2K Sports has announced the patch details for NBA 2K10.

"Hey 2Kers,

Just an update to let everyone know that we have completed the Xbox 360 version of the patch. As promised, you will find the patch details below. The items in bold are items that have also been addressed in a new version of the PS3 patch (I've updated that thread with the appropriate information).

To answer a question that I have received many queries about, these patches do NOT require you to restart your Associations and My Player careers. Good luck with your players and teams!

Any word if the Penetrate & Pass-Out by Star player issue will be addressed? That's the biggest and only concern for this game now.

Wow, we'll see how things shake out, but personally I don't have anything to complain about.

This is just my own speculation of course, but I get the feeling that they must have "broken" some of these elements of the game late in the development cycle and had to finalize the retail code knowing full well about most of these issues.

I think that just like with the Live development team, they have been working on these issues since the lockdown of the retail code.

I know many people feel that its unethical for the Publishers of these games to take the consumers money knowing full well that the game is "not finished", but the one year development cycle and the hard and fast release date would seem to make this the permanent M.O. of sports games.

Do you also know every 360 has 3 free xboxlive gold member accounts you can create which last 1 month each?
Thanks dopeboy!! Really appreciate it.

This one kind of slipped under the radar:

- Games played in the NBA D-League should now have appropriate sized crowds. (Note: this change will not be reflected in existing Associations and My Player careers.)

That'll be a pretty cool change. I noticed they made note that this would not be reflected in existing Associations. I don't want to repeat what's already been asked and said, but is anyone definitive on whether restarting an Association would be necessary for the rest of these changes? I remember seeing that most of the My Player tweaks would work right in, but I haven't read the same thing regarding Association.

All these changes are going to essentially make this game feel like NBA 2K10.5. I'm really impressed with the absolute bevy of reported improvements.

I would think that's the case with any developer though - and lots of products in general. If you have a release date set, I'm sure they weighed the known issues versus the worth of delaying a release. More often than not I'd guess unless it's a crippling issue that occurs consistently, it doesn't make sense to hold the release. Even games that have years of development and a beta release aren't going to catch all the issues the thousands of people that purchase the game are going to find. Even if they went to a 2-year release schedule AND released a beta, there will still be problems found in all products. It's just a matter of trying to minimize the amount of issues as best possible

I reckon they knew of these issues and were working on them prior to the release of the game.

The list is longer because it was cut off previously so you didn't get bored reading every single little issue that was fixed.

Fantastic. I think they made the right decision.

YES! the question is, should I invest time with the game now and get good at it, only for everything to change in a few weeks/months?

Just to give my 2 cents, which really means absolutely nothing because some will look at my post count and jump to conclusions...

People are complaining that the game was released "broken", and we paid 60 dollars to beta test the game for the developers. What is so wrong with that?

Look at it this way...you are basically being afforded the opportunity to highlight what aspects of the game you want fixed and have them fixed in the process. With games on other consoles, there was no option for an update once the game released. I remember a ton of games along the way that have been "broken" out of the box, but we couldn't do anything about that.

Now, with the developers posting regularly on these boards, we are able to directly interact with them and let them know what needs to be fixed and what is working perfectly. You should be honored that 2K and EA have representatives that scour these boards looking for any inkling of information that will improve their product. It never used to be like this, and hey, they could be looking through IGN's boards, which is littered with posts regarding correct wristband colors and accessory issues.

At the risk of being flamed, I think we should all just take a breath and look how far video games have come just since PS2 and XBox. We can now fix things that are wrong in the game the SAME YEAR that the game was released.

I know that we constantly harp on aspects of the games that we feel developers need to address the following year, and they can never seem to get it right. Just remember, these guys are employees of 2k and EA. Not only are they limited by the resources being afforded to them, I'm sure that they really don't make a ton of money when all is said and done. This is a passion of theirs, and they would probably do it for free. But, they have worked hard and been able to progress in life to the point where they are able to do this for a living. So, I congratulate them because their hard work paid off. But don't be naive to the idea that these guys are basically getting paid sh*t, and they continue to get paid sh*t no matter how many times their product is bashed on these boards. If they could do something about it, I'm sure they would, but they don't make the business decisions for these companies, so their hands are tied...to a point.

Also, please remember that these guys have families and friends that they want to spend time with as well. I would get pretty damn upset if someone flamed me to no end after I just worked a 10-hour shift because they perceived my output as crap. Hey, they need to spend time with their wife and kids, too. I'm pretty sure the last worry that they have when they go to bed at night is "I hope I got Hakeem Olajuwon's right wristband color correct for the '90's All-Star Team." And, it shouldn't be a concern at all for them.

I can appreciate that people who post here are very passionate about their sports games, but please try to remember that we don't have robots producing these games. I consider it a privilege that I don't have to wait until October of next year to buy the next version of this game only to see that some of my biggest complaints were addressed.

It seems like the video game community, myself included, has developed an entitlement complex that is really beginning to affect the way that we see these products that we are buying. "We need perfection for $60" - NO, you shouldn't expect and you do not deserve perfection for $60. Remember, you are only paying $10-$20 more for next gen games than you were for previous gen games. You are getting little to no loading times, a chance to play other people from around the world online, much larger saving space for individual games (so that we can play as all 30 NBA teams), a chance at patch updates, and better graphical representations of the sports we have grown to love.

I know this is a long rant, but I had to vent, and I thought that if I reached at least one person with my thoughts, then hopefully somebody smells the roses like I have in the past couple of weeks.

We are in a technological time period where we should consider ourselves very fortunate to be able to enjoy games that are updated throughout the course of the year. This wasn't possible on previous systems, and to me, the opportunity to voice my opinion on a game and have problems that I find fixed once that game is already on the shelves is well worth the $60.

This is the way I, personally, look at the situation....

I would much rather pay $60 for a game that is fairly complete out of the box and be able to play endless amounts of games on it, report problems that I see, and have those problems fixed in a timely manner....than to pay $50 for a game that developers "feel" is complete, I think it is a piece of garbage, and nothing can be done about because we don't have the ability to release update patches.

To me, I would rather know that there are opportunities on the horizon for the game to get better rather than playing the game for 1 hour, realizing it's broken, and then take it back to GS for half of what I paid (if you're lucky to even get that). There's much more value in a $60 "beta" copy for me than there is in a $50 "retail" copy that does not afford the opportunity to be made any better until the next version hits retail shelves the following year.

I look forward to reading other's opinions on my musings, as I feel like constructive criticism makes us all smarter, more intelligent human beings.

Take care!!!!

This patch is sounding lovely... It appears that they've looked at all of my issues with the game and added some other tweaks that are welcomed additions to make this game play a better brand of basketball. I'm most looking forward to how they now handle the assist. I'm not expecting it to be perfect by any means because in the real NBA, some assist are completely subjective; I'm just looking for improvement in this area at this point. my experience with this game has been a overall good one, but I've never looked this forward to a patch.

Excellent post tbarney.

I'd like to make a few points

1. Let's be thankful the game is so customisable. We can change it to how we want. I got this game and saw teams bury 20 3s on me. Now I see them driving at the rim and breaking me down off the dribble.

2. Some of the complaints are just garbage. This isnt noticeable on OS, but I swear the average age of the official 2K board is about 15.

3. Patches are pretty new. The notion that a game is dynamic is still amazing to me. Growing up, the game was what it was when you took it out of the box.

Yeah, I guess this was what I was getting at with the game and the sports gaming community in general...never forget where you came from!!!

Good to know that we don't have to restart associations. Lookin forward to the fixes.

The pass out tendencies of star players has more to do with the tendencies. God I hope this is addressed, because the tendencies in 2K9 where bad. I don't know if Pared or any other mod, dev has mentioned that this tendency will be corrected in the roster update. If it isn't we need to make some noise to have them adjust this. I don't want to have to go to each individual star players tendencies after every roster update and go through and fix this.

agreed. i think nogster was saying he couldn't completely eliminate this with his roster.
