I will admit, it has been awhile since I played 09, but I am really liking the feel of 10 so far. I have only played 1 round so far at Sawgrass. I didn't creat a golfer because I wanted to see how the game played at the default level with Tiger. I changed the settings to Tour Pro and off I went.

I went with Sawgrass as my 1st course, and as I stated previously, I used Tiger. The graphics are beautiful and and a notch above last year, but not mind blowingly different. On this level it obviously is very important to control the sticks very fluidly and methodically. There were times where I just flat out missed the fairway and since I changed the settings to Deep rough, fast fairway and fast greens, this was not a good thing.

If you maintain your shots in the fairway, it was relativley easy to get the ball close to the pin, if you are accurate. The minute you hit the sand, the rough are any other undesireable lie, it does become very challenging....as it should.

As I played the course, I did move a little quicker in my pace, then I normally would, as I usually will take my time, and check all the different types of shots and angles I have. By the 16th hole I was -5 until I hit #17. The island hole is one of my favorites on any course, and to me, one of the most challenging on this level. I gauged the distance and wind....and proceeded to overshoot the hole by 5 feet or so and put the ball in the drank. I ended up with a double bogey and made my way to the 18th, with the hopes of a little rebound.

I tee'd off on 18 and proceeded to, you guessed it, put it right back in the water. Needless to say, I ended up with another double bogey, and finished my round -1 on the day.

So far, so good....but obviously, these impressions are only after 1 round. If there any specific questions, I can try and answer them

Take Care
Bob

Thanks for the impressions and keep them coming! I am very much leaning on getting this based on a few impressions.

Are you on ps3 or 360? I usually get the ps3 because it has always felt to me like it was easier to screw up on my backswing, but am willing to switch it up this year if one is more fluid than the other.

NP...I am on the 360, as that is the system that most of the people on my friends list will have it for.

The weather effects are done very nicely. As I started out at Sawgrass, it was pouring outside, and it really did affect the way the ball physics reacted....which was very nice. Around the 7th hole it started to let up, and by the 10th hole, the sky was partly cloudy and blue. What I thought was cool, is that even though the rain had stopped, the dampness and moisture still played havock with my shots....obviously I had to adjust accordingly. As the course dried out, then I had to re-adjust....which was a very nice touch.

I did not really get into 09 so I decided to give 10 a try. I pretty much have the same feeling about the game as bluengold34. It has a lot of 09 but feels more refined. I went online and played a daily tournament and went +2 at Torrey Pines. Could not sink a put to save my life. Love how the rain makes your ball react slowly on the greens. I did not create my Golfer yet because I really want to get into this game this year like The Show. Gaming this year for me has been a treat. Hope to see you on the Links bluengold34 By the way it was for PS3

More impressions......

Playing with Mediate at Bay Hill...I have run into a major problems with my putting game. I just three putt and missed a 3 footer to the left, which I never did in 09. The ungulation effects are done very nicely and really have an impact on my short game, both in putting and chipping. The opening scene for Bay Hill was AWESOME!!!!lol. It was a cut scene the had low angle just hovering over a bunker, with the sun just coming up, and looked so real it was spooky.

Dynamic weather is obviously in... which is great, but what about dynamic lighting?

More impressions on the putting please. Are you using the meter? Can you tell a difference in distances with the clubs, can you still blast it 350 every time with a driver on tour pro?

Hurricain I am using the meter & it is tearing me up!!!! On Tour Pro my longest drive with tiger was around 316 down the pipe. As far as I can tell club lengths are pretty close to real life imo. This is for the PS3. Gamers can say what they want but this TW is a lot better than in the past. I'm sure some things will rear it's ugly head but as of now nothing stands out but the realism it seems EA is moving to. Peace!!!!

Does anyone know if there is anyway to kneel down/zoom in on the green? I'd like to play with the grid off, but it's not looking like I'll be able to because I can't tell how it's gonna break.

Well. I have only played 2 rounds both on "play now" and it didn't seem like the lighting really changed, but I could be %100 wrong on this.

I am using the meter on putting with the grid...and I will admit I am a good putter, but not a stud. As a Vet of this series , I will say it seems more difficult than it ever has been( which isn't saying a lot, but still)

Yes, I can really tell the difference betweens clubs and the distance. Using Tiger I was able to hit a couple of shots around the 315 mark, but using Mediate, the longest tee shot I hit was at 294 at that was at %99 power.

Need to step away for a couple of hours....if you have questions, and no has answered them by the time I get back...I will jump right back into answering as many as I can....sorry.

At the hardest settings is the game more realistic or are eagles the story of the day?

I have played a few rounds on the hardest difficulties, with both Tiger and a created player, and I was never able to break par. It is very challenging, and although I think once I get used to the game I will be able to score better I don't think that you can go out and shoot 59 on the highest settings easily. I expect scores to be much more realistic this year.

I played nothing but Tour Pro last year. So far I'm definitely finding it a bit more difficult.

I know it's not going to get talked about much, but being able to pratice swing and get an indication of how hard it was, was much needed. It's already been very helpful to me.

I am really liking the game so far, I think that a few features including the new putting make the game much more fun and realistic for experienced gamers. See my full impressions here: http://www.virtualsportsnetwork.com/...216#post444216

(If I can't post links to other sites then just tell me and I will take it off I guess).

If anyone has any questions about what is in the game I have played 4 rounds in a few modes and can answer some questions.

I am a little dissapointed that just about everything in the game (clubs, clothes etc.) can be purchased through the PSN. I fully inderstand the $$$ aspect and I'm sure that EA will make a boat load of it. Not a critism of them, just I know that Thursday during the online U.S. Open there will be a ton of guys with clubs and unlockables helping them shoot low.

Oh well, I'm having a great time right now, with this game. Only bad part is that it's my GF's B-Day, so I will be out all night sushi and a movie. So not a lot of TW for me tonight.
