NCAA Football 10 News Post

Hey guys... so we are aware of the issue with no (or few) freshmen on some teams in TeamBuilder and yes the same issues are found on the NCAA 10 disc. Over the past few days, one of our top priorities has been investigating solutions.

The TeamBuilder teams require some data on the disc to set Depth Charts for every team created before they can be used in a game. For example if you use the Cupcake roster as a starting point, NCAA 10 will give you a default Depth Chart for the Cupcakes for your TeamBuilder team (which you can edit in game). This means any changes we make could cause some problems with teams already created using TeamBuilder. So we need to ensure we are taking to proper steps to correct the issues.

We understand the concerns with how this can affect Dynasty mode and Online Games, so we are working hard to have a solution in place before launch on July 14th.

Personally, I dont think anybody is going to fix the current rosters.. The community might, but its going to take forever. By that point, NCAA 10 will be a distant memory.

It's a given the community will fix it. They do every year. RomanCeasar's rosters were spot on last year and he updated them every week. There are people that will fix them. Believe it.

But, yes, I agree with everyone else. End the Teambuilder "Beta" and come out with the real rosters on there. Put the real rosters on the game.

Say April Fools, we got y'all, and let's get on with this.

NCAA10Roster2.10.09;

Perhaps they save different versions with different names in case a mistake is made and/or a file is accidentally deleted and they need to go back (and someone grabbed the wrong version).

Example

NCAA10Roster_1;
NCAA10Roster_2;

etc...

I'm an attorney and I know that we do this with pleadings and other documents. If you are not careful, you can easily make a mistake and get the wrong file.

Additionally, someone has to be responsible for checking others work. If not, mistakes like this are going to continue to happen. Ultimately, in this case, the buck stops with the lead designer (head of the team).

Someone (some people) clearly screwed up. All I am saying is that it MIGHT not be roster guy.
Yeah, they have TESTERS that are supposed to catch this stuff. But from what I have seen, testers make like $7 an hour so it isn't like they have rocket surgeons testing the game.

I'm in no way happy about this roster situation, but do all you guys play online play now or something? I know I don't use the EA rosters. I use the ones that are done by the community (or whatever ones my online dynasty uses). Why is everyone so mad? Those online games against random people stink anyway. Put me in the group of "rather keep my Teambuilder schools."

now these rosters from TeamBuilder were the game's actual rosters and they are screwed. When has EA screwed up rosters like this? Leaving people off(freshman,sophomores and juniors) and leaving seniors from last year in. And you still tell me Keller's lawsuit has nothing to do with this HUGE blunder? Open your eyes my friend.
So you think Russ and Adam are lying? We can say many things about EA here, all bad, but I feel like the devs have always been straight up with us.

Nah, I don't really agree with that. Do you feel that developers posting here is an admission of incompetence? It would be another form of feedback, which they have demonstrated is important to them. I think their involvement here is a hugely positive thing, and more involvement would be beneficial for everyone. (Madden hopefully proves that.)

And I don't get the "I want a discount if I do rosters" line of thinking. They don't promise anything in regards to rosters, we have just come to expect something better than what we have right now. There won't be one mention of rosters in their advertising campaign. And as I pointed out in my previous post, no matter how much effort is put in, they will not be correct in June/July. They need to change throughout the season, so either they do roster updates (I'm all for that, and that topic rarely is brought up) or the community does them (which has worked to this point).

Sure he can. But then he can't bash NCAA like he always does.

So, they made two sets of rosters? right...

I'm glad I will be away for a few days and won't be able to pick up NCAA until the weekend after it releases. I might be able to hold off on buying it.

I think they should just scrap this garbage of a game called NCAA '10, hire a new development team, and begin working on next year's game.

I feel that the dev team is going to come up with a sufficient solution to this, one way or the other. Unless they are flat out lying, the fact that they've addressed the community with an intent to fix things bodes well.

My only fear is that these rosters are the final file turned in by the roster guy. I doubt Russ and co. will be typing away at roster edits for a week straight. If this is the most complete roster file than we're SOL.

It's June 10th, and a major problem has already been discovered in NCAA10.

Better now since they have a chance to fix it. If TeamBuilder wasn't there, we would have found out when we popped the game into the console.

I really wanted to make a "its ok becuz we have season showdown feature", but this is too disheartening. If they ship the game with these rosters, no way you get full 60$ tag.

BTW, there is a issue with U Texas roster as well. Brandon Collins is missing. He had 7 catches in the Bowl game against t OSU... The TAMU game before that he had 6 catches for 103 yards...he deserves to be in the game. Also, I am a Texas fan and all but I gotta call BS when I see it... Blaine Irby the starting TE... no way he deserves a 90 overall. He played in 3 games last year before he got injured. The only good game he had was 6 catches for 72 yards and a TD... and that was against FAU. Sometimes I wonder does EA just make these guys good because they figure that they go to big schools who are really good so they must be good too since those schools usually reload. IDK... I just think that it is crazy. Some of the guys on the Texas roster have jumped 20 overall points or more. Ex. Cody Johnson, who is going to be a beast if he stays the same. 255 pound rb with 89 speed... All I can say is wow, and even tho its my team and I would love it, its just not true.

That is exactly why he said that its ONLY June 10th.

QFT. Just from looking at Michigan's roster, positions were wrong, players that were there shouldn't have been, other players were missing, etc. And don't even get me started on the ratings. They are notoriously bad and biased (even I'll admit Michigan is normally overrated), but they seem way, way inflated this year, much more than normal.

I would just like to get an answer on whether or not the PS2 rosters are updated...or if it's the same rosters shipping with every version of the game.

Well an updated roster would be just fine with me, as long as it's totally updated. I will gladly stick with PS2 if it's a fully updated roster and nothing more, at this point. It's crystal clear that this game is going to be nothing but a problem the entire time on 360.

i realized that i forgot to bring my xbox home for the summer from miami when i was about 500 miles from school (an oversight almost as big as this issue in itself) after spending the last week nearly crapping myself in anticipation. guess it turned out to be a good thing since i can wait to see how this situation shapes up.

I think that they should put a new roster file on the disk because having multiple roster files is really going to confuse people. I also think they need to put it on a disk because not everyone is connected to an internet source for their console (I for one am one of them.) I live in a rural area with spotty wireless coverage and the only way to get online is to take my console to a friend's house 15 miles away and download it. I'm not going to drive with my console to my friend's house every time just to fix something that shouldn't have been broken in the first place. EA shouldn't force people to play with a bum disk if it was their mistake that caused the problem.

That's a good point. EA has already admitted their own wrong on a MAJOR part of the game, and they are still shipping it. That's what's most unbelievable to me. They are still going to charge the 59.99 for a product that they have admitted is broken and don't have an answer to. That just boggles my mind.
