IGN has posted some Madden NFL 10 videos. They are more commentary than actual gameplay. Including the Pro-Tak system, authenticity, blocking and layer animation.
I think the EA guys either don't see it, don't believe us, or just refuse to acknowledge the issue with the jerky movements / missing frames during game play.
don't get me wrong I want it fixed big time. Its imperative if they want to really nail sim....physics is a must. 360 spins on a dime that result in players rocketing up the field after the ball can't be allowed to run rampart.
Ian says hes on top of it, and I think giving him until E3 is fair....if its still a problem by then, then its on
Really one positive is all you can muster from those videos? I think your comments have been very constructive the past few days, I actually really think you've got an open mind but this post seems real nit picky to me. Everyone is entitled to their opinion however.
Actually there were two positives in there. Feel free to list more, that was just my quick take away. Outside of the gameplay, the biggest problem I have with the game is what appears to be dropped and/or missing frames. It's the one thing I have yet to see addressed. At 60FPS (which is more than the eye can see) why does it still appear that we are missing frames during game play. Something just seems off.
I like when Ian said that the refs will call a play dead if there's no forward momentum. That is just awesome. I've never seen anything like that in a game before.
People seem to think that this double teaming only effects 3-4 teams, but in real life hayneswort, shaun rodgers, and other really good dlinemen have played in 4 man fronts and still demanded double teams. Really without this a guy like hayneswort has either has very little value in either system because he can get locked up by one guy or is too powerful in any system because only one guy blocks him so he goes unblocked constantly.
Im a redskins fan. I know some people command double teams in a 4-3 defense. But it wouldn't be fun to play teams like the cowboys, Pats, and Ravens that run a 3-4. It wouldn't be fair.

Like I said everyone is entitled to their opinion, I honestly don't even notice it and I'm sure that i am not in the minority in that regard. The running animations stood out for sure, but the missing frames I just don't have that critical of an eye. The 180 degree turns are disturbing for sure as well.
I'm looking at it from a stand point of stuff that really bugged me, like some of the WWE tackles, the lack of a pass rush / pocket, good DB / WR coverage etc. I guess what I am saying if the game is missing a few frames of animation or has some questionable looking ones if that the main thing I am worried about it will be a good year for me because I would personally like to play madden for more then 2-3 weeks for the first time in 3 years.
But again if this stuff bothers you and others then feel free to comment, I was just speaking my mind is all.
Good stuff, but I'm hoping that they add the same kind of anchor points where blockers can add onto defensive players to really drive them back on run plays or seal off on pass protection.
You're the only guy I see who says that collectively, the game looks better in replay than it does during the game.
One thing to clarify, when I say it looks better in replay, I mean that when you play it slowly in replay the game looks amazing. So I'm not referring to game speed reply versus regular game speed. I'm referring to replay at a slower speed as compared to game play speed. Make sense?
i don't post alot but valderez you complain so much it's getting ridiculous if you don't like what you see go play 2k5 and all pro......... Ian and Co. are doing a great job the videos are early builds, look at them for what they are and enjoy them like everyone else on here does.
This is good stuff, hopefully we will see some two man blocking where OL have the same kind of anchor points to add onto a block as defenders do for the tackle.
Hopefully we'll need it to deal with the monsters like Haynesworth who should pretty much eat a single OL alive if he tries to take him one on one.
Actually Valdarez, we can see over 200FPS. It was tested with military pilots. They showed a picture of an aircraft for 1/8th a second and every pilot could tell the model of the planes.
I guess I'm the only one who wasn't blown away. Probably because I'm just tired of looking at the same ol' camera angle. There's definitely some improvements that are shown, but if I'm still stuck without any camera choices I'm unfortunately probably going to have to pass.
BTW, thanks for the link to the videos...good find!
I really don't think it's that much doom and gloom as there hasn't been an announcement about camera angles.
I'm sure that is part of the marketing campaign they are rolling out in the next few months.
not sure if it was mentioned earlier, but in the videos, it looks like they have new jumbotron stuff showing. thats a blessing as they have had the same crap there since 06.
i will never get sacked again if they have double teams T w/ Te help on dominate DEs
yes you will because that leaves other players one on one, so if a team has a dominant DE and a good DE or DT on the other side, that guy would be able to get free sometimes.
