs have mentioned that big hits don't happen 24/7? I'm wanna believe they don't but, the hits are so spectacular that I'm getting a bit worried. To many big hits isn't going to be a make or break because, madden there's a big hit at least once every series If not more. At least in BB the tackles will be different every time even if there are constantly big hits.

If you can stand it in madden you should be able to stand it in BB if the overall gameplay is truly revolutionary and A.I. is on par or better than other games. Me personally I'm a hardcore online guy who doesn't really care much for the A.I. but, I know a lot of people here and outside this forum do.

You know what I would guess? That if you're moving slowly (ie taking a bad angle and having to adjust, or only moving latteraly and basically 'catching' the runner) you will see non-big-hit tackles. The tackles are based on weight/momentum/speed etc...so someone tackling moving slowly might result in a more flakey tackle.

Yeah thats what I'm thinking because, Its all physics based so I was going to hold that question until the gameplay vids came out but, since were kinda close to the game being launched I couldn't hold it in. I figured someone might know something by now.

I know the first game will have its problems like every game but, I think this game will be really solid. The running backs still look a bit stiff and the QB throwing motion could be much better but, I don't care as long as Its fun and fundamentally good football. I'm more excited about this game than madden because, i just want something different. I also like that statement about how It will be hard for people to go back to canned animations. I hope there right and there game takes off but, I know It won't out beat madden purely because, of the license.

Just now watching this video and all I can say is WOW. This is looking very impressive. I'm getting really amped up to play this now. I still want to see some gameplay footage, but I saw a few more things in this video that I haven't seen in others.

if this game plays well, Madden is toast..and its their own fault....or maybe EA will make a good next-gen football game for once.. the consumer may finally get what they've been craving for in a next-gen football game!!

im looking forward to this title hitting the shelves!!

I'm still amazed how far this game has come. It has already exceeded my expectations. I read one post where someone was concerned about the devs having to tell the AI not to grab facemask...really think about what that implies and you'll realize the depth of this game. Let me make it easy...1st time pee wee football player...ok tackle whoever has the ball anyway you can just don't grab their facemask because thats illegal.

The thing that has me the most hype is the way the runner stretches the ball towards the goal line. This implies that players have on the field awareness which would also translate to toe taps, end zone catches, runners trying to get the 1st down and runners trying to stop the 1st down. I don't know how many times I've been frustrated in Madden because the player didn't attempt a toe tap on what should have been a completion. This will make this game more sim because actual football comes down to plays like this...

I really hope they pop together a quick quarter of gameplay only. To me, it really still seems like they want to keep a lot of their ideas hidden as long as possible to not only build hype at the right time, but to limit what the competition knows. If their competition knows all the features and exactly what a game is about, they'll try to lift a bunch of selling points and slide them into their product.

If Backbreaker waits, they can ideally get their ideas released without them being emulated in THIS year's game. We've all seen it in the past, 2 games competing and stealing ideas. By the time BB releases, their competition shouldn't be able to implement similar technology.

Still, I want to see what this game is all about. It's been YEARS and now we are so close.... come on!!!! lol

It's like a chick lifting up her skirt and then running away. They need to give up the goodies, we've been patient lol. I'm really getting hyped for this game. If the X's and O's are on point, it's going to be hard to pull me away from this one.

Agreed. It's going to welcome contact. Playing in the trenches may be better than ever.

Wouldn't it be crazy if one of the reasons for the lack of info is because they don't want EA plucking them for ideas because EA obviously has no clue about what people want in a football game. If that is the reasoning that that would be refreshing. I think the gameplay is going to be groundbreaking personally. Even if the AI is suspect like Madden it would still be a better game due to the physics involved.

I understand that attempting to assimulate actual NFL players is a lot harder than any of us can imagine but at least with realistic physics, collisions, weight and momentum hopefully we won't see the impossible matrix type plays on Madden because its physically impossible once you factor in physics. There is no canned animation you can duplicate or create to compete with this. NM now has a 3 or 4 year head start on any dev who will basically be forced to go in this direction.

I think EA believes that their product along with the NFL liscense is all they really need to be successful. I don't think they felt threatened by NM and probably didn't expect them to make a game like this work. I don't think they imagined that BB would turn out as advanced as its appearing to be so they continued to do what always worked for them...rehash, new feature, rehash, new feature. I'm not even going out on a limb anymore when I say this but I think that after May 18th they will seriously feel threatened. I say good luck to anyone that can go back to canned animations.

I think the biggest draw for me besides the "contact" is how fluid it all moves. There is no hitches for animations to start/finish, no odd changes due to animations, etc.

Everything just flows like your mind perceives it happening before it does. Which lends a huge hand in it coming off more "realistic" because your mind can connect with it. If that makes sense.

Isn't it little late in the game to still ideas for this upcoming version??

# 138 shavane @ 02/23/10 02:50 PM
mvb34 - I have no idea if it would be too late or not. I was just trying to make myself feel better about the lack of info on this game...lol.

After M10 I think I've become spoiled in that sense. I'm not sure of the time frame exactly but all I know is information, gameplay vids, dev vids was flying around the internet like crazy pre M10 release. EAs marketing strategy last year was phenomenal. It felt like they opened the entire book up to us so it was with great confidence that I strolled up to the counter and purchased what I felt would be a new era for Madden but I was wrong. I fully expect to use the same great confidence when I go to purchase BB and I've got my fingers crossed that I won't fall into the same trap lol.
