The demo for Fight Night Round 4 is available now for Xbox Live Gold members. It features Manny Pacquiao vs. Ricky Hatton in a three-round bout in a rematch of their May 2 fight. The demo also includes a tutorial mode to get you up to speed on some of the new gameplay mechanics. While it’s hard to judge a game that isn’t released until the end of June, the developers did get at least one thing right: Manny Pacquiao still has a mean left hook.

Prolly not a good thing, cuz now you will have ppl that say it was rushed out. And not good cuz it prolly means now for sure there will be no option for button punching. No way I will buy this game without the option. Its all good tho, I'm still having way too much fun with MLB the Show 09!

I guess they haven't figured out how to implement it yet. Oh yeah, Victorious boxers still holds the crown for best boxing title. I think FN4 is going to come in a close second this year.

I would give victorious boxers around a 9.5. With the .5 being taken out for the way the boxers move around.

I'm foreseeing FN4 getting a 9.5 (from myself) also, with .5 being taken out for the career mode not being as deep as victorious boxers (although we might be surprised by this legacy mode), so I might be giving it a 10.
By now FN should be a far better game than VB. In VB when you moved fast the boxer rolled their shoulders so there was some head movement and the other fighter had to "resquare" when they went side to side and face the other fighter. If the game had VB's footwork, and the headmovement I'm talking about it would be much better than VB and maybe my most wanted sports game. Its better than VB in just about every other areas except maybe AI and that remains to be seen. The problem with not allowing simulanieous head and foot movement is that reduces the importance of using range and that reduces style.

Boxers rarely and usally shouldnt go stright back out of range. Teddy Atlas mentiones this on ESPN all the time. You cant work sided to side because the fighters are always squared. You cant move back at an angle well either so the only choice is to go straight back without head movement which makes it nearly impsobile to stick and move with power shots as Shane Mosley often does. Also fighters with less reach cant enter range with head movement Joe Frazier style. Just those two little simple things greatly reduces the style the devs should have input for the CPU and styles we could use pvp. It also removes a nice opportunity to penalize people with a stunning shot when they get caught moving straight back but you cant penalize them because that all they can do.

VB is NOT the ultimate boxing game. BR2 is better, I am not 100% sold on the VB footwork comment.

The head movement issue is one that I would like to see addressed. I'd like to see an 'auto' type of setup for this. One that slowed as the fight wore on and where fighters like Pavlik would have a much lower rating.

My question is why does the demo move so much slower than the videos EA is showing at E3?

Yeah I agree certain fighters should have slower head movement.

In regaurds to VB's footwork this is what I'm talking about.

Look at 1:00 - 1:07
The animation is a little wonky but still thats effective movement and it shows what FN does wrong.

Also I'm thinking FN R4 will be better than VB with the right sliders. VB is too old for the crown but its still better in a couple key areas.

I thought Arthur Abraham was in the game. I pre-ordered it because they said he would be in it. They put bitch *** Pavlik but no Abraham? WTF?

I'm not sure where to ask this and I'm afraid to start a new thread But do we know anything about the online modes and career mode. I'm hoping for a multi player online career mode. A private one with say just a few friends and cpu fighters.

not a online franchise per say but FNR4 will have a online "league" where every player will fight to become a champion in a wieght class...I think its CABs only not sure...

Hmmm... Can we have private leagues just friends ? Probably not, I guess it will be more like the Be A pro hockey league.

Nice to see the button mashers being exposed.

Adapt and overcome.

Yea I like the new control scheme but don't understand EASPORTS NOT GIVING THE PAYING CUSTOMER OPTIONS THAT HAVE ALREADY BEEN AVAILABLE...and then let people only play with the new controls online to prevent turbo controllers, etc. that would be ideal from a game company. I don't really care either way nor am in favor of the button controls or even played the old FN's. I have read people with cerebal palsy can't play, to people complaining about breaking/wearing out their new $60 dollar controllers (hilarious I know!). Is it really a big deal to give these options to the consumer and have whatever online play as well.

I can tell you from the UFC game that lag and possible turbo controllers are the only real faults in gameplay. Despite what you hear everything has a counter and a strategy involved. The actual online setup is a complete failure in the THQ game however. People can quit without consequence which makes the ranked matches worthless after attaining a certain level (most everyone seems to quit to protect their precious ranking).

It seems with more damage from all punches and less stamina, and 12 rounds will be enough to provide some tactical battles and the need to clinch and certainly block and weave to counter stuff, etc.

I hope sliders are available online whether ranked or not which would allow the OSports community to run a proper sim league.
Give people their options for offline/even online and have the ranked matches with the new scheme to tighten up the cheating/gameplay. It should be pretty good online I hope.

I do enjoy the new system almost revoulutionary like EA NHL they really implemented it near perfect IMO.
Do you really believe most complaints are from button mashing cheaters as I prefer buttons in all other sports games ? I mean if I had to use a stick for Baseball or hoops I wouldnt play them .....
Options are a good thing at least offline.
thanks
I agree with you... If I had to use the stick to swing the bat in MLB 09 on my ps3, I wouldn't play it. If I had to use the right stick to shoot in 2k9 for every shot, I prolly wouldn't play it. The buttons are on the controller for a reason. They are supposed to be used more than the sticks. I can honestly care less whether they bring the buttons back or not now. I know I won't be buying the game if its not an option. My gripe is just how EA could possibly live with losing hundreds of thousands of dollars in sales from not implenting the button option. At least for offline use. Just plain stupid.
