QFT driving the lane can be a chore just because the CPU can pull you into a contact animation at any time. And if they don't some random help side defender will jump in the air and block your shot as you go into a layup anim.

I would be cool w/ it if it looked remotely realistic but sadly that's not the case. What makes thing even worse is the fact that I almost never get the foul either.

Then on the other end these same instances result in a foul on you. This game is just so backwards at times Lol.

The fouls/play in the paint/layup solutions stuff is very concerning to hear. I can already tell it will be the reason I will most likely not last more than 2-3 months with Live. Using teams like the Knicks where I bomb away from 3 all game and it matches the real-life strategy is all good, but using half court teams that thrive on getting into the lane and to the FT line, it will absolutely kill the game.

Hopefully NCAA '10 can improve on it too.

just had a game where I out shot the CPU from the free throw line. Basically I just try to jam that stick away from the contest, or if I see a guy I think I can challenge..try to finish at him.

Scoring in the post seems a bit more difficult..i had pretty much gotten it down pre-patch..now im just off...

I'm also having a bit of a time ujsing guys like AK-47, Al Thorton, Andries Biedrens.. dudes who get their points slashing to the rim. They are not finishing

So, are all of the problems I've referred to also valid for play against the computer..IE no fouls during drives that result in contact animations?

Don't really know. That game was AI vs AI and I didn't watch it. Haven't looked at the fouls critically. Some one else could probably answer your question.

Man... the game is so fun yet frustrating. The foul call disparity between you and the CPU is ridiculous, esp on in air collisions.

Just got hit with the ot glitch and the alien glitch in the same night...that kind of stuff just kills your joy right there...i was having some great games too lol

I'm still waiting on the patch (PS3) but was just wondering, for those complaining about the foul frequency, isn't that adjustable via sliders?

What's not to love about the alien glitch? He plays just fine.

Derrick the alien is awesome.

Lol you could raise some sliders to make it easier for you to draw fouls but it doesn't always guarantee you will get more from my experience.

One thing I do know is that raising the sliders can result in even more of a disparity between you and the CPU. So sadly it can be risky depending on how much you can tolerate some BS calls.

Honestly if you can deal w/ all the BS that happens in this game then this won't be a problem. I can't so it just frustrates me but different people may not see it the same way.

This is a case of you play then you decide I wouldn't trust anybody else's opinion b/c you know what you can tolerate better than anyone.

Yeah this is driving me nuts as well. Seeing as the foul sliders are global I guess there is no real way to temper this. Every game I've played post patch the CPU has drawn up to triple the amount of fouls that I have. I'm seeing the same contact animations play out at either end of the court but the calls are only going one way!

Well, I may be done with this game. The patch has killed it.

Tonight's game against Toronto in my Dymanic Season was possibly the most frustrating game I've ever played.

First off, Toronto had FOUR 8 second violations. None of which I was even trying to pressure, just them lolly gagging up the court or standing there. 3 of the 4 I took a 5 second violation to give them the ball back, just the way my brain works, I need the game to be realistic (as much as it can be) to enjoy it. I'm all for fun games, and that's what Live is, but when the AI is a moron, I can't get into it.

So that withstanding, we get to me having a 3 point lead with 30 seconds to go. AI is playing it right, they call a TO after a miss by me and inbound at half court. 3 straight inbounds, Calderon comes round from the back side and catches the ball near half court, immediately stepping back over the line as he catches the ball for an over and back. Nothing I could do to stop it, it just kept happening.

They finally get it back and inbounded right, down 5 with 15 seconds to go, for the first time all night, they don't shoot with urgency, in fact, don't even get a shot off.

Now, in the games I've played, this is the FIRST time I've seen any late game gaffs by the AI, most of the time it's been pretty straight for me. Maybe a combo of things occured, I don't know, but the game simply wasn't fun tonight. Wasn't fun at all. I felt I had to make errors just to make the game competitive, and I hate doing and feeling that way.

i feel bad for the masses who really want to play with dna updates and refuse to edit rosters...

most of these AI gaffe's i dont see with my rosters, i will go on record and say the devs have been way too generous to 90% of the players in this game

and if edited way down the game plays more to what we see on tv, i look at LA and the issues people are having, on my roster kobe drops 40 every game ( some may not like that and want him to actually get 26 but i like 40) and late in games the cpu has to do less calculations when you edit the role players to be role, players 2 passes and the ball is in bryant's hands no time wasting,

CV i am looking at it right now fisher dna shooting has him as the focal point of the offense.....

and as i have been preaching the dna shooting determines who and where they will shoot from and fisher's is higehr that kobe he wont pass up shots he is rated too high

Alrighty, I am getting more comfortable with the post patch flow and pace, and my venom isnt as fierce now. They did a lot of good things.

I'm also (hold on to your seats), getting a decent disparity between user and CPU fouls. Left stick, left stick, left stick.

I'm a little sketchy with a few things though

1) post game: This right stick click thing is getting in my way. I have been playing in the post without it, as it seems like you still, and the option to click the stick, is just that..an option.

The problem is that I am seeing my guys go into a post back down animation when I do not want them to, and just want to pull off a normal drive.

---passes out of the post are now kind of erratic. I used to be able to spot up a guy off ball or send a cutter, and pass to him out of a double team, but sometimes control gets hijacked from me, and the guy I have posting up decides he wants to shoot the ball, just when I am ready to pass, or send trhe cutter.

I'm also seeing passes out of the post bounce off of the ground for turnovers. I'm using Tim Duncan, who is an excellent passer out of the post.

I am scoring primarily off of up and unders..I cannot perform a drop step to save my life...and my face up finishes at the rim are futile.

2) shot contest-- did they change this? there seems to be a deliberate delay now. My Y button press doesnt seem enarly as responsive.

3) Generally speaking, I feel like some degree of control has been taken from me. I felt like i was in control of my player's movements nearly all of the time pre patch.


This has always been one of my favorite things about live. I rarely felt that a guy didnt try to do sopmething I specifically wanted him to do. Now I'm seeing some some canned "sucked in the vortex" annimations happening now, that werent happening before.

4) the CPU tends to go into NBA 2k9 mode now. they have a burning desire to force passes into traffic, which leads to cheap turnovers and face breaks for me.

Im not liking how the cpu is chucking up these ugly 3 pointers from beyond the line like they cant pass closer to get a better shot. I have seen the cpu go brain dead and get 8 second violations.
