It has now been corrected to play for Casey Kotchman. This line used to be erroneously said for David Ortiz. This line used to be erroneously said for Miguel Cabrera. It has now been "disabled".

In theory, couldn't you play out the rest of your first year without the patch, then re-download it prior to the start of year two? The scheduling issue should not be a problem in that regard, I would think, since it's a fresh schedule you haven't played through yet.

Granted, it's not perfect (and doesn't change the fact that some people will feel slighted and all that) as you'd have to either sim past the remainder of year 1 or play it out without the game being patched, but it may be worth it for some if it actually works. Just an idea.
Personally I'd just be weary of the schedule randomly locking up again at some point in season 2. I'm glad that I don't play online, but it's kind of upsetting that I'll have to always install and uninstall this patch if I want to grab anything off of SC.

I don't think it's really fair if people aren't allowed to voice opinions on this subject should they be negative. Mindless insulting I can agree has no place here but come one, this is a pretty big slap in the face. If this happened in a game made by EA or 2k I think OS would explode.

Hey if it works I will do it once I finish my franchise but right now Im just blown away. I feel like I called this so far back, was ignored, continued playing my franchise since I figured SCEA would make things right eventually, only to find out that I was completely wrong and am even more screwed since I kept playing while waiting for the issue to be addressed. I appreciate your advice, Im fairly easy to please but this really has gotten under my skin.

Hey, if your directing those comments towards me then I apologize for some of the strong language. I did leave out some of the harsher words I was going to use, lol, but I hope you understand that its just frustration coming through and know that Im a relatively solid poster here who doesnt just fly of the handle over nothing. I think I need a self induced break from this thread in specific for now, or atleast a break from posting in this thread, as Im destined to say something that will get me a red card if I keep posting in here.

First i'm glad there doing a mini patch to help things out but for me and many others the lineup glitch is by far the most important thing and reading back i don't remember it being addressed in the new patch, is this correct? I know theres a work around for this but now i'll have to spend a another $60 dollors to play this game making it about a $125 game? Is that fair? If there is away to do this with 1 controller i'd be glad to hear it.

So if I start a new franchise do i also have to erase each and every mlb the show 09 save off of my hard drive to ensure no future freezes or corrupt saves? I must have 50-60 saves on my hdd.

I see you continue to say this, and it makes zero sense. In order to sell a good or service year over year you need to continue to improve your product. Every year MLB The Show has improved upon itself in different areas to make it the best game on the market that we know today. That creates brand loyalty which makes this a day 1 buy for the majority of us in this thread. When year after year they have released this game with little to no bugs whatsoever, it frustrates the hell out of people (myself included) that I can't play this game because of screwed up lineup logic that I have no control over. Last year I had complete control over it.

Telling the consumer that we should blame ourselves for wanting a better product is truly mind boggling.

If you might point out where at any point I said anything to the effect of crippling the company because I was going to wait next year on my purchase Im all ears. I know you cover it up with that little smiley face but in the end your completely wrong and I never even hinted that I thought my buying power would somehow cripple them. I dont understand how what I said was so bad, do you consistently rush out and buy everything that sound good on paper? Im simply saying that after this debacle Im waiting to hear what issues there are and the status of those issues getting resolved, thats it.

I didn't. I think as long as you start a completely new franchise after the patch you're fine.

I think it's about balance too, though. It's the requests to change SO MUCH that can be taxing...not just desire for enhancement itself. It seems most of the major issues reside within the roster, management areas. Guess what got the biggest overhaul in the front end?

This was something I feared might happen because they did SO much to try and get the management portion improved and the logic tweaked.

Yet with all these changes (subtle to us...probabaly not so subtle to those programming it) people kept demanding more; create-a-team, expansion mode, "real-time" atmosphere, create-a-stadium, etc, etc. The requests ranged from wishlist type hopes, to hostage demands...lol. It's an endless cycle.

I think some of that desire to appease a demanding fan base DOES lead to issues. Take The Chef's gripe. He (and others) lose out on their franchises because a very vocal group had strokes over the Cubs schedule (the rest of the teams with schedule issues, just as "broken", barely registered as blips). Now we have a schedule that is more accurate, but franchises that are toast.

Like I said...balance. To some degree, we have to hold ourselves responsible. I'm not saying how much, or even that SCEA doesn't still hold the overarching culpability (they do, IMO), just that I see where Jim is coming from. I don't think he's letting them completely off the hook. Just pointing out that "more" isn't always better.

In the end, it may be their game, but it's ours too. They've given us an aweful lot of input into what's prioritized. At the very least, this should be a wake up call that they are not machines, not perfect, and we should all probably keep stability in mind when making our requests.

Good for you, but not everyone has been so lucky. Some people have a good deal of progress that they don't want to have to delete. I can totally see where The Chef is coming from with this. A patch should never ever screw up existing saves. That's like rule number one.

This is a lot of information to wade through. So is the verdict that the lineup and 60 day DL issues will not be fixed.

Its not getting fixed, plain and simple. Russell himself finally addressed it with the post that I quoted initially and if they were going to fix it they certainly wouldnt be telling people to start their franchises over, that would make no sense at all. Face it, we got hosed if we had pre-patch franchises so other "important" things could get fixed. Do I believe they set out to do this on purpose? Of course not, Im not an idiot. Is it a huge letdown to hear that they are in essence doing nothing to resolve this problem? Yes it is.

I suppose I can understand that, Russell. Even I don't really expect to see any player change from a C potential to an B potential in one weeks time. I do believe, however, that potential should have the ability to change during the year. I think 1 week is too short, however, it's possible a player's potential could change in a period of 2 -4 months. I think SCEA should at least be open to that possibility. If not, I hope you can explain the reasons why.

You might be able to use a computer controller as the second controller if you have one of those. Could try the Ps3 remote too i guess.

I believe Rod_Carew had a one controller option but i don't know the link to the thread.

I love how it's Cubs fans' fault now that there are issues with the game.

WHATEVER.

# 1057 DrUrsus @ 05/02/09 03:32 AM
Well, folks, let's face it, they are going to release patch 2.5 to fix the replays and that's it. They aren't even going to fix the stuff they SAID they fixed in the second patch like the CPU roster control on lineup problem.

It's late, and I have had a long day, and quite frankly, my momma always said if you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything at all, so...............................................

Yea, I think it was actually an extra game for the Dodgers/SD from what has been posted or it was Steve Bartman's fault.

Here's my take..

Patch your game....eat a little you know what(blech!) and move on to your new franchise.
Trust me...I know all about investing time only to have things not kind of go your way...just shrug and focus on the positives!
Just think...you guys get to do the FUN part over again!
