after a few games, my first instinct is to say the patch makes the game worse. but the only reason i would say that is because i had the sliders pretty good before, and now everything is a bit out of whack. im sure the patch improved the game, we all just need to find a new set of sliders to go with it. thats frusterating.

i might delete the patch and stick with what i had before, cuz honestly i wasnt unhappy with the game before.

So it's pretty obvious that Madden comes out every year as an incomplete game and needs to get patched multiple times. My question is, at what point in the year does EA start working on Madden 11?

I just don't understand why EA, which is making tons of money off of the Madden franchise, cannot hire more developers to aid in all of these processes. It seems as though they have limited staff that cannot fix the current game quickly or put these corrections into the next game in addition to what would seem like an entire YEAR of new corrections, additions and subtractions.

It would make sense to me to have two teams working on the game. One working on the current game, making patches, fixing rosters etc. And a separate team working on permanent fixes for the problems that the current game has. As well as adding in new features, mostly which should be basic to fill in where the previous game lacked.

Easy right?

1. On 2nd and 10 a WR caught a ball way out of bounds, both feet on the white sideline. The referees conferred, ruled it a completion, but it was still 2nd and 10 at the original LOS. It looks like the play was ruled a non catch even though the referee animation was for a catch.

2. Mixed up team facts. During a franchise game with my Bears vs. the Bengals the ticker showed a Bengals Fact : the team used to be called the Decatur Staleys (that's a Bears fact.) Later during the same game there was a fact listed as a Bears fact, but it pertained to the Bengals.

I have noticed both of those happening to me today as well. In fact, in regards to the fun facts, I have seen the wrong thing pop up about 5 times today, all having to do with the Bengals or Bears. Yet, in every game I played, neither the Bengals nor the Bears were being used.

I do not really care too much about facts and such like that, near perfect gameplay is all I want.

Where's the patch impression?

The Gripe thread is below this one.

My take, overall pretty good 1st patch. The running game is so much better now. Also, played a half on coach mode and that broadcast camera is pretty sweet.

Players now have more recognition of out of bounds. Plus, nice to see the refs conferring if the catch was made in bounds or not.

Also, I don't know if anyone is seeing this, but I noticed WR's are going up for the ball more. I made a pass with Rodger to Finley and Finely went up high to snag it.

Also, I noticed on the deep ball, the good WR's can get a step or two separation.

I haven't noticed any Pass Interference calls.

wut is up with the helmets after this patch???!!! somebody mentioned that the numbers on the pats helmet are blue squares. just played a road game with titans vs ravens and the ravens had white squares on their helmets... what gives EA!!!!

The pass protection that the cpu teams receive, seems even more ridiculous than before. Ratings, matchups are totally irrelevant, when it comes to the cpu pass blocking. This is because it receives a massive, inherent bonus most likely added when the devs realised that the cpu wouldn't be able to pass "adequately" otherwise.

This has been demonstrated by forum members, showing that you can put Kickers and Punters at Guard and Tackle, and they pass block like John Hannah and Anthony Munoz (if you're old enough to remember those two)...

Add to that the psychic blitz pickups (e.g. a Nickle Overload Blitz from the left, and somehow the 65 rated right guard slides backwards, just in time to pick it up with his back turned to the play-every single time), not only psychic, but physically impossible....sigh...

Defenders still make plays on the ball with their back turned (what ever happened to the great much touted "Line of Sight" awareness, did it not make it in?).

Cpu teams still come with 7 or 8 man blitzes FAR too often, cheapening the gameplay.

Runners now break even more tackles on a regular basis, for freak's sake, it needed to go the other way, not more.

I'm honestly trying to be positive, but I can't find anything to say..sorry about that.

i was the broncos and the cpu was the chargers, they were having a blitz party against me,they had 11 sacks, most of the time i was being hurried throwing the ball,so that led to int's and incompletions, and also the cpu running game is more dominant maybe more dominant,i see more broken tackles, especially times where i had perfect pursuit angle and should have got the tackle. i ended up losing, 28 to 13

Yes, the patch that is coming out next is dealing more with gameplay issues than this patch did.

However, this patch had a few gameplay fixes as well.

All I know is that I was craving more time for the online ranked games. Before, it was almost impossible to establish a good running attack over the course of a game if you fell behind. Now you can have a gameplan and execute it, setting things up for later in the game

On the other hand, they might want to dial down those sideline catch cutscenes. I love um and everything, but I saw about 8 during one game, most of the time, no referee conference was needed lol

I just played my first game with the new patch and even though they didn't change a whole lot it seems to make the game much more realistic. I played a fantasy draft franchise game with the Raiders and my defense wasn't all it should have been but I guess that happens in real life. I was playing on all-madden and for once the CPU didn't intercept every ball they touched, they probably dropped 3 before I gave them an easy pick. I think the running game may have been amped up a little bit too much I had McFadden and Wells combine for 200 yards rushing, though I guess behind a good o-line that could happen.

Something really strange happened, Jon Beason got injured on a play where he was in a zone near the goal line, nothing out of the ordinary happened. Actually, there wasn't anyone within a 10 yard radius of him the play was incomplete on the other side of the field and boom. . . He breaks his jaw and is out for 4 weeks. Anyone else have any mysterious injuries like this?

So I've noticed that they still haven't fixed the issue with the clock not stopping when being forced out of bounds. I've never been one to say something could be a gamebreaker, let alone post about it but how is this not addressed in the patch? This kills 2 min drills which kills the drama in late comebacks.

Sorry for the terrible quality. My camera sucks and to make matters worse I was playing in the AFL mode.

Nevertheless! When they tackle Maroney and he drags the defender out of bounds the clock was at :08 and they actually allow it to run off to :07 after he finally goes down (so I was thinking alright there goes a second but a least the clock will stop) and if the replay didn't cut off, you'd see the ref making the motion to keep the clock running. This has happened to me continuously and I just don't understand why this wasn't big enough for EA to put into the first patch let alone the game as is out of the box.

anyone else noticing a huge increase in broken tackles for both human and cpu? also, run blocking and pass blocking are both vastly improved, which imo is a good thing for the run game, but not so good for the pass game.

What is going on? Keep having where my CB, Jonathan Joseph keeps being offsides on plays. Can't take control of him to even get him back manually. Gave up two in a row, a total of 4 on the drive. Pats are driving to tie or win, it just blew the game for me! Seen some good things so far, but this is not cool...

This was an issue before the patch.

I may need to see a larger sample, but I still see receivers only releasing inside the vast majority of the time, and my defender's reacting to flat, slants, and drags, sporadically at best.

On the plus side, my kickoff coverage seems better, the run blocking is noticeably more logical, fatigue is better, and I am able to control my DL's better.

Gonna brief, I loved the game before patch and it feels even more refined after the patch. This year I have ignored all gripe threads (mostly every thread) to find my own gripes; happy to say I have nothing that stands out. Love the game this year.

I actually saw a d-lineman (Ratliff) get injured. Only for a qtr but first time I seen a injury on d/o line.
