Madden 2010 News Post

Check out the Madden NFL 10 blog, which talks about the preliminary details of the 2nd title update.

Quote:
"In this second title update we focused on some of the more debated topics from our loyal and passionate fan base. We appreciate all the feedback so please keep it coming! In this update you will be happy to hear that we have tuned our Flat Zone assignments to cover the flats more effectively. Defenders will not chuck a WR if another receiver is running a route towards their zone. This will help the defender be in better position to react to a quickly throw flat route and allow him to make a play. The flat zone defenders will also play the ball better if a pass is thrown behind the line of scrimmage as well as taking better pursuit angles after the catch to prevent the ball carrier from being able to get around the corner. This has been one of the top complaints that we have heard about and realized it was definitely something that we needed to address."

In my mind, what makes me a little upset is the fact that MW2 has been out a week and it's been patched THREE TIMES on my PS3.

I'm on Version 1.04 - Talk about fixing things fast.

Too bad Infinity Ward doesn't do Madden. It'd be fixed already.

And yet if EA released it quickly and didn't address everything everyone wants you guys would be yelling "why not take your time and fix all of these issues???"

can't win for losing, EA..

I really wish Madden would come out with Madden 11, then just do roster updates for another year, and release Madden 13 with no bugs, and a lot more additions. Maybe make the game $70 instead of $60 or make us pay some more money for the roster updates. Then we could use patches to add to a game, not fix it. For example, the devs could be adding new catching animations or adding training camp back in a patch, Would be sick. Not sure if it's realistic but I'd love it.

Of course it's going to be the "Big One" compared to the 1st title update. This one has more game play fixes.

Unfortunately, some gamers only see one side, their side.

Based on recent statements by Ian I would say that 'they' was a general description for patches.

I guess that the patch was still in EA internal testing in early/mid-November.
So we're back to square one. I agree I don't think its in Sony/MS hands. For the sake of the game I hope it is but I have yet to see any quotes or statements by Ian or anyone from EA stating that the patch is wrapped up and in the hands of the people who release them.

Seems as though they'd make an announcement when or if they actually did pass it on to Sony/MS.

The hearsay on this patch is unlike any other I've ever seen.

The only reason EA doesn't do more than 2 patches is because they have to pay for each one. They can afford it, so why not have 5-8 patches throughout the year? Greed.

It's week 10 in the NFL and we still haven't fixed the flats issue, among others. I haven't played this game since before the NFL season started because I've been waiting for these issues to be fixed. Sports gaming is a sad industry.

Benicio - it's not greed, it's about moving forward - would you rather them continue patching Madden 10 all year and just forget about doing Madden 11?

# 389 TeamBuilder @ 11/17/09 03:16 PM
All I'm gonna say is that it's November 17th, football season is over halfway done, and we are still waiting on a patch to "fix" the game.

I doubt we would see this much complaining about this patch if we had another new Nfl football game to play

What do you expect to see?
So until then, you will just have to deal w/ this . We aren't going away anytime soon
I don't know where you think I even mentioned people that are impatient with the patch go away?

Complain away if you think it's doing any good. That is what a message board is for. Also, remember Ian mentioned that the patch had some hiccups. I'd rather have a patch that works instead of rushing one out and messing anything else up.

Like Odogg mentioned, I'd rather they work on 11 than patch 5-8 times Madden 10.

If no one on here played Madden 08, I can see why people are impatient. I want to start my franchise up as well, but I remember 08 the patch was released in November as well.

I'm sure we will hear something soon.

Didn't an important EA devo. start this thread.

but now I'll just sit back and wait

You'd be surprised how much customer complaints will change how companies work.
It's difficult at this time, though to know who to point the finger at, EA or MS/Sony.

It's easier to point the finger at EA, isn't it?

I'm sure there must be a certification process for arcade games as well. They don't want anything to crash their hardware. Would you?

MS/Sony only certify the patch. It was EA who didnt test their game thoroughly while it was in production. Its EA whos after sales customer support is non existant. Its EA's fault their 1st patch caused even more faults (blocks on helmets, kick returns)
Unfortunately we don't have any real option, and EA knows this. We either have Madden, or we don't have a football game. Madden could be the best yet, but this is getting beyond a joke.
We are over half way through the season. If the patch was something they charged for ( like the add ons in the Madden Shop) it wouldve been out long ago.

BINGO...say what you want but this is the bottom line

I just asked Ian for clarification on whether it is in MS/Sony hands or still with EA and being worked on. He usually always gets back to me, so I'll let you guys know if he responds.

I thought the AFL Legacy Patch came out with the first patch. Am I wrong?

I thought they already informed the public that it's currently in Sony/MS hands?

Thank you for proving my point. EA released the AFL pack, along with an unfinished patch (messed up uni's and overlay banners, easy kick returns)

Now were into week 10 of the season, and still waiting for fixes for faults that wouldnt be in the game if it had been thoroughly tested before release.

Perhaps if the patch had been prioritised, and the faults fixed, and then released the AFL pack, we might be in a better place at the minute. But I suppose delaying the AFL pack would have meant less of them sold, and a smaller dividend for the EA shareholder.

Don't get me wrong, I think Ian and his team have done a good job this year, and I really think Madden 10 could be a great game, and no game is perfect, but we shouldn't still be waiting 3 months after the game was released.

Well, the longer it takes the more will be expected of it. From what I saw on the patch list it really wasn't addressing a lot of the game's problems, just a handful of specific ones. Maybe they are trying to fix "all" of the issues, maybe not. I was going into the 2nd patch with pretty low expectations to be honest. But the longer it takes the more I think needs to deliver.
