NBA 2K10 News Post

Operation Sports, Senior Editor, Chase Becotte has just posted his NBA 2K10 Q&A.

Quote:
"All right, so instead of re-listing all the questions from the other thread and then answering them here, I'm just going to try and answer as many of those questions as possible as I pepper through these various portions of the game. Obviously you can ask more questions, and I can try to answer them as well.

You should also know that I played four matchups, all against other human players -- three against my OS cohort Rich Chavez, and one against 2K developer Rob Jones. I was at the studio from like 10-5 (minus one hour for lunch) so I got time to be walked through pretty much every aspect of the game before playing at the end of the day.

-The matchups were Spurs vs. Suns (me) on Christmas Day -- this was just a feature for the demo, you won't have access to last year's game via NBA Today. The developers want NBA Today to be, well, all about today in the NBA. The other matchups were Jazz (me) at Portland, OKC at New York (me) and Atlanta at Golden State (me)."

i have a question .
the generic rookies in association mode do they come with accesories at all or beards? in 2k9 no generic rookies came in the league with random accesories or beards soo i was hoping they had this fixed in 2k10 if not maybe you could mention it to one of the developers? it really needs to be fixed because the league becomes very bland in later years when its mostly generic players, i really i dont like editing all the rookies each year. it is very time consuming. thanks man'
If it's anything like the draft combine then yeah is should come with beards at least. I hope they give them accessories though. I have one issue with the combine. Has any besides me noticed that in every game there's a play whether on your team or the opposing team that has either your hairstyle, beard or sometimes even both? Basically they are like your identical twin. Every body else is somewhat unique, but there's just that one that is like a mirror image of your player.

Honestly, though, this dunk would be REALLY IMPOSSIBLE and REALLY RARE to pull off. A lot of things have to be in place before this dunk can be even attempted. First off, all 360 dunks (and all flashy dunks for that matter) require no defenders to be within 15 feet of the dunker -- in front, to the left, and to the right.

Secondly, you have to input a 360 stick twirl in order to execute the move. In 2K9, we mapped some 360 dunks to the Flashy (RSTICK to the left of basket) command and it made them too frequent. Now, you really have to get your stick input mastered in order to pull these babies off.

Thirdly, these dunks have a low shot%. Yes, we have percentage on dunks now. You can pull off the move, but it's never a guaranteed 2 points. The more difficult the dunk, the harder it is to make them.

To the online question, no player will have these dunks in a ranked online game. They're really meant for the My Player mode and Edit Player (offline) if you wanted.

So ridiculous dunks like that are controllable, just like the 360 layup?

Nice... great move there.

Everyone's got their pet-peeves with video games. This just happens to be one of mine. I love using historic rosters so much but I just can't convince myself of any kind of legitimacy when using teams before about 1991 due to the long, baggy shorts. I wish short shorts, and an NBA Live level of retro jerseys would come about.

Further, I just realized the lack of an eye accessory feature on the Combine. I was hoping Amar'es' need for goggles would be a blessing in disguise and draw on the need for goggle and facemask options.

Cool thanks for posting that Chris. 2k really is the king of animations, some of those layup animations looks so smooth and awesome.

Nice, I can get an early start on dunk packages now that I see this info.

I'm kinda glad the honey dip dunk is gone in Vince's package.

# 193 DC @ 08/31/09 10:17 AM
But that damn Arm in the Rim nonsense is still there.

# 194 Kully @ 08/31/09 10:19 AM
We are talking about the same dunk lol. A dev said on the 2K forums that the honey dip is limited only to the my player players or something like that. I'll find the post.

Here:

DaCurse:
This dunk has been removed from 2K10. We were still in the process of fine tuning the packages when the Combine came out.

VC (or anyone else for that matter), will not play this dunk anymore.

He also posted this:

edit - Vince beat me to it lol. But that second part has been posted here. Thanks

That's great to hear. I hope the between the legs dunk has been removed too because I hated playing against the hawks and Josh Smith would get on a fast break and do the between the legs dunk.

# 198 DC @ 08/31/09 11:33 AM
The between the legs 360 should be gone as well.

Two things I hope for in 2k10:

1) I hope they can squeeze in dynamic attendance into Association mode. I don't like seeing a mid-season game between the Grizzlies and Pacers being sold out and the crowd insanely getting into this "amazing" match-up. Hopefully they can have these games be true to real life and also games that are blow-outs have fans leaving early as they do in real life. If they can get this into the game I hope that the noise level matches up, you don't want to see a half empty arena with the noise level of a playoff game.

2) This might be a little nit-picky, but I really hope that 2k10 gets the retro jerseys right, I feel like every year they just throw in retro jerseys at the last minute. They all seem rushed with a lack of detail. Being a Magic fan, every single retro jersey they have in the game has a lack of detail and look awful. Please 2k10 get this right this year...and add some of the cooler retro's that haven't been present in the past(ex- Magic 90's blue alternate, Lakers 70-90's gold/purple, Suns w/ shooting Sun, and Pistons Bad Boy era jerseys).

Assuming he is a 2K dev, because he has one of those 2K symbols (like when SimBaller posts) that devs have when they post at those forums
